First of all, I took a long break from L2 (mainly irritated by B**s), but once u start playing L2 , its hard to stop completely. And now I think of coming back and play my beloved BH again.
My BH is about to lvl to 61. Now that I have a lance, I found out that leveling is not impossible.
So my question is , did BH improve in some way in C4? Are they useful? On Teon where I play, I rarely see other BH's,I wonder why.
they dont really get as many parties as they used to
as far as soloing goes ive had a fair few turn me down for parties even though i have triple the damage output and an out of party se

Low lv 60 BH myself and all I can say, it's almost impossibel to play an BH right now, ALL areas where we sopusly culd solo badly or duo who I prefer to play is soooo freeking infested with bots so yeah thers no tiny area left to play at all, yes I'm serious about this.
Thoght if your an member in an very active aliance/clan I'm sure you can find big groups then and then in catas, thoght cata spoil sucks, only yewelry peaces around lv 6x.
I've got a scavie that I play from time to time. I'm always sad when it levels because it means moving away from the mobs that have given the good drops. On the plus side I remind myself that there's bigger fish to catch at higher levels. Speaking of fish and BH has anyone spoiled anything good from the mobs you catch while fishing?
At 60 in an active clan, you should be in Martyrs Necropolis, second set of mobs(with the gargoyles). Good material spoils(tons of Mith Ore), and BoP shaft drops. You WILL have to kick out the farmers to hunt in a room, but that wasnt hard, just KS them for a few minutes and its yours.
I'm a mid 60's BH.
I love my class, and the new areas in C4 have GREAT spoils. They really did us some justice IMO with C4 as far as spoils go. The really good stuff you will need a party, but most parties will be reasonable if you discuss it beforehand, and if they won't.. find a different party.
Our class still sucks for PVP. We're by far the worst PvP class in the game.
PleChan, Im a 68 BH in an active clan that rarely goes hunting anywhere without me, or the 72 BH in clan. If I say there are good spoil somewhere, I KNOW what Im talking about. The second set of mobs in Martyrs has great material spoils. ToI 3rd floor has great spoils, 4th floor is decent, 5th is fair, 6 is great, 7 is awesome, 8 sucks, 9 sucks, 10 sucks, 11 sucks. DVC sucks once you drop deeper than Pytan Pit, on the otherhand, outside of DVC is great, you can spoil tons of Charcoal, even a FULL Fullplate spoil occasionally, and Dama 100% drops there. At 68, Forest of the dead is awesome for small group hunting with a BH. Valley of Saints is pretty decent for a low 60s BH in a small group. Beast Farm can be great depending on your luck and your ability to raise mobs up to fight. Forsaken Plains is STILL awesome to spoil all the way to 65, the tigers spoils Lube and EWBs. We can look at low 50s too if you want, bones by the ton in Apostate, EWBs in Apostate, BO Jewlery parts are NOT bad spoils, neither are the recipes, with the influx of new players to the game(as per RustNC) those BO jewlery will sell soon enough.
Im well versed in playing a Bounty Hunter, my knowledge of spoils is extensive, I play a BH as a main, and have since Open Beta.
I find my BH with a better end-game perspective than in C3. In fact I decided to level up to 75 and subclass instead of rerolling completely, because I think there are still things worth the grind for a high level BH.
The last weeks I get PMs from people who still need a BH in their group. 70+ rift is possible to spoil for a lvl 65 BH and very rewarding. Beast farm has no farmers (on Erica) can be solo'd with a little effort and spoil A grade weapon parts and recipes.
In PvP we suck more than ever. Hands down. Maybe it will get a little better with C5 tho.
If you have a good clan that is willing to give a useful addition to every party a chance despite our bad reputation... I'd say give it a try. If you don't have a clan or they are all leet-***** kids... reroll a necro and enjoy it until C5. ;)

