Hunters from across the land are eager to find and catch a magical rabbit, hoping that they will be blessed with skill and luck throughout the year.
From April 14 20, 2006, keep your eyes peeled for these mysterious rabbits, and may you have a bountiful season!
Long ago, the giants ruled over the many beings of the world. In their arrogance, the giants tried to outdo the gods by modifying existing races in hopes of creating new life. Although they paid for their conceit at Einhasads hands, many of these wondrous creatures survived to the current day.
With the coming of a new spring, one of these strange animals is always seen throughout the kingdoms of Aden and Elmore, and has become a symbol of the new season. They can appear anywhere and are often found in the most unusual of places. Although they seem to be simple White Rabbits, this unique breed is exceptionally strong and agile, and hunting them is known to bestow exceptional prowess and insight upon the hunter.
Hunters from all across the land prepare in anticipation, eager to find and catch one of these magical rabbits in hopes that they will be blessed with skill and luck throughout the year. Since the days of the Elmoreden Empire, nobles have declared this a time of celebration. A new year has come, and the Rites of Spring (http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2006/04/the_rites_of_sp_1.html) are beginning again!
Tim: There he is!
King Arthur: Where?
Tim: There!
King Arthur: What? Behind the rabbit?
Tim: It *is* the rabbit!
King Arthur: You silly sod!
Tim: What?
King Arthur: You got us all worked up!
Tim: Well, that's no ordinary rabbit.
King Arthur: Ohh.
Tim: That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
Sir Robin: You ***! I soiled my armor I was so scared!
Tim: Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!
Sir Galahad: Get stuffed!
Tim: He'll do you up a treat, mate.
Sir Galahad: Oh, yeah?
Sir Robin: You mangy Scots git!
Tim: I'm warning you!
Sir Robin: What's he do? Nibble your bum?
Tim: He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about. Look at the bones!
King Arthur: Go on, Bors. Chop his head off!
Sir Bors: Right! Silly little bleeder. One rabbit stew comin' right up!
It is real. But.... Well... This was not one of the most popular events last year. If you find a bunny-ringed chest, you get a bonanza, but most folks will find... nothing...
The bunnies will appear dark red to most folks, but they die easily, giving very high xp. The chests are tough, and may kill you, but they give a TON of stuff, and are worth risking death to kill.
Still, any event is better than no event. Thanks Mistryl!

Any more details we can have?, are they still able to spawn absolutly anywhere, how often do they spawn etc etc? Drop list? Or is it a case of wait and see.
u dont wanna know how many places i looked last year for 3 days.. ( i have silent walk too)... i think it had to do with the fact that when i got home from work all of the bunnies were dead.. is this year going to be random constant spawning?
It will most likely be another Non-event just like last year, where only one or two people per server found them. But hey, go ahead and waste your precious xp time running all over creation.
If the bunnies give insane amounts of XP, can they PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE give insane amounts of SP too? You know, to BALANCE the rapid level-up? I found lots of bunnies last year and got 4-5 levels off of them, then came to realize that I was almost 250,000 SP short for skills because of it.
Will they spawn all in a row for me to kill with an AOE? That would be awesome, kk thanks :) I'd like them to do my second job class change quests for me too. ^ ^

I actually had the same problem, I ended up starting at lvl 19 and ended up at I think 23 or 24 so I went over my class change skills and I pretty much was behind on skills for a long time.
i had trouble finding any last year, i hope to find some this year. I thought this was one of the most popular events of last year, everyone that found them was more than happy with what they got. I personally am happy with the way NCsoft has kept the events constant, gg on that. I cant wait for rabbit season! :P
Thanks for the event - my only hope is - that they do a complete bot wipe the day before... Ok - guess I'll go back to reality for the moment - work....

j/k for those who don't get it
I can see it now. They mix the rabbit and invasion events. Giant killer rabbits come marauding into town to wreck devastation. Well. It would be hilarious.
If your going to do it, you got to go all the way!!
GALAHAD: They're nervous, sire.
ARTHUR: Then we'd best leave them here and carry on on foot. Dis-mount!
TIM: Behold the cave of Caerbannog!
ARTHUR: Right! Keep me covered.
GALAHAD: What with?
ARTHUR: W-- just keep me covered.
TIM: Too late!

