I haven't seen that definition in L2.. but if you look at it more closely you have to have a massive amount of time on your hands... or cheat...

Once again, all the complaining here, doesn't top our treatment on hindemith. All of our hero's accomplishments were deleted and they have zero points due to a glitch they say wasn't there. All of our noblesses fought in vain. So i guess we are lucky not to see the hero voices hehe.
Some of our heroes are illegitimate players, just like on the other servers I am sure. I am sure you are correct in their will be abuse. Turning it off is simple though.

hey guys this is a game and the traditional meaning of a hero or any other form is irrelavent. I think it's obvious that being hero doesn't make you a hero, like these people are really someone to look up to. These are people that have been the game a long ***** time and arn't the best players we have ever encountered.

Well, they are individuals who have made a special achievement in a particular field. Also, in the definition:
The principal male character in a novel, poem, or dramatic presentation.
In some ways, the people who have done this are movers and shakers (for good or bad?) of each server.
I think people are hanging too much on the term "hero". There are also anti heroes as well.
There really is no real way to define "who is good and who is bad". Look at the people who have blue names. Are all of them good people who got the rec because of good deeds? Or did they get their friends to give them recs. What about the people who trade buffs for recs? Seems more like a business transaction to me.
So in short, if you see your local hero acting in a way that seems "less than heroic" then just apply the term "Anti-Hero" and that might make it a bit more palatable if not more understandable.
And in the end you can turn Hero chat off (or so people say)
I say we need rules to define our Hero and Anti-Hero. And give the person at that time the option if they want to become one or the other, but to keep things in check. A hero can become an anti-hero by preforming non-hero things like Pking.

I appreciate your passion on the subject but that won't work. I highly doubt that some players will look at the pop-up screen that says "will you be a hero or an anti-hero" and will answer appropriately.

hero chat is good, and often funny on bartz... we have a good group of heroes imo... sure there is the occasional wts/wtb shouts, but so what? if you are in an xp zone that is prolly all you have in your chat window... if you are in giran what's the difference?

Nah, could be good idea, but is not used well. If Joe Blo and his crew were getting jumped by an opposing force, hero chat could call in re-inforcements, etc. things such as that. Or, castle siege gone bad, hero could call to the server for assist. Instead, all we get are wtb/wts, or joe somebody is a [insert insult here] or whatever.
I have this useless chat unchecked, if "Hero's" want to use it as the new ****za talk channel to promote how much of dumb butts they are, let them do so on death ears.
Wonder if counter-spam would be too much...every time there's a global "WTB!" message, have your whole clan (alliance!) answer back as if they were interested in selling (whether or not they have the item). It'd be hilarious :D
LOL on my server only 1 alliance has it turned on since all but 1 of the hero's is in that alliance. To bad everyone has already figured out how to rig the outcome to hero event. Another good idea destroyed buy the player base.

I agree it should be renamed to Champion becose thats all they are, hero they are NOT. On my server the bigest griefer clans is the ones with most hero's and... hell they aint hero's at all.

Only 1 thing wrong with this.....how can you be happy for "pvpers" that supposedly represent the best of their classes.....when in actuality the only skill 50% + showed was the uber skills of exploiting (throwing) fights for eachother.
You can back up such people if you like, making them sound like they deserve their positions as heros......
People believe this virtual world means it's acceptable to have no morals and treat eachother like crap and to cheat is deemed a necessary to be considered worth something. In the end we are all human and someday this game wont exist and people will move on to the next games and continue their behavior for better or worse.
I have nothing xLance against good pvpers wether people like them or not having earned their "hero" status. Most of us do have a problem when in fact they didnt "earn" it.
Don't like it, change it yourself. Get yourself to 75 twice, do the competition, then if you out pvp all of your competition, uphold those things. Hell, not enough? get your friends to do it too. But don't spend your time complaining on the forums about it, spend your time leveling up so you can get a spot as a hero and take out one of the people who spam.

