Why Helms ?

Why did they make the Helm's so expensive?
You can't even see them on your toon. after spend all that freaking adena it would be nice if you could so it off.

Ya I know you have to have it to complete the set bonus. but you can't show of that. Well maybe you could.

Ya sword no problem they should be kind of expensive (I can't afford top anything maybe D) But if I did spend 100+ Adena for a Sword I at least go show it off.

any thoughts
Some people would like to see helmets, more (as far as I can see in the x million threads about this subjects) either don't really care or do NOT want to see helmets. My personal opinion is that as long as there is an in-game option to turn off helmet graphics on my screen and another option to make others not see my character's helmet, it would be OK with me to introduce helmet graphics.

But on the other hand I would prefer it if the graphics guys would spend their time on putting in the MISSING textures for a lot of armors (like robes on warrior classes or heavy/light armor on robe users - a real problem with subclasses) before introducing completely new stuff.
I am not asking to see the helm on my toon or anything. but why couldn't it be the boots that was the key to complete the set or the gloves. Something you could see.

I don't really want to see Helm graphics
Actually that depends on the grade and type of armor. Robes in d and c grade take gloves, light armor in d and c grade take boots, heavy in d and c grade take the helm. Once you hit b-grade though you need the whole thing, top, bottem, gloves, boots, and helm to complete the sets of all armors.
Depends on the set though. Theca needs the boots to complete the set, mithril the gloves. However B and up requires the armor, helm, boots AND gloves.
If you're talking about the A grade stuff, I would imagine that the helms are so expensive because they're basically the completers for the set. The helms are useable on the heavy, light and robe sets for the tallum, dc, nightmare, and majestic sets. I think there's only one unseal for them. Whereas when you unseal the boots/gauntlets you choose which set you want.

But really...NCSoft has to make an easier way to acquire some of these recipes for these things. It's just ridiculous as it is now.

By "they" I assume you mean players who somehow acquire large amounts of adena?

Except for unsealing fee and the gems in the recipe, the developers did nothing to set a price floor.

It's too bad they're so hard to get because the set-bonus benefits really make a difference (whereas they're of minimal benefit for low grades - consider full plate or composite, can complete forego the helm).
I hate to sound jaded, but what's to show off. There are thousands of players out there with the same gear because for each class there is a very limited number of "top" setups. It gets pretty easy to tell the offensive from the defensives, nukers and healers, etc. Now, if you were talking from a PvP aspect, as in sizing up an opponent, I can understand that.

I wish there was more diversity. I'd even take multiple sets that gave the same bonuses just so we could get some variation in players' look.

/Edit In fact, I'll amend my statement. I wish all suits of armor had some sort of set bonus, no matter how small. If a person collects all the pieces in a set, they should be rewarded. (See dead horse --> *flog*)
Or have it like the Diablo 2 system, where having the armor and boots gave a small bonus, the helm another bonus, the gloves full bonus. That kind of thing. So people like me wouldn't be setting on maj boots, robe, gloves for 6+ months and not being able to benefit at all.

Makes more since then the current system. Makes me want to play Diablo again (almost)

i would love to get a rune word on my Nightmare set. particularly ... Breath of the Dying (http://www.diabloii.net/items/runes/runewords-weapons.shtml#Breath%20of%20the%20Dying)
Man, that would be awesome. Imagine what NCSoft would do: "Avadon helm: +15% casting speed bonus." "Avadon Gloves: +15% casting speed bonus." "Dark Crystal Boots: +15% casting speed bonus." "Full plate helm: +1% shield blocking bonus."

Mix-n-match the outrageous bonuses for max effect!

Even if there was a single, small benifit to each piece, you'd still have 'best set' syndrome.
Wish we could have the 40% etc. chance to block shields like in D2. Almost makes me want to play it again also.

Would be nice to be able to customize our own armor colors instead of everyone looking like twins.
Can you imagine an archer with the split shot (9 arrows at a time) with a windforce (knockback). I'd own EVERYTHING.
WoW did it.. why cant L2? :)
because you touch yourself at night. :)

But erm, it would be nice, hell while we're at it can we make L2 free like diablo?
Speaking of Blizzard, they just added weather to WoW.
"Looks at NCsoft"
"Shakes head and keeps silent"

Yeah you would. :)

And Shadowbane went free also, but who knows how long that will last.
