This is my first post and I have been playing for a couple of weeks now. I have a dwarf that turned level 20 the other day.
And now I can finally make some shoulshot :)
Now to the question, How the h*** can I profit (sell em for 11a) when the cheapest gloves(d) cost ~28K and only give me 38 D-Crystals.
Its 742.5adena per crystal.
And I really cant understand how some ppl can sell Dcrystals at 6xx. Is there any other way to get hold of Dcrys? like spoil and such?
Or do I simply have to buy from (sorry) stupid ppl with weirdly cheap prices?
And btw, I read a guide somewhere that said to buy exellent gloves (cheapest d) for 25K in dion and just crystalize them.
But they cost 28.215 now
Can anyone explaine how ppl can sell for 11each and 55/56 for Dbsps sence they cost 11,24 and 58,xx each to craft using the metod I discribed....
sorry for beeing a n00b but I cant figure it out :( and I searched and didnt fint anything here nor on the rest of the internet :o
Prices are not the same in all towns. Sometimes Heine is cheapest, sometimes Gustin, sometimes some other town, all depending on the castle owners tax settings.
The life of a Warsmith is to know such prices and to know exactly what to buy to break it to crystals.
Also the ratio seems to be far better with weapons. Granted, you need to have 2 Millions to buy them, but you can produce 1700 Crystals that way, either to resell them, or to produce cheap SS.
You might wanna "craft" your crystals. For example, elven jewels are cheap to craft and yield a high amount of D-cry when you crush them so you might even get D-cry at the price of 580a or so with this method.
Best way to find out how to get cheap crystals is just to go to the Weapon/armor shops of Dion/Giran and look at the prices of each item and how much crystals they would produce. Some items produce cheaper crystals, some more expensive. Then you buy the cheap stuff and crush crush :) Or craft them for even cheaper prices and crush crush ;)
If you plan to make your crystals by crafting, make sure you start to craft items that have easily obtainable keymaterials.
Personally, I never bothered with DSS/DBSPS, I just manored to 40 and started doing something alot more profitable ;)
The guide you looked at is old. When I had my dwarves way back in the beginning of the game, there was no tax in Giran. Now there is and in some place it's quite high. That's why the price may vary, the castle owners can set a tax that is added to the sell price of everything in the shops.
Parts for D Weapons/jewelry/armor used to be much more plentiful and so people could easily craft them to either sell or crush. In the last few Chronicles they've made them more and more diffictult to get so it usually ends up not being that much cheaper (when you factor in time, etc.) than to just buy them. If you find cheap crystals for sale, then go for those and if you find a good source of D parts, you can then craft to crush as the poster above mentioned. It's just that no days it's not that easy or profitable.

Isnt that servers? But what you meen is that the gloves can change in price depending on witch clan is owner of the castle in that town that you are buying? right?
The life of a Warsmith is to know such prices and to know exactly what to buy to break it to crystals.
I get what you are saying here BUT do you meen, when I get up in level and become able to craft ***, that I have to buy and then break A-Armor in order to get A-crys  And dont you need Acrystals when crafting A-armor anyway? :p
I used to go to town, and watch for people shouting to sell. When you spot someone trying to sell something over and over for a while, you have to quickly look up the crystal value of the item. Then multiply it times the amount you want to pay for the crystals.. then pm the guy and offer him a price slightly lower than that. LOL
It will take some time and some work, and people will [censored] at you for low balling them on prices. It is worth it though, because you will be surprised at how often the people just go ok, and take your offer!!!
It's all about knowing what you are willing to pay for the crystals, knowing how many crystals an item makes, and making lots and lots of offers until you find the right people!!
In today's market alot of high level players don't really care about eeking out a few extra adena's for an item, they would prefer to just get rid of the thing, so take advantage of that!!
**Edit - you can also setup buy shops overnight or while you are at work. You'll be surprised at how often people will sell to you at your asking price just to get rid of some of their stock!
I meant Giran, when I typed Gustin. Heine is indeed a town name, namely the town of Innadril, south of Giran, where noone ever goes without a quest or a wish to buy something cheap.
Heine is a town, Gustin is a server. And yes, item prices in NPC shops depend on the current tax, set by the owner of the castle of that area.
A-crystals can be produced with Merchant of Mammon and atleast in C3 by some Castles so there are other ways to get them. I personally buy them from the market. Also, some A-grade equipment is pretty much rarely used so those are items that people crush. Tallum light, Dark Crystal heavy(useless to some, can get more money of crystals), some of the weapons etc. Also, failed OE attempts produce crystals that are introduced to the market ^^
If I remember right, Low A-grade crafts use B-crystals >.>

