can someone please clarify what the difference is between a a soul shot and a spirit shot. I having trouble finding info and I'm a bit confused.
Soulshot is a shot that is used on melee fight. You use soulshots when you engage hand to hand combat or use a bow to shoot at the opponent.
(Blessed) Spirit shot is something mages use to enhance the power of their spells. Blessed spirit shot doubles the damage from the spell and cuts casting time.
so basically: Soulshot = melee, spirit shot = mages
Weapons can use soulshots, spiritshots and blessed spiritshots and you can see how many they will use per hit or spell by looking at the weapon stats.
Pure melee characters rarely have any need for spiritshots or blessed spiritshots, but casters can and do use both since although the goal for a caster is not to be in physical combat with something it does happen and when it does usually you need to kill whatever, very fast.
You can automate shot usage by dragging the shot icon from your inventory to your hotkey bar and right clicking on it. When you want to stop auto use, just right click again.
It's popular now to spam shot usuage, but a small minority of people (me for one) only use them in emergencies. Spamming (using them on every hit) will help you kill faster and if you have the funds to be able to do it, you will definately find that you level faster. I just don't believe the cost of the shots justifies the decrease in time when you look at how much money you end up spending.
Well.... These answers are close, but I would explain things just a little differently. Soulshots will increase the Patk of the next attack used. Spiritshots (and Blessed Spiritshots) will increase the Matk of the next attack used.
While most of the time folks hit the soulshots for a weapon attack and the spiritshot for a magical cast, that need not be the only way to use the shots. Most weapons have a Patk and an Matk value. You can use spiritshots to increase the Matk of a weapon's attack. It just isn't very helpful and is very costly.
Be aware if you have 'automatic use' for spiritshots 'on' (right-clicked on hotbar) the shots will be used for any weapon attack you make while in that state.

You can have both soulshots and spiritshots on auto for every single attack but a soul and a spirit will not be used at the same time.
Spirit shots will only be used for magical attacks/skills (twister or other attack spells, hex, root, sleep and other curses plus buffs and heals) and soulshot only will be used if you actually smack em with the weapon.
(sorry if i misunderstoof your post and you already knew that).
To original poster.. to confuse matters there are 3 kinds of shots.
Soulshots double the power of physical attacks.
Spiritshots increase the power of magical attacks by 1.5
Blessed spiritshots double the power of magical attacks and increase casting speed.
It has also been noticed that blessed spiritshots will improve the likelyhood of curses such as hex, sleep and root landing...not sure if this is also true of normal spiritshots since I never use em.
Just so you know if your sps/bsps is automated you will also use them while you buff. It doesn't matter if its offensive/defensive/buffs or healing they will be used anytime magic is used..
