Hey! I'm quite new to Lineage II and I was wondering if anyone would be able to suggest what I should go for with my current situation. At the moment, I have enough money for D grade armor or a D grade weapon, but not both. The D grade armor is the Mithril chest and gaiter pieces you can buy and the D grade weapon is a Sabre. I can't really decide at all. I normally go around with a buddy of mine on the server (he heals, I tank) so I was thinking about getting the armor since I am only wearing the wooden set right now. But then again, if I had a decent weapon we'd be able to take down the mobs much quicker.
Generally speaking, the weapon is always more important than the armor any levels before 40. I suggest getting the saber. Although I should think that the new player bonuses would give you more stuff to work with, it doesn't seem fair that a new player should be stuck in non-grade at 20 (except perhaps mages, but that's because Devotion set is basically overpowered).
So get the saber and try to work your way up. If you find yourself losing health too quickly, it might be wise to upgrade your armor then. But if you have a healer with you most of the time, you should do fine.
Well, the only new player bonuses I know of are the buffs you can get from the newbie guide and the added choice of exchanging items for a discounted price at vendors. The exchanging system doesn't work that well for me though. I can only get a bone shield using it, and that's pretty much identical to the shield I own right now.
Anyway, I'll go for the weapon then. Thanks for the help!
yeah...go weapon first. kill faster, so that means you'll get more money and be able to get your armor faster. and if you have a healer buddy with you...deffently weapon first.

Just to make shure, do you know about 12k non-grade ss from quests? If you didnt got those and didn't used any other shots, it culd be better for you to stay with NG wearpon and spam those shots away.
The upgrade system only works with no-grade equipment, that's why you can't get nothing better then bone shield from it. Or hard leather set (53pdef top, 33pdef botom).
Also, you can only exchange stuff up to lvl 25, just make shure you got all what you whanted from it while you can.

To clarify: you can either upgrade wooden armor up to hard leather set (light) as suggested above, or you can upgrade to piecebone armor (heavy) instead of hard leather and then one step further to the bronze armor (68/43 pdef).
Oh! That may have been the problem...haha thanks, Devlyne!
And yeah, I got about 13,000 SS from the starting Village I was in, but they did just run out recently and was horrifed when I saw how little damage I did with each normal hit.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome and for all the information guys! It really helps me out a lot.
