I am on the last part of this quest. I have the white cloak that I need to turn bloody by killing platinum shaman and overlords. I must have killed 50 of these things and it still has not turned bloody. I chose to do the quest solo and have been. Is there something I have to do with the quest item white cloak...or do I just need to keep killing these things?
Yes, just keep killing. The first one takes AGES. Also it seems to be about the number of mobs you kill - we did this with several people in party who had the quest, and it took a really long time for the first person to get the item, but then suddenly everybody else got it within only a few kills, too. So it cannot be completely random.
If you continue the quest with the "money" option, you will get another ten white fabrics. Those are FAR easier to get (like all ten within one hour).
Sidenote: you can use the ten fabrics from the "money" option to get to Baium, too. So it does not really make sense to use the "I want to visit the emperor" option, because with that one you only get one blooded fabric and when that is used, you have to do the quest again. If you use the money option, you can turn in the ten fabrics and you will get top B weapon mats as reward, and then you can continue the quest with another ten white fabrics. But if you ever use one of the fabrics to visit Baium and then go back to the npc to turn in the rest, the npc will take the remaining fabrics, give you like 13k adena, complain to you and the quest will be gone. So if you plan on visiting Baium often (e.g. for raids), just get your ten red fabrics and keep them, and redo the quest when you have used up all ten fabrics for Baium visits.
The same thing happened with our white fabric TOI party. It took a while before the first person got it, and then everybody got it within a few minutes.
A while ago there was a rumor that if you killed the mobs with a chrono weapon, it increased the drop rate. LOL! Every once in a while I STILL see entire parties up there killing level 70'ish mobs with chronos.
What I've heard is that why peopels hit em with chrono weapon is becose the querst item can drop whenever, not on kill buto n hit, and with a chrono weapon you just need one monster and can continue hit for a VERY long time.
yeah. When my clan did the quest, we started with killing mobs like people normally do, but no one got the item. Then we pulled one of the mobs out to the hall, and just started whacking on it, and healing it, when it got low. It took a while, but it wasn't too bad, considering how long we'd been killing mobs before that.
Thanks all I got it. I had a few clanmates heal a platinum overlord out in the hall. I got it real quick this way.
So I have beat 4 raid bosses for fate's whisper quest and am standing at angelic vortex with the pippit dagger and bloody cloak. I talk to it and it wont let me in. Im assuming it is because Baium hasnt spawned yet. Anyone know how long it takes Baium to respawn? Somebody pm'd me and said 4-6 days. That cant be right can it?
I'm having trouble getting the blooded fabrics and want to make sure I'm doing it correctly.
1> I have the white cloth on my Spellhowler & my SE
2> I am killing Platinum Tribe Shamans and Platinum Tribe Overlords on ToI7
3> My Spellhowler and SE are in a party together
4> My Spellhowler is doing all damage
Will this allow both the Spellhowler and SE to get the bloody cloth?
How long should it take? I killed over 75 and got nothing. I see in the previous posts that the recommendation is to just wail on it for a long time. Should I use my SE to root and then have both hit it with melee weapons for a long time? If so, I really wish I had planned this right and brought the Chrono polearm so I could attack from safe distance :(
I need to get the blooded cloth on both since I will have my SE take one for the team and wake Baium so I can slash him with the Pipette.
And another question: I read in another post that there are aggro Angels in the same room with Baium. Is this true? When I port into the room with Baium will I be attacked by any mobs?
i spent 2-3 days trying to get the cloth, then clan party came by and someone got one on mob number 4.....
when i went in the first time an angel aoe'd me and killed me, but i was naked with no jewels, as i had been told u can die there and drop.
next time i wore cheap stuff, and managed to get to him
It can take a long time, the best way if it's possible is to get another class like a necro to anchor it, use a crappy weapon and just beat on 1 mob unti you get it. Took ike 3 mins for me that way.
The angels beat on Baium, they should leave you alone. I have seen them aggro players but if you just run in to stab it should be fine. Worry more about Baium aggro'ing you XD
When you port in there are no mobs at all, when Baium is woken up, then the angels come down.

