Why a mob can hit you (with a fire ball i.e) through a wall and if i have a tree or something else between the mob and me the game chat says "Cannot see the target"?.
because developers suck and a lot of checks are performed client side (amazingly flawed design).
there are more blantant cases but..
You might also wanna ask why mobs can hit moving targets but players cant. "Target too far" is the biggest bug in this game >.<
i wouldnt say this is an official answer but i am sure exploiting ideas came to mind when the developers made it this way. not sure how....but i am positive somebody could think of a way :p

Not true. I (and my hunting partner) used to "hide" from casting mobs all the time. It's merely a matter of timing.
Ok, try to hide from a Shadow in a catacomb....you will see how your hp decrease with every fireball hits you ACROSS the walls!!. I wonder how you and your friend can hide from a mob that has started to cast. In fact if you run from the mob.. it doesn't matter you will be affected by spell.
Ah, sorry, but I speak about things i have suffered, i don't invent anything, and I play at Teon (official server).
Regards.

Once it starts to cast, you can't hide. The spell will hit you through obstacles. This is not true for the player. You can lose target if the mob is obscured during a cast. But the mob must see you start the its cast. Until then, you can hide.

Then I guess I hallucinated all of the damage I didn't take in the lair. Whatever.

Some obstacles it works, some it doesn't. It's not a 100% thing, silly.
so you can not use LoS(Line of Sight) tactics to pull mobs in this game? Which further means you can not LoS kite? :(
I use LOS stuff in catas all the ttime to escape caster mobs.

I was quoting someone that said it doesn't work at all, silly.
You can hide from all caster mobs. Or at least i can. In witch's if a shadow casts on me, ill step to the side and hide behind the corner of a pillar, the shadow just stands there and does nothing, if i show myself again, he resumes his agressive state.