you can buy A crys but they arnt cheap
must high end SS is made from ppl who blow up their weapons
my method of making DSS was to buy cheap d grade gear in dion that ppl didnt want anymore
now that i think of it i would have made more just from buying from the shop and crushing
if you wanna make cash on dss you are never allowed to have full mp so buy what crystals you can when you can
that being said dss is probly the lamest way to make adena in the whole of lineage
you can literally make more per day just by playing a mage at those lvls

Hey Now Kitty.. I'll have you know lots of people come to Heine on Gustin.. we've got a great manor, it's a beautiful town, and the taxes are the lowest on the server.
I bet it's the water isn't it.. Cats hate water.. :(
Although I think you're getting the jist, just remember that players like to buy only the highest of their grade to equip there toons. Therefore, ANYTHING not highest D grade is fair game for a lowball. Their alternative is to sell it to the NPC shops for half what the shop sells them for (a bad price really), so you have a slight edge there.
However, nameless1 is also right. Making DSS isn't what it used to be. Weapons (the highest crystal count items) can now be traded up at the blacksmith of mammon, making them much less common than they once were.
But hell, it's the way I started. After you make some jack, you can start the buy/sell game in earnest.
A good tool to use in this I found is on l2 wh under tools is a crystal converter. Select crystal grade and list prices for it high medium and low. It will print out a list of a graded gear and how much you would pay for those items to get those crystal counts.

Right after Heine was founded, I was there for a while, but some stupid Elf pushed me into the water. I nearly drowned and needed a full hour to get my fur dry again !
Since then, I have been to Heine exactly three times for less than 10 minutes each and I do not plan any further visits to this Maphr-forsaken place.

To the OP...here's the math junior smith (though it varies by server/town as others have said).
This morning I bought elven ring in giran for a bit over 74k. It provided over 100 d-crystals at 661 adena per crystal.
I bought 350 soul ore in dwarven village last week at 243a each (was there for stupid Toma and WS quest anyway).
It takes one d-crystal (661a) plus three soul ore (total of 729)
to make 159 dss.
So, at today's lionna prices I produced dss for 8.7a each.
If u sell at 12 (tell everyone who complains that it's over 11a because of taxes--it's the dwarf mantra these days) u make 28% profit on each dss (or each batch or each gross).
1000a in sales will net you 280a or so. For every 10k you sell you'll net 2,800a...and so on.
It is not a road to riches--material gathering takes time--crafting takes time--selling takes time.
But one of your ?'s was "how can people sell at 11a?"
Now perhaps you know :)
PS. Going on raids for your level can net you an occaisional d-drop that is able to be crystalized and a great source (keep calculator by your computer) as someone posted is to take cheap low level d-equip from players hungry for quick adenda.
My apologies OP...Meate is correct..the soul ore in my exampe was purch at 287 (not 243)--don't know where that came from!
In this example...which is just an example...the numbers change to about 9.6a per dss....leaving you only about a 20% margin at 12a per dss instead of 28% as i wrote.
Please keep in mind OP--i was just trying to show you that dss is less than 11a TO CRAFT in most cases.
I don't normally buy elven jewels in giran to crystalize...but hadn't made dss for awhile and alternite knight toon needed a supply so I was desperate!!
The most 'controllable' value in the equation is cost of d-crystals. Getting a drop of a low d-gear piece of equipment or buying at less than shop prices from adenda starved players can drop your d-crystal cost per crystal significantly!!!
Regardless of values...u might make a couple hundred thousand adenda on a million dollars worth of dss.
Considering how long it will take u to get that vol. of soul ore and d-crystals, craft the dss, and sell the volume....I leave it to you to decide if it is worth the effort.
You can certainly make money crafting/selling DSS, but it takes a long time (slow dwarven mp regen ftw!) unless you can get a recharger. I would recommend getting a D crystal and setting up a buy shop at around 500-550 adena. You WILL be able to buy them at that price, but it sometimes takes a day or two before you get a seller.
