PvP question

Hi all,
I have a question about a PvP incedent that happened last night.
I made a new Elf alt and left him some NG gear in the warehouse. I logged in, ran off to pick it up. When I ran back to the Temple area there was another player there killing the gremlins. No problem, I don't like to crowd other players and I had top NG so I went to kill the dogs right next to temple area. From where I was I could see the other player behind me nuking the gremlins. When I attacked one of the dogs he fire at me and hit WHILE he was in clearly inside the temple area. I was clearly outside the temple area. Was this a legal attack? I stopped what I was doing and he backed off. Should I have reported him? I know if we where both inside the temple he would have commited an illegal attack but in this case Im not sure. If this guy is hanging around killing new people to the game he deserves to be reported.

well if he was hitting more than one at a time , he wasnt a noob

but, he can only damage you if he targets you with the spell, or you hit him so your purple...

most times the aoe dmg looks like its hitting you.

if he did hit and kill you , yeah , thats a bored player doing his best to make you mad.

with bored players usually they stop after a while, to leave you in peace

You can shoot ppl with ranged attacks from inside, you can also shoot ppl inside from the outside.

you have to use forceattack, and shift (so you dont move)

I don't think anyone that's killing Gremlins has any AOE attacks..

Irrespective of whether the person attacking you was a noob or a higher lvl character someone was using to annoy noobs, whatever attack they make on you is 'legal' - this is a pvp game and the GMs will not do anything against anyone attacking another player.

Griefing is, imo, stupid and immature and does nothing but prove that the person is scared to take on ppl their own lvl, but as far as ncsoft is concerned its all part of the game and allowed.

Yes, I know that this a PvP game..... this my new alt not a the main. He did not accidentally hit me with an AoE. I was a good distance away and saw the bolt launch from him and fly towards me and hit me. He did not kill me, in fact he did very little damage. (I had all top NG gear plus jewery) I could probably killed him with one hit even at lvl 1.
I was of the impression that the temple area was the same as the town areas. Safe zones. Thats what the system boardcast message says. Towns and temples are safe zones and no PvP is allowed.
What I am asking is, is it "ok" to fire from a "safe" zone out into a PvP zone? As far as I know you can't fire from the inside of a town at someone who is outside the town.....the starter temple area falls under the same catagory as the towns as far as I know.

A couple things here. Since he was hitting you with magic he had to have at least reached lvl 7 to get windstrike lvl 2. He may have delvled back to 4 or something, but lvl 1 windstrike won't let you use it on other players. Also what you describe is something that is considered an exploit. What you say he did was fire from within a safe zone to a free pvp zone. The way that is done can be complicated and I will not discuss the details of it. If it happens again try taking a decent screenshot of him clearly firing from within a safe zone and report him to the GM's using the SS as proof. No guarantee anything will come of it though but it's worth a shot.

I have several times seem my box-chars hit mobs from a distance with a close-encounter-weapon(eg. a sword)

On my screen they stand a long distance from the mob, but on the box-char streen they stand next to the mob.
