I have Lvl 61 Gladiator Full A grade gear I PVP a Lvl 64 Necro full in A grade gear they are very tough I only beat him 3 times out of 7 duels but there still beatable  but they seem like PVP machine debuffs anchor, nukes etc. Oh well I like my HP PVP Gladiator I can beat mostly any class my Lvl range I have harder time with Necros, and Spell Howlers so far.
My lvl 66 necro sub is better in PvP in basically every way possible over my 75 gladi. The only thing my gladi have over the necro is HP/CP/P def. But with a summon out the necro has more hp also.
Pros for necro:
2 "i win" skills, anchor for melee/archer, silence for mages
900 attack range
sleep
greater m def
greater restistance to sleep/root
Much higher DPS (at the full 900 range)
Can slow the gladi
Pros for gladi:
more cp
more p def
more evasion
Sorry to say, but an equal lvl necro with beat an equal lvl gladi 99/100 unless the gladi totally gets the drop on the necro.
Even then... Tyrants and Glads are the toughest class for Necros to pvp against... Tyrants being number 1.
lol, no. Tyrnats have a much better chance then gladis due to runspeed and can stun with fists. But still necro should win pretty ez against a tryant also.
The hardest classes for a necro to fight is archers/other mages/OL/WC.
Mages are the some of the easiest classes for Necros to beat. In 1v1, I can guarantee that I will win against all of them other than another necromancer 100% of the time, unless they get a crit on me.
Tyrants are number one for reasons stated before, but glads are number two because of their hp and and ranged attacks. In group pvp... if i'm targeted by a glad... I have to run hard just to stay out of range.... I can't waste any time trying to kill those nuking beefcakes with monstrous melee skills.
The same can't be said about a mage. I do their damage, and I last twice as long. I have proven this time and time again. Cancel doesn't stop me, and silence barely ever lands. Where does that leave mages? Dead at my feat. WCs and OLs are trickier, but it always ends the same... depending on whether or not I have resist shock on ( and I never leave home without it... CH ftw ).

lol, i love the offical forums.
Para lands like 70% of the time on human/orc/dwarf fights when about = lvl. On top of that, once sleep lands a necro can run up, do mass slow (high land rate) and kite all day long with 900 range and faster run speed vs. the 600 range a gladi has.
For a gladi to have massive hp, then he can't go + dex (unless he goes -str). A gladi and necro will have about the same run speed for most common set-ups and therefore you will have 600 range (gladi) which can do ok damage but would need to be charged up to be fully effective. while it takes a gladi a sec or 2 to charge up, the necro can drop 2k damage ez in that time, and with TP going (along with use of vamp claw later when the gladi is out of cp) the necro will outlast a gladi trading ranged atacks.
Nukers getting a silence to land or getting important buffs cancalled (emp/acumen/mental sheild) is a much more deadly to a necro then anything a melee can do besides the possiblilty for a tyrant.
That BS about silence actually landing or having your necro cancelled being deady?
Sorry, I didn't realize I was talking to a newb.
Oh, and FYI, I rock glads/ tyrants any time I get. It doesn't change the fact that they are the toughest to kill ( other then another necro )... so I don't know what you're trying to convince me of. Your explanation alone proves that they are harder to kill then the other classes ( which only takes gloom + nuke.. lol daggers and mages, and archers to a lesser extent ).
Silence and Paralyze are not going to land with any regularity in normal 1v1 or 9v9 PvP. Mages will have DC robes on and have Mental Aegis so it will come down to a nuke-fest and who lasts longer combined with pet control.
Sure, you can get lucky... but counting on luck is a bad policy when you have it as good as a necro does right now.
Necros win vs other mages because they have more than twice the HP and the same damage output along with an insanely powerful offensive pet. Note that necros have no downsides in PvP to match their double-size HP and pet useage other than a slight adena cost.
Any class that doesn't have Fear will have to deal with the pet.
A mage must sleep the necro and pet at once(good luck with that as the necro will have mental aegis and you have to cancel/sleep while dealing with the pet and necro!) Then kill the pet (it will die reasonably fast as its defenses are low but Hp are high). Then kill the necro. Why the pet first? Because if it gets next to you, NO mage can cast well through the pet hitting you. If you hit the necro while the pet is slept, it wakes up due to TP.
After you go through this, you now face only a sorceror-level damage output/HP. (poor necro... he is only ONE character's worth of power now!)
I don't know how a glad would deal with the pet other than ignore it or kill it.
If the glad ignores the pet, then the necro just snares the glad and runs around while the pet owns the glad.
If the glad kills the pet (and he will) he takes a nasty hit to HP while the pet and necro beat the living daylights out of him.
A skilled necro with similar equipment should only ever even be reasonably challeneged 1v1 by Tyrant, Overlord and Warcryer. Everyone else should be way too easy.
Sps, Sorc, SH, and the summoners have a small chance to win but will usually lose. Archers need to crit many times in a row to even have a remote chance against a necro. (or the pet simply owns them)
Necros are brokenly overpowered 1v1 as it stands.
(Too much damage output over time for their massive effective HP.)
They are so poweful that a necro is almost an even fight for TWO of any other class but tyrant, overlord, or warcryer.
FYI do not measure the necro class by the n00bie rerolls...
It's bad enough that dark vortex does 30% more then the other nukes, and can heal for over 1k hp in pvp... but when it lands (surrender to darkness + mp drain... with a very high landing rate), you can easily do 1.6-3.5k per nuke to fully buffed characters in top A grade.
Well to be fair... Surrender to (insert element) + (insert element) vortex provides nice damage as well... they do not drain though... Interesting to see they overbalanced necros even in late game...
All mages own all melees -- that is the real disparity in this game. The rest of the "inter-mage" comments are just bitxhing by mages who are mad that necros are a tad better than them.

