I am currently a level 10 and I know when I hit level 20 I can get some summon skills. I was wondering if when I summon my sillhouette if I have to tell it to attack like the baby pets or if I have commands or will it attack on it's own once it see's I'm being attacked? How does that work?

Aye,
Servitor is a controlible pet that is an extention of urself. Once you summoned ur servitor u can double click on it and open up a menu full of hot keys that u can drag to ur hot bar. These hot keys are no different than ones for ur main toon. Target the enemy and hold control and tell the servitor to attack or use an offencive skill against that enemy.
Probably already noticed if ur servitor goes purple, so do u. Same with chaotic state. Also in C4, if your servitor is attacked or attacking, the master will go into attack mode. Hence u cant send a summon to fight then log off once it has died, have to wait till combat mode ends.
L2Pets.com (http://www.l2pets.com/forums) is a great website dedicated to pet and servitor users. Lot info can be found with a single search, and if that doesnt help. Just post like u did here.
I'm not wondering about summon pets I'm just looking for information on a summon creature the skill you get when you become a level 20 dark wizard and you can summon something to help you fight! I went to the web site and all I could find was stuff on pets and summon pets?

Servitors are summons my noob friend. If you are becoming a dark wizard, ur servitors are Shadow and Sillhouette. Once you become a full Phantom Summoner, u get access to Soulless servitor.
Pets such as wolves, hatchlings, stryders, and wyverns are a totally different pet system. Which my post wasnt refering to.
Noob is a derogatory term to describe someone who should know something but doesn't.
Newb describes someone that is new to the game and is not expected to know whatever it is you are discussing.
It is like the difference between "ignorant" and "stupid".
You should've used "newb", you noob.
Well I didn't know that! :o
As far as the servitor...
Look, unless you are going to go Summoner at lvl 40 or want something cool to show your friends or new players (aka Newbes ;) ) you really won't use it alot.
The only time I ever brought the summon out was when my clan and I decided to do a Cruma evening. I brought it out, lots of ooohs and ahhhhs (joke there somewhere) and the summon proceeded to hit the mobs I told it to until time was up and I had to wait however many hours to be able to use it again. The damage it did was "ok" but I don't really think it made a huge difference.
So, if you think you might want to be a summoner then sure, try it out. But the summons really don't take on the majesty and effectiveness they are capable of until one actually becomes a Summoner of some sort.
Just my 2 cents.
Though (here is an extra penny) if you are going spellsinger (light elf mage) then it couldn't hurt to get the unicorn that recharges your mana as it might help a little bit while leveling.
Well it depends if the player wants give the servitor a fair trial before making the choice of SH/PS.
I am currently switching to PS myself, and I mainly enjoy leveling during time I can use Shadow. In terms of effectiveness, lvl 30 skillset for him is where Shadow accually steals aggro from me. Also u have to realize that shadow servitor is more of a challenge than Kat/Boxer due to lack of mp recharge skill.
I picked up and enjoy the shadow's style fairly easily, but I was recently a warlock. I like Shadow more mainly due to his passive Vampiric rage which leeches hp from the enemy. Hence less time wasted healing the servitor. My warlock was annoying cause felt like every few seconds I have to heal again. My wizard now accually can spam more skills or straight up attacking instead of healing every 2-3 hits.

That's exactly what I'm saying. If you want to try it out it is a nice way to see what it feels like.
But if you think you will be the Mage of Destructioin, wielding the power of the Air Element in one hand and sending your Minions of darkness to ravage your foes... well.. that's just not going to happen. :D

In later levels, you'll probably notice that small-scale battles (1-3 foes) favor the Shadow over Kat, since passive VR can eventually make up the HP lost, but larger-scale battles (3+ foes) favor Kat, as passive VR won't be enough and you won't have an after-battle MP boost like Kat can give you.
In normal farming, I wouldn't say either works better, but PS is easier in small-scale and Warlock is more MP effecient in large-scale. Do with that as you will :)
Oh, and one more thing, just to be confusingly accurate...
Servitors are summons my noob friend.
The term "servitor" covers both pets and summons, which is why "servitor X" spells can affect both types of creatures. Even though your command is to "summon" both types of servitors (pet and 'summon'), the term "summon" does not apply to pets as a noun, only as a verb.
Or, to put it another way...
Summons are servitors, but servitors aren't all summons, my summoner friend.
But if you think you will be the Mage of Destructioin, wielding the power of the Air Element in one hand and sending your Minions of darkness to ravage your foes... well.. that's just not going to happen. :D
One of these days I'll dust off my poor abused PS, change all his tats and gear, and make a fool of myself trying to prove you wrong.

