Why is the cost of Items bought from NPC shops different on different servers?

At a guess, tax rates set by the castle lords.

To make a true comparison you would need to compare shops in Elmore (Orc and Dward Villages) as these are not affected by castle tax rates.

Aye, tax rates set by castle lords cause the difference in prices between towns and also between servers.

yes you were quite right.
its possible to check what that lord is taxing at the NPC shop.
I was about to play a char on devianne server but was so shocked to see the price at the NPC shops I decided against it. I think 25% is just a little bit cheeky :o