You left out one of the best spoil spots of all for a mid to upper 60's BH.. you sly dog ;)

yea sucks, only thing you can do is group, getting bots in vos aswell now though on devianne =/.
I'm a lvl 75 BH and very close to 76. Let me start by saying that BH as a class has been greatly improved in c4. In c3 BH had little to no participation in the A grade market and was reduced to spoiling junk. Basically, at high level every spoil was basically the same and little to no diversity in what different high lvl areas spoil. Now in c4 BH can spoil A grade jewelry and weapon recipes. All A grade and S grade weapon, jewel and armor parts. I'd say its a very nice improvement. I found playing BH very depressing in c3 but now I'm happy I decided to stick it through.
One of the key reasons that non farmer BH's are rare is because of share spoil, it literally kills the class. No one wants to create a BH just to play Santa Claus. One way to avoid this is to find friends who respect you as a RL individual and trust what you will do to help people in game. Often times those who want the BH spoils forget that their is a live player playing the toon and only look at them as a dwarf. I've been playing with since Open Beta/Prelude and they are very comfortable with me keeping my spoils. Their policy is that BH was never meant to share spoils and up holds this rule even if there would be a non clan BH grouping with them. I can't ask for better friends than them.
Something that was lost in c3 was the interaction with other players. Since BH spoils were gimped in c3 I didn't have the materials other players were looking for. I remember many people asking me do I have Soul bow staves or Nightmare Helm designs. And when I told them no, they would ask doesn't BH spoil them? I told them BH is nothing like they were in c2 and are severly gimped. Eventually I lost lots of my consumers from c2. It was rather depressing. C4 is the total opposite, I have lots of people pming me from materials and lots of frequent consumers. Its a very good feeling because I enjoy feeling like a actual merchant and providing for players. I also keep records of how much adena I made daily in c3 at 6x-7x. It was around 1m per night(5hrs per night) I made more than that in c2 at lvl 3x. Now I make 20-25m per night (still 5hr shift). Again a noticable improvement with the class.
In regards to pvp, the class is lacking when your a BH. However when you reach the 3rd class Fortune Seeker it becomes a totally different story. When you enchant spoil and spoil festival they become similar to Overlord dots. It does a load of damage, my estimate is around 1.5k-2k. And the higher you over-enchant the skill the more frequently it lands. You can also enchant sweeper to be like corspe drain or it can drain MP back. Blunt masteries for Patk or Critical power. It really puts BH/FS on par with WS with the golem. My advice to you is to play your BH and find friends who respect you as a person so you can enjoy your class to the fullest.

Blunt for spoils, polearm for fast XP and no spoils.

BH are VITAL for non-ebayers/botters. I honestly cannot even understand how a clan with NO active BH can become well equipped. There are people out there with MUCH BH love, they are called the legitimate players of L2. In 2 hours in an undisclosed location I made 6 million adena in spoils with a Fortune Seeker and a full party. Everyone else in the party made pretty much the same kind of loot. Without a BH/FS I would be lucky to break 500k in items in the same location. The key to being a good BH/FS is knowing where the good spoils are, thats all you need to be concerned with. It sucks but most great spoil spots have TERRIBLE XP gain. It's just something that has to be accepted. If you play this game and feel you have NO choice other than to eBay/IGE/bot then either reroll a BH or befriend some. If you party with one on a regular basis adena will never be an issue.
I guess it depends on how good you are with "shift+left click"
It's not worth the hassle, but if you are gonna do the spoil festival thing bring a couple other dwarves to help with the sweepage. Otherwise it's just a pain in the ***.

My party never spams SS my friend. And re-read my post, anything they need I give.
You probably already know this (I didn't) but you can target them once they're dead. If your SE is any good, she should be able to take up the slack of you not hitting for 2 rounds. But yes, it's hard (and annoying) so mass spoil ftw!

You might want to use the search function ... you'll find a thread I have started making the counts of auto ss and money earned at level 60...
Many ppl with similar experience posted in it.

You kill evidently TWICE faster with auto ss... simple first grade math...twice the damage output... Killing faster makes leveling faster.
And for breaking the pockets I san sum it up by saying in a trio by spending 300k in BSS we were gaining 1 mil each in adena only.

expect any area made more for melee than nukers to suck donkey coconuts

I gave up my Bountyhunter at 61 because my clan started getting into pvp on a daily basis and I felt that as a dwarf my contribution to pvp wasn't meaningful. I rerolled to Overlord and I love my new class, but I definitely miss spoiling.
By the way, if you have a game controller like the logitech cordless rumblepad, you can use the trigger keys on the top of the device to automatically cycle through available targets (including dead mobs). This makes it much easier to sweep in aoe parties.