Wow! You answered all my questions so clearly. You're my hero! Now I just need to kill Kernon, get bloody fabric on me and my SE and I'll be set.
What I plan to do is for me and my SE to port in to Baium. We will both move over right next to Baium. Then I'll have my SE wake him (and die - hopefully Baium's attack isn't AoE and kill me too), I'll try to pick up whatever he drops, then I'll cut Baium with the Pipette and BSOE.

Don't forget that in order to get the blooded fabric the SE has to hit on the Platinum. Not sure if it is actually that last hit, but must at least be hitting on the guy.
We just took an XP party there, planning to stay for a while. I got mine after about 15 minutes. Others in my party didn't get it til later, the last member getting it after about 2 hours.
bauim isnt a raid boss he is a mob boss (epic boss) so charms dont work
your se doesnt have to hit the mobs to get the quest item (at least not in C4)
you have an orc for a avator so ill go out on a limb and assume you have stun
drag 1 platinum warrior to the hallway and beat on it with a chrono stun it when you take damage and let vr do what it can while your se heals you
when it gets low on hp have the se heal it and buff it shield and leave out any DD buffs for you
i literally killed 200+ orcs noramlly and got no quest drops when i done the chrono thing i got the quest item in 10 minuets for me and 5 minuets later my se got it
also when you do get the bloody fabric go back and attempt to get a few more (quest guide on stratics will tell you how since i dont remember)
its quite possible something will go wrong and you will need to port back in again and its alot easier to get the other 9 bloody fabrics then the first one
Luck charms work on Baium; the description says "on a boss/raid" so they are supposed to work BOTH on the bosses (antharas, valakas, Baium, etc.) and raid bosses.
If you drop at a boss when you have a luck charm on, it's a bug and should be reported.

That's the problem with this board - old posts are deleted too soon :/
There WAS official clarification, like a year ago. Luck charms do NOT work on the epic bosses like Baium, Antharas and so on. By design.
I got one bloody fabric, and went to the NPC and she gave me 9 more white fabrics. The problem is that I had to go wake baium up for a friend before I could get blood on the other 9 fabrics, so I used my only bloody fabric. Question, if I go kill angels do I get blood on the other 9 or do I have to start the quest over?

I was actually going to ask if this was true as we just did this quest and that is one way we tried to do it.
Someone else in our clan did it this way but it took FOREVER. We started to do this for me but after a while it was "screw it". And we started just hunting mobs.
I got it shortly thereafter. Takes a long long long time.
I went "solo" too.
However, after I got the fabric, I went back to the NPC to see what the next step was and I just "started the quest over". I still have my fabric though. I think I need to look for another quest for Baium.

That's how I did it.. Got it in about 30 min, never killed a single mob.. A friend was doing the same thing at the same time, but his was taking so long I just gave up and went to bed.. I heard he logged off and tried again the next day, and the last I heard he still haven't gotten it..

You chose I want to see the emperor, right? Well.. If you have the fabric you can still got see him.. Have you done the Fate's Whisper quest? At the end you'll get the pippete knife to stab baium, that's all you need..

I tried to find that post again, but no luck :(
I'm positive that wasn't true in C4. My alliance took hundreds of deaths to Antharas in C4 without a single drop, except one person who ran out of luck charms before he could resupply from our officer. The charms were clearly working.
Baium didn't say my name! :( I think I died before he got the chance of..
Oh, and tricking friends into waking him up is not nice.. lol.. Look at what happened to me.. And the guy couldn't even stab him, he got killed by the angels since Baium was standing on that pedestal and wouldnt come down.. Seems like you have to kite the angels until he comes down, then you go and stab him and BSOE (or die)..
What we did the other day was take a level 40 sub'd character into Baium to wake him up. The quest items are shared between the main and sub characters, so the sub had the bloody fabrics too. At level 40 you can get the xp back in no time at all, and don't need to waste a brez on a high-lvl sacreficial toon.
If you are the one that needs to stab Baium with the knife, DON'T stand by him when he's being woken up. There is a high chance that he will kill you before he gets off his pedastal and you have a chance to hit him. Instead, stand far back (where you port in) and wait until you see him get off the pedastal. As you start running towards him, pop a greater healing potion, Heart of Paagrio, greater heal, or some other heal over time. You WILL get hit by Baium and/or the angels at least a few times before you hit him and BSOE.

Thanks Meate, great advice. Where is your avatar? Or is it just me who can't see it?
