It's ben tuesdays for over a 2 years now, some random days thers ben some patches on other days but thats not there official server maintaince time, beocse the server is down no mater what on tuesdays even if they gonna patch on thursday.
You mentioned variable times for maintenance in the last week.
Weekly scheduled maintenance is only on Tuesday's at the time given on the website.
This was variated slightly last week due to the American's changing their clocks later than Europeans, so downtime occured 1hour later in Europe.
The other maintenance periods you have seen are done for various reasons, perhaps to add a new patch that can't wait, to fix a problem or to do something else, who knows.

I lol'ed. But yeah, Last week Tuesday's maintaince also happened on Thursday; and I read something like that happened a couple of weeks ago too.
And this scheduled maintaince is taking a weee bit longer than the norm.
They must be doing something big if it says 48 hours, but after that little display, ill take that with a grain of salt.
Chances are they are changing the DNS of the login server, as thats how long it takes some times for DNS issues to work themselfs out.
I thought about this too, last time I had issues with that I was able to clean out the dns list or what ever (directions were posted on this forum by the player base). I'll have to use search if that is the case this time.

Maybe in your dream... I asked about it IG to a GM while teon was crashing every 5 minutes and when we weren't able to log in cause of heavy charge...
He told me that he was sorry, but that nothing would be done : no reimbursment, no compensation, no free play time.
NCSoft policy is what you pay is paid, even if it's for nothing. So maybe you'll be able to reconnect immediatly, maybe you'll never be able to connect again, but in every case, forget your money lol !

Me 45 (no acuracy buffs) it 41-43 (no agility buffs/pasives). And missing 8 times on 1 mob.. Hapened like 3 times in an hour or so.

BTW Mistryl, the support web site sucks. Bring back the support email. There is no link to contact support on there. If you choose an issue and game then click the contact support link that comes up it takes you back to the home page. There is no link to contact them.

You know i am sayin this cuz i am upset but come on ppl wth 48 hours i pay to play this game like every one else the most it should ever take is 2 hours if that.That is a waste pf the money i put in to this game lucky i am a addict to it .

As a note to everyone I would casually remind you that usually when they update the login servers all bots are unable to login and it requires an update to their programs. It's not much, but at least the game might be active-cheat free for a day.
Of course, if your ISP updates it's DNS slowly then you might not even login to see it.

DNS is only if they change adress name, not IP chang.
What ever they call the adress you have to get to connect to the IP adress. sooo for me the login server ip 206.127.151.66 i found in a post is not working, would have worked if all DNS servers where down everywhere....
Full check IS downloading. So there is the problem. They updated and patched but it takes a full check to get back in... I'll let you know when it's done if I can get in.

and log in :)

Its not difficult to do. First show all hidden files, navigate to your 'hosts' file which in windows xp its default location is c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc Edit in wordpad, add the ip address then tab over and type in the l2authd.lineage2.com for the login server name. Press save and connect to the game.

It worked for me. I did it a couple of times and threw in an ipconfig /registerdns for kicks and it popped up right away. However, it will depend on where you are on the network. Some of the DNS servers won't have the updated ip addresses yet.
As to the question of having to patch the game, the answer is no. When they change the ip address that is attached to the "name" they use, the name stays the same "in the game files" but it will take a little time for the new ip address of the server to get around to all of the DNS servers on the 'net. If you happen to be unfortunate enough to be a distance away from the their DNS, it will take more time for your DNS server to get the updated ip address. However, once it does get the ip address, the ipconfig commands will get you going faster than just waiting for your machine to realize it needs to get the new address.

Open the host file in ect. I used notepad. At the very bottom put in the IP address. Space over a few times and put the web address in. Click file, then save. Close the window and log in.

Yup, I tried the flushdns method several times, but this method resolved the DNS issue, although it forces the DNS to use the IP... Hey whatever works. Thanks guys.

Problem with doing this is now everyone that just did it, is hosed the next time NC changes their server IP's and if it's 1-2 yrs from now who's going to remember they mod'd that file. I have simpler fix but can't post as NC SOFT told me not to or I get in trouble when i yelled at TechSuppt on phone earlier, even simpler than /flushdns :: host file mod.... :confused:
ok, i go to my computer, windows, system32 then drivers..in my drivers file there is no etc folder.
if i go to run and type in c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts then it pulls it up and asks what program to open it to and i select notepad. once in notepad there is an example or two, then a long list of things my spybot antispyware program has in there..i go to the bottom of the page and type in
216.107.242.195 l2authd.lineage2.com or whatever the exact thingy is and click save..it tells me it cannot find? or write? that folder? it wont let me save, and if i save as instead it only saves it as a text file and does no good at all...so i still cant get in, i have tried flushing my dns repeatedly to no avail, neither my BF or i can log in on either account or computer and my temper is fast reaching the end of its rope..
any suggestions a computer illiterate girl can follow?
Well now I'm furious. Tried all solutions offered - the command thing, the host file thing, shutting down, restarting, submitting a ticket (lol to that ^^) and guess what?

Ok I just did that etc folder thingy with the host file... IT WORKED!! it may say at the bottom, but I put it directly undearth the last IP address. I typed the IP (Numbers) one space then the lineage2 thingy (the word) clicked file, save. And logged in. It worked. I read somewher up the post you may have to delete later, due to the problem being fixed. Make sure you copy and paste the Origional Host file somewhere else. Just incase ~.^
Im gonna go play now, thanks whoever origionally posted the thing. You should ask for a job at NCsoft!!

lol deleted my post, what was there to hide you run the game off the unreal engine any idiot knows that ip and domain names as well as UT Bot names are stored in the ini file, I am giving ncsoft helpful advice on how to have more uptime, I don't see the point in why my post was removed but as I said before, Ncsoft/L2 could ease the trouble and send an updated l2.ini file through the update server that has the correct server ip address this way people without computer know how can play as well, I guess those upstairs never thought about it eh. :p

Deathruler the etc thingy did not work?? >'.'< Did you write all the stuff below the last IP address, and SAVE it? Remeber to put a space between the address and the words. Just one. Im playing right now, but I always have to rest after killing like 10 enemies to get mana back ^_^;

Since when? I've never had to reboot when editing the host file on the fly. Perhaps Win2K does, don't remember.
In XP and W2K it depends on the age of the item being cached to reset this cache (same thing a reboot causes ) you can run nbtstat -R and nbtstat -RR from command line clears your name cache, as well as run the afomentioned ipconfig /FLUSHDNS