Like, for instance, apon becoming a hero you basically are given a liscense to print money. Enchant scrolls are relatively cheap for heros, along with many other expencive items.
Their weapons are insanely imbalanced. NC recognizes this, thats why theres such a limited amount of heros. How about you cry about that?

Heros are the endgame, and as such they should be held to the same awe we saw on the PTS, ~1 week of useless spam, and after that it was really cool ,, they were organizing, and announcing.
players value things differrently , state your opinion, and leave it at that.
On the PTS we had true hero's, wont happen on live though because people fear pvp more. On the PTS because there was basically no penatly for pking or dieing we could act like real American hero's. At least myself and a few others were acting heroicly, helping out the common man and clearing areas of red filth.
Although Im surpirsed lionna, the role play server, has jerk heros lol.

I really wonder if the 'heros' actually understand that the hero chat is seen by everyone? Profanity, people calling people ****es, refering to the big 'N' word. What's up with that?
Thought I have seen a couple of heros on sieghardt (ATN for one) give the location of Blacksmith & Merchant of Mammon on a regular basis. That, to me, is the type of things that heros do.

He pays his cash to play as he likes, it he chooses to be on the boards then that's his right. Your attacks on other's play style degrades your comments.
Bear in mind that Hero Chat falls under all the same restrictions as regular chat channels. If they swear, use racist remarks or anything else offensive and against the EULA, PLEASE Screenshot it and send it to NCSoft. I would bet that they will tolerate far less in hero chat than they do in the normal chat channels. I expect before long we will see someone LOSE thier hero status because they wont stop doing the same things they've done to get to that point.
Its best to leave it on, i dont wanna miss anything to do with the server politics, like who owned who. Its all important stuff, we need 2 know who is top dawg.
Well all I have to say is as soon as the hero's were picked I disabled the chat because I got tired of the top alliance with every hero except 1 shouting out where there enemies are.
Hero1: xxx Clan hunting XXX spot with x people
Hero2: xxx Clan hunting xxx with x reds hurry and get them
I mean We just ported in with no one around we looked all in Screen range of hte port and no one was there. Then we go into Imperial Tomb and we find a Spy at the NPC that gives the quest there and find a Spy sitting there.. Great way to show that you use certain programs.. I mean that can't be more stupid to do. No one around and they are shouting out where people are..
Its the new Chat to tell everyone where people are so they can come and gank everywhere. Its a horrible Idea for our server because the hero's are nothing but trash and have been known to break the EUA all the time and openly admit it.
Hero's just unbalanced the server that much more instead of bringing the gap together they jumped ahead that much more.. Its so sad its not even funny.
I just wish it was a different color, too close to clan chat for me.
Maybe it is different on other servers, but on Bartz the heros are pretty much split between 4-5 alliances, and then a few other heros are the only ones from thier clan/allience and even at least 2 untagged/unclanned heros.

Ya thats why I blame the players and not NCSOFT. They implemented a good idea into the game. It's just a shame that almost every time something good comes along someone figures out a way to cheat the system. Usually its the same people too who are taking advantage of holes and programing errors to abuse the new stuff.
Unfortunatley by the time I will be elible to participate it will probably obsolite or so abused it wont be worth the trouble. Just like the Dusk/Dawn system.
Ok Splatters if you don't like what the Hero chats being used for and you dislike this game so much cause what other people do I vote you try the following.
1/ Uninstall Lineage2
2/Buy a Copy of WoW
3/Find a roleplaying server (Since thats exactly what you sound like is a RolePlayer)
4/Did you know on a WoW RP server is someone says anything Out of RP Character they can be banned from the RP server
5/ Live happily ever after
BTW Everyone refers to Lionna as a RP server but if you look at the percentages of RPers to Normal players RPers only make up for at most 5 to 7%. Which i can imagine is about the same as other server. Honestly wish people would stop calling lionna a RP server. And as stated erlier WoW has RP only servers Maybe L2 needs one of those and transfer all the RPers there that way they can have there "Hero's" that act the part VS real people that play a game to be the best and have the most.