I've never read anywhere that the effects of Surrender to X and X Vortex actually stack. Do they?

gloom stacks with surrender to fire/water/wind/earth/poison I don't think surrenders stack though.
Necromancer will eat me alive in siege style open pvp at 900 range. But if its arena pvp i can stand a chance. But seriously arena pvp means jack all in this game, its all about open pvp. On the otherhand Duelists can beat necros/soultakers alot easier, simply because of focus rage and ripo stance. Its always fun to hear necros go MY PARA/SILENCE/VORTEX DEFLECTED ON ME!!!!!

What you don't seem to understand is that necros are nearly twice as powerful as a Sps/SH/Sorc due to effective HP.
Mage offensive power is supposed to be balanced by low HP and weak defenses. Any melee balancing would hinge on that fact. This dynamic already works when archers fight mages because they kill them before the mage finishes his 3rd or 4th nuke. Archers are DWARFED by necros at this point. Mages can only even start to compete if they can get sleep to land. Where do you think melee stand?
If necros stay how they are, and melee are brought more in line with ranged units, necros will still be twice as powerful as any class. This is still broken.
Melee needs some lovin... no one argues that.
A simple skill that allows melee to close the distance faster (sprint/charge/etc) seems quite overdue.
There are other damage formula and spell and melee mechanics that could use some tweaking too...
The overall effect should be to "bring the melee up to the mages/archers" and not "nerf everyone to nothingness".
The only exception at this point is to bring the necro down to mage/archer level. (unless we are going to bring everyone up to necro level which isn't fair for PvE.)
I think perhaps you are not interested in balance... I think you just want to be broken when you subclass.
The only problem is that everyone is subclassing necro...
i don't think that Necros are a super class, i know that i can beat a necro as long as the lvl difference is nothing above 5 lvls, i play PS and use Soulless for pvp. the necro can try and debuff my servitor all he likes but thats not so easy, esspecial when a lvl 61+ SH can fail to silence him 5 times in a row using bsps, soulless also has high damage output compaired to the other summons in my list. necro is still in the end a robe class, (i also use normal attacks) also i have spark cubic which has a fairly high chance to land stun, but im not saying that i can't be just as easily defeated by a necro either.
I think people fear necros so much because they don't know how to fight them. First off, the game is about group/mass PvP and if you plan on going up against mages effectively you NEED a SwS/SM. Warding and Invocation and Dark Vortex won't even do more than 1K damage on me and it doesn't even land on me all the time, and thats without Divine Protection which is 25% resistance. I don't know if people realize it but dance of mystic only means 10% more damage, that means Divine Protection basically negates mystic and then some, except on debuff/sleep/etc. land rates. And Warding and Invocation happen to be the first 2 songs a SwS learns, and are now more important than ANY OTHER SONG in PvP INCLUDING Hunter. Also like someone else stated, necro summon drops easily. They got like 600 pdef/mdef, but they do got a lot of HP. However an archer can 1-3 shot them quite easily. And just face it, in real PvP (mass PvP) you RARELY find yourself 1v1 anybody, there is always some kind of support or people assisting one another. Necros are strong. Necros are GODs at 1v1, but so is any class with sleep pretty much, lol. 1v1 doesn't mean shiit. Without Sleep mages are not that powerful, which just so happens we got Waking Scrolls for that and SMART PvP groups USE and ABUSE them. There are buffs that bring nuke damage from 1400 down to 600, the same cannot be said about archer damage, Crush of Doom, Punch of Doom or TSS unless some lucky crit blocks. Hell, Destroyers in Frenzy and Rage can one hit nukers and archers with Crush of Doom, lol, and with proper rushing them getting into melee distance isn't that difficult.
i totally agree......i think its just a matter of knowing how to beat the necros. and as far as necros owning glads and all this talk about going *** for tat with ranged attacks??? as soon as i see cancel come, i pump lionheart up, run through the sleeps, rush in and you're dead.... (this is just my experiences with nukers. which is high B grade/low A grade. not sure what skills come later and what i am missing out on.....but i will know one day i guess.
3-4k hp at 42 is alittle hard to go through, unless u nuke it, which is fixed at 44 with servitor magic sheild, and an extra 500-700 hp on servitor, as for me getting debuffed, still not easy, ppl miss sleep from time to time, and i plan on getting +4men +4 wit tats.
