Human Mystic.. where next?

Player Questions Started Last reply 15 posts
I have a level 19 human mystic and I'm needing some insight on how everyone feels about what path to take. First off, I don't want to go necro because I'm not a flavor of the month type.

The two options I'm leaning towards are:
Cleric -> Prophet
Wizard -> Sorcerer
I don't have a lot of time to find groups and really prefer to play solo. Main question for both paths is how well do they solo. I've seen some comments about the Cleric/Prophet are do able solo but takes time. Although, I haven't seen much info on the Wizard/Sorcerer path. Any and all insight will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Go sorc, soloing with proph is fun only till some lvl, and killing speed and other aspects is better for sorc definitely.
I hear Battle Prophets are quite fun. Get heavy armor for the prophet, descent to good weapon, a wofl and you'll supposedly go very well together. Especially since you have buffs.
i have both and it all depends on what u are in to
prophet is definetly a grind at higher lvls solo if u plan on going prophet go with the heavy armor because your offense spells will be useless on higher lvl mobs
sorc are more fun but there is still a good amount of a grind to them too solo
Battle Prophet is kind of what I was thinking about. And with the buffs if I do decide to group I'll be an asset.
as I said, battle proph is fun till some point, since lvl +- 60 the battle prophet will be harder and harder to get any decent xp/money/drops/quests etc...thanks to low patk or using wolf your expanses on killing will be very high and you will need to make money other way, you will stop soloing and joining groups will be the only way to lvl, and not always easy to find group with all the buffpets and overpowered WCs no VR etc...still I love my proph:)
If you intend to truly solo, don't go sorceror. Go necromancer.

Sorcerors do not get any upgrades to their body to mind skill after the second class change. So.. at higher levels, without SE backup, you end up getting 1% on your mp bar. Then, you either sit for 5-10 minutes and regen, or you stand and do body to mind and drink pots until you regen.

Prophets are fun to solo, but, like Nya said, slow. If you're looking to solo self-reliably, and somewhat quickly, go with Necromancer.

If you decide at later levels that you want to group, however, prophet is excellent.
Well, let's put it this way. As a high lvl (70+) sorcerer, you will still be two-shotting green mobs. And you can have an even easier time doing that by popping an acumen potion from the store, and maybe having a lvl 25 SO with empower 1 on a second account. But you do not need that. As a 70+ prophet on the other hand, you will self-buff with all those nice prophet buffs, and you STILL will take AGES to take down even one green or light blue single hit point mob. And, unlike the sorcerer, you cannot really increase your damage potential by having a buffer on a second account. There is absolutely no question which class is better for soloing, or which class is better at pvp (sieges). Sorcerer can effectively solo even at high levels, prophet belongs in a group for good exp/time.

Edit: yes, Necromancer or better Spellhowler is even better at soloing due to BTM. But Necromancer is expensive to level when it is the first character you have, due to the cost of cursed bones.
I am almost a high level sorceror (70+).

I have already come to the conclusion that, without Silver in tow, I'd have gone back to Silver for a main..... (70+ SE)
But highlvl sorc without SE will lvl much faster than highlvl proph solo. And much cheaper.
Presently as a level 35 Cleric right now and going future prophet they are an amazing fun character but they are very hard to level by themselves and you almost always depend on a raid or a group to help you get threw it and I am almost certain that when I get higher I will always depend on a group to help me get threw to the next level!

But highlvl sorc without SE will lvl much faster than highlvl proph solo. And much cheaper.

Yes, the OP simply asked which class was the better one for solo play, sorc or prophet. And sorc definitely is better at soloing than prophet, even if soloing without buffer/recharger admittedly means downtime. Sorc can kill mobs faster and cheaper (simply calculate sps and ss cost). Pointing out the alternative "necro" is of course valid, but I do not think necro is a good choice unless you reroll or subclass to one, because necro is expensive.
I just want to point out to the OP that if PvP is going to come into consideration at any point, think about whether you want to be killing your enemies or buffing your allies. If you don't plan on joining a clan, you'll have it tough. A prophet will have to run from pvp/PKrs. I play a bishop and the support classes have no way to really effectively protect themselves other than running/bsoeing.
Sorc, definitely. A battle prophet would be only be for those people willing to be highly, highly specialized for something the class isn't really made to do.
Yes.. Prophet is amazingly slow to solo.

SE is slower..
