subclassing question

Ok I know when you reach X level you can take the quest and get a subclass. You start the subclass at lvl 40 and proceed to gain xp in it.

the question . . . do you retain the skills you already have from your main class (passive or active)?

if not . . .

do you ever get the ability to use skills from your main and sub class(es) at the same time?
Nope to both. You essentially become a lvl 40 character that looks like your original but has the skills, hitpoints, etc of the new class. Your tatoos don't carry over so you need to get new tattoos for the new subclass.

You cannot access skills from yoru main class or vice versa.
sov is right
ok so no to keeping Main skills in the Sub . . .

I assume we retain SP?
I believe you need to earn skill points in your new class. So whatever skill points you have earned as your main do not carry over as you have to earn skill as your new class.
So, If you cant keep the skills from the first class then what is the point of taking a sub class? Just wondering. Also when you hit lvl cap with the second class, do you get the first set of skills back or are you just a human that has hydro splash?

Thanks to the op of this thread. I have been wondering about his myself and trying to see why it would be a good thing to change you class after you spent along time trying to get as high as you did before.
Think about it this way,

(and I'll give myself as an example)

When I reach 75 I will do all the quests etc for the subclass. I will be subbing destroyer which is an Orc Class. I will then go to the Orc Embassy in Aden and go to one of the Guildsmen who will then "train me" to be a Destroyer.

I will then look like my dark elf self (and all weapons and armor will scale to be what a dark elf would wear) but I will have the hitpoints and abilities of an Orc Destroyer at lvl 40. I will keep my pk count etc but not tattoos as those are to alter my spellhowler main.

I can play as a Destroyer until I want to play my spellhowler again. I then go into town and change back to Spellhowler (not sure if I do that in the orc embassy or Dark elf... I presume Dark Elf) and then I am my Spellhowler self.

I can go back and forth as many times as I like. Once the second class hits 75 I can do all the fun quests (and I'm sure they will be fun  ) to become noblesse. Once Noblesse I can then compete in the olympiad with my Main Class to become a Hero.

It is essentially like changing jobs in Final Fantasy.
SP do not transfer, you end up with 0 SP and all skills learned when you make asub. By the time you get to a new skillset you will have SP to learn all/most/big part of your's skills.
That's basically right. When you subclass you get all the skills up to 40 so needing SP isn't that big of a deal, you go out and exp and get SP for the next skill set.

Also when your subclass hits 75 you can get another subclass therefore having 3 classes. You can switch from your main to your subclass and vice versa whenever you want by talking to the head guy in that guild. The only thing that bugs me is I have to switch gear so often, A grade will be a blessing then I can clean out my warehouse.
Also, if you have a sineater, go turn it in before you sub. When you turn it in to the black judge, DO NOT TALK TO HER AGAIN. Take the manacles and put them in your wh. When you switch back and forth between your sub and your main, you lose the sineater quest. Putting the manacles in your wh, will save you the mats to remake them. You will still have to redo the 3 spiders.

As a DE sovrath, you will be limited to what classes you can sub. As a dwarf, you can do anything except WS or OL. Noone can do those two.
another question ... when you do subclass, can you go through the class change in the subclass?

I also noticed that they don't list any of the third class change profession on the list. Does this mean you if you went through the 2nd class change, you can't get a sub-class?
both your primary and subclass(es) can go through the the third job change. and if your primary class goes through the third job change, you can still subclass later.
Ohhh ok. I get it now. I was missed informed. I thought once you change to you sub class you lose all the work you did with you first class. This is cool. Thanks for straighting me out on this.