Well, I'm sure you still have the nuke. I suppose what I was saying is that any spellhowler worth his salt is not going to be taking out that sub 40 summons and sending it into battle. At least none that I know of Including yours truly.
Now I do understand that some summoners nuker as well as use the summon. I just wonder how effective that nuke is. Especially in the higher lvls. I'm sure if Maline was still around she would say it was but how much damage are we talking about.
I look at the summoners as sort of "Elric" like characters who call open the gates of hell (or wherever) and then send their unholy (holy) minions into battle as they fight besides them.
I just wonder how effective that nuke is. Especially in the higher lvls.
Not very, especially for a PS...thus my last sentence. It's going to be a waste of time and adena, but one of these days I'm going to break down and do it anyway. At least it's just a game :)
So basically if I want to be strong and if I want to stand up to all those "reds" out there that like to run around and pk lower levels my best bet is to aim for a SH and when I get those "summon" skills at level 20 maybe get them if I have the extra SP and try it out for the fun of it right? But now I'm looking more towards becoming a SH. I just saw someone with a "silhouette" and I thought it looked cool heh oh well thank again guys :) being the "newb" not "noob" that I am I had to ask and wonder before I went ahead and possibly made the wrong decision! :)

If thats ur goal, then either class will work. My 58 Warlock makes easy work of Dylon, Sian, and others who been pking noobs. SH probably 1 shot them, while my Mew runs them down and beats the crap out of them. My favorite hunting tactic is when I aggro a guard and send Mew to follow the red. If Mew doesnt finish them, guard will. =)
In dion some of the reds take advantage of the church area to be in a safe zone. If I seen them killing noobs I take the guards and drop them on them. Where as other classes have to wait till red is out of the safe zone to kill them.
They are a pain during the lower lvls. As you move beyond 40+, they are no more than annoyances that u can have fun hunting when bored of grinding. Hard part is catching them off guard before they log out.
btw, noob/newb/noobie/newbie its all slang for new player/or ignorant player. Who cares how its spelled as long u know what it means. N0oB135!
So your saying a summon could actually be decent for PVP? Or not a chance I know SH are good and the battle between them and Necro's is interesting depending on who get's what spell to hit and land!
Summons are odd in PVP. We excell at soft targets so in mass PVP i actually kill healers and nukers like mad. The best weapon you have however is ignorance. Few people actually know anything about summoners making them fall for a few simple tricks. Stuff like sleeping summon and then hitting me, attcking me and ignoring pet, and my favorite must be running away, that one never works especially against warlocks.
The downside, especially to PS is that you are mostly melee, yeah you have good mdef but you still have to get to the mage. On the other hand your pets are fast and if they get there the mage will likely die. If all else fails hide behind a rock and send out wave after wave of silhouette, it's a lame tactic but it works well.
lol thats cool so a summoner might actually be able to pvp but probably a SH is better at it! Thanks for the help I hope I have no problem with my Wizard she's currently a level 20 now but I'm worried if I mae the wrong choice at level 40 my summon will be attacked and killed easily just like my Healer gets right now!

Aye,
1v1 with melee there is a good chance Summoner is winning, with the exception of archers. Mages yeah their sleep/nuke/silence tactics can make easy work of the summon.
In mass pvp I found that I can accually be useful thou. Either using my Party summon or staying behind the main line and sending Mew in to nuke the enemy. If mew dies I just resummon where i can find safety. PS's pvp summon has a range skill and can be amplified with acumen, empower and Zerk. Higher in lvls u go the more effect the skill will have.
So Mew is the cat right? Is he a summon char we can buy or you get him depending on what class?
hehe sorry for the confusion. I was formally a warlock, which is a cat summoner. Few differences between the demons and cats servitor, but many simpularities. Im taking my experiences as a warlock and saying u could do the same with a PS. Not completely but just where they are simular.
