Well it had been more than 1.5months since C4 has launched..........where is the guide book I need to get all the game info.

I know there are many fans websites there to provide drop info etc. But there are too many aspect of the game they have changed that I would like to know. I want colour maps, pictures and quest details/guide. I love to have a book beside me rather than alt tab all the time. Moreover my computer specs does not allow me to alt tab without crashing the game.

NCSoft, please! I want to pay you to get the info instead of some website who charge for info they dun even leaglly allowed to publish the materials. Give me the chance to contribute to ur yearly revenue in wadever small way I can....O man I beg you ^^.

Anyway just to side track, I remember a Strastic guy who had interviewed NCSoft pple in one of the exhibition before C4 was launch mention. I think he mention something like he will "squeeze" NCSoft if they dun release any guide book within a certain time frame. I really looking forward to it if I cannot get my book. ^^V
they have only released a C1 guide which is now almost all outdated. if u cant tab out look up stuff BEFORE u get in l2
If only we could get the attention City of Heroes and Villians get with their big huge updateable binder guide.

GG.
Binder? wow...I want those too
We will get the guidebook in time for Chronicle 13. :D
Hmm I don't really want a guide because I enjoy researching and finding stuff out on my own and it inspires people to use their intuition and creativity to make websites rather than following a character production line where everyone does exactly the same thing.

What I do want though is the mini posters that used to be available before and during beta, I saw an internet cafe decked out with them once and I've never been able to find them for sale.
well.....I gonna keep this thread alive till I get my hands on a new guide book for C4 L2 lolx

you can't be serious
I dont think the scrapped princess will get a C4 guide book ever.

KEEP RUNNING!
Go to stratics, thats the closest you have to a guide book.

ROFL.. hahahahaha..

umm... don't hold your breath.
still the point stands that this is a MAJOR mess up on some ones hands the game compony and the publisher see money from this i would like to know why nc soft doesent want to make more money
probably because it would be too expensive to produce, noone is around to do it and the C1 guidebook probably didn't sell too well.
Also we've learned that droprates were adjusted over time depending on adena 'production'.

So they'd be very fast outdated.
However i've heard of some sites with pretty accurate droprates.
Prima who?

(In the Prima offices) L2 what?
NCSoft made a big deal about apologizing why the C2/C3 Prima guide was delayed and made all kind of "soon" promises. Not only did it never materialize, but we are now in C4 and it's not even mentioned anymore by NCSoft. Its like they decided to just not respond and hope we forgot about it. And, yes, other NCSoft games have big, beautiful, full-color, glossy binders of information, also made by Prima.

So, NCSoft, what's the deal? Any news at ALL? There are plenty of other problems that we hope you are dealing with regarding L2, but any news on a guide? This has to be one of the most shameful ways I have ever seen a business handle something like this. We can't even get an official response on the boards anymore.....
Now just hold on there for a second....

It's not NC that made the guide it was prima, so if you want to blame anyone. Then blame prima!!!
Heck...

I'd make a guide if I had access to high level content. :)

Oh..and got paid enough to quit my day job. ;)
if anyone had access to the drop rates then within a month we would see some good guides popping up here and there, they are actually released on the korean site. So, who wants to translate the korean site??

It is NCSoft who decides who is allowed to make a guide. According to one of the comments of Primagames they had issues "to pull stats directly from the game code" [source] (http://www.primagames.com/forums/read/73999/), if this is true NCSoft is to blame to be unable to deliver that data in a useable form. If this is not true, Prima is to blame for being idiots and NCSoft is to blame for not picking a different company to release a guide. And if it wouldn't be worthwhile moneywise to release a guide and no company is interested in that, it would be NCSoft to blame for not telling us so. How you can ignore the central role of NCSoft in this case beats me.
OK, so Prima said it was NCSoft's fault for not giving them the info, and NCSoft said it was Prima that was holding things up. Either way, someone dropped the ball. If NCSoft had a contract with NCSoft to do the guide, and they didn't deliver, then why isn't NCSoft doing something about it? Maybe they are and we just don't know because NO ONE HAS TOLD US ANYTHING! Instead they prefer to let the whole subject just drift off into oblivion and hope we forget we were ever promised an updated guide.

I think NCSoft does a pretty good job at most things, and I know they are not perfect, and that is fine. Neither am I. I am not one to jump on the "Bad NCSoft" bandwagon very often. But this issue just is so dissapointing in the way it's been handled from the start. Not to mention the drop rates are GIVEN to the Korean sites. We know we are the L2 stepchildren here in NA, but come on.....
this is just the patern of nc north america in regaurds to l2 say nothing at all ..
And STILL.... no official response....... Surprised? Not I.....
When C4 went live in Korea, they got a Guide Book(from NCSoft), plus a ton of info added to the official website (like drops). I remember making a thread about the Guide Book. I would hope that we're hopefully going to get it one day.
yeah, a guide would be handy. don't get me wrong, the fansites have the information I need, it is just more than a little inconvienent to have to tab out of the game if I have to look something up.

I'm currently trying to get my old (real old. Pentium 90 kind of old) laptop revivied enough so that it can at least run Firefox, but as of yet, it is being a little stubborn.
Well actually, if the Korean sites already have the drop rates available via the website, I would assume that it is being pulled from a database of some kind. If this database exists, than it really would be a simple case of creating fields in the database for the english translation parts. For example, if there is a field called item_name then create one called item_Name_english. One would think that there is already an existing backend admin system for such a database? If such exists, you could easily add these extra field and have a translater go through them and add in the english parts. That being said, once it is done it would just be a matter of letting the NCOSFT America team have access to that same database to pull from, letting the programmers on NCSOFT NA know the database layout/diagram, assuming again that NCSOFT NA's software development team are capable of doing this kind of backend work.

It is a poor excuse to say that they are not able to release a guide of any sort just because the Drop Rates are hard to come by. They could create a guide EXCLUDING the drop rates and just have a reference to an english site that has them. But again, if such a database is available in the first place, you could very well include the drop rates into a guide and make a similar book like Prima did for C1.
Gullible as I am, I really expected a drop table (on this site) when I hear the Koreans got it. They haven't fully updated to C4 yet, so maybe there's hope.. maybe.
Ha ha ha ha.... silly Champa, you think they are going to put the drop rates on the site for us???? Its not just that the Koreans have them but aren't updated, they have had them ALL ALONG. How long have you been playing L2? Surely you ought to know better than that by now..... If not, you will know it eventually, I'm sorry to say. After 2 years, I have definately seen where the NA market stands in NCSoft's eyes. I wish I had your opitimism Champa, I really do, but its long gone on this subject.

And STILL, no comment from anyone official.......
Well... I was hoping for an Official Guide myself for a long time... Seems like it's not gonna happen though. Why? Beats me... Really does.

By the way, isn't this board supposed to be here for us to discuss the game in general but for NCSoft also, so that they can monitor players' views and suggestions...They could really use them. It is actually us that support this game, right? (should be really, although botters do probably own the majority of active accounts but they 'll be out of business without "real" players to sell to anyway...). So, does any of this really reaches the eyes of someone with any real authority to change (or atleast suggest changes to) anything?