BORS:Right! Silly little bleeder. One rabbit stew comin' right up!
TIM: Look!
BORS: Aaaugh!
ARTHUR: Jesus Christ!
TIM: I warned you!
ROBIN: I done it again!
TIM: I warned you, but did you listen to me? Oh, no, you knew it all, didn't you? Oh, it's just a harmless little bunny, isn't it? Well, it's always the same. I always tell them--
ARTHUR: Oh, shut up!
TIM: Do they listen to me?
ARTHUR: Right!
TIM: Oh, no...
KNIGHTS: Charge!
KNIGHTS: Aaaaugh!, Aaaugh!, etc.
ARTHUR: Run away! Run away!
KNIGHTS: Run away! Run away!...
TIM: Ha ha ha ha! Ha haw haw! Ha! Ha ha!
ARTHUR: Right. How many did we lose?
LAUNCELOT: Gawain.
GALAHAD: Ector.
ARTHUR: And Bors. That's five.
GALAHAD: Three, sir.
ARTHUR: Three. Three. And we'd better not risk another frontal assault. That rabbit's dynamite.
ROBIN: Would it help to confuse it if we run away more?
ARTHUR: Oh, shut up and go and change your armour.
GALAHAD: Let us taunt it! It may become so cross that it will make a mistake.
ARTHUR: Like what?
GALAHAD: Well... ooh.
LAUNCELOT: Have we got bows?
ARTHUR: No.
LAUNCELOT: We have the Holy Hand Grenade.
ARTHUR: Yes, of course! The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch! 'Tis one of the sacred relics Brother Maynard carries with him. Brother Maynard! Bring up the Holy Hand Grenade!
MONKS: Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem, Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem, Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem, Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem.
ARTHUR: How does it, um-- how does it work?
LAUNCELOT: I know not, my liege.
ARTHUR: Consult the Book of Armaments!
BROTHER MAYNARD: Armaments, chapter two, verses nine to twenty-one.
SECOND BROTHER: And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, 'O Lord, bless this Thy hand grenade that, with it, Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits in Thy mercy.'
And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals and fruit bats and large chu--
MAYNARD: Skip a bit, Brother.
SECOND BROTHER: And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'
MAYNARD: Amen.
KNIGHTS: Amen.
ARTHUR: Right! One!... Two!... Five!
GALAHAD: Three, sir!
ARTHUR: Three!
**** no chests... oh well. For the people wondering the bunnies are really weak, they hit for 0 damage.
Last year I went up 14% at level 49 in a group of 9 so it gives you some idea how much xp they're worth but I looked for 2 days and didn't find anything until I was xping in GOE lol and I saw them through one of the blue doors and I was stressing so hard waiting for that thing to open thinking someone else was gona come past and kill them b4 we could get through... but it didn't happen, phew
I prefer the "lesser rewards that are easier to find" events myself, probably won't be participating in this one. It should be pretty exciting for the crowd it's aimed at though. :)
The number of bunnies spawning for the upcoming Rites of Spring should be much more than last year. As for drops you can look forward to a little bump up in SP. Good luck to all in finding them, they like to hide all over the world!

I do hope item drops are still good. I was one of the very disapointd people last year.

So this event is going to be about as great as the Letter thing...BAH...just stay in toi.....
It's correct technically but those who are in the GMT timezone are also +1 hour so in reality there is still a 6hour difference between what the time is in England and what the time is in Central America.
Anyone pin down the exact time or if they're already up? I'm going to be very ****** if I find out I've been running around looking for non-existent bunnies.
Found 1....in a duo at level 69 it was white and gave me 93k exp, 1 sp and dropped 2 medium sp scrolls. Nice for something to fall across I guess but I but wouldn't bother going hunting em.
They seem pretty scarce so would probably gain more xp and sp in normal hunting.
wow.. a boost to SP? LMAO thats a pathetic lie :P 2 medium SP scrolls worth of sp?.... thats 5 regular mobs worth of exp lol and 180k xp? yay 15 mobs worth fo xp, awesome... i was kinda excited to find some bunnies but no i dont care at all :|
Yeah they are still called rabbit. They are kinda elpy size white rabbits and do not appear to be agro. Oh and it died in 1 normal hit....seem to have very low def.
Yeah ben scouting true some areas some places at walley of saints and then beast farm nothing ofcorse, thoght reading that they give 90k xp and 10k sp using up the scrolls I don't even see a purpose of huntng them at all.

i also found one outside of giran and the 180k xp and 10k sp from 2 medium sp scrolls would i call 'a bump up in SP' .... :(
(*hint* xp-sp ratio at higher lvl is something like 1:10 *hint*)
Unfortunantly I spend the last 3 hrs running around with my aliance. At one time we had 9 people in our group and only ran into 7 solo rabbits. Ranging red white pink green blue to various levels. One of the rabbits was killed by a high lvl it was blue to that player and got nothing 0xp and 0 drops so be carefull on killing the critters.
Unfortuantly I would say that activily going threwout the world looking for the bunnys is a waste of time. Like a previous poster had said its okay if you happen appon one were your hunting, but its not worth the effort of looking for them. :(
At least wanted adventure I dont care much for the rewards, and still the adventure got staile because we hardly ran into them.
Looked all over the map for hours, didn't find a single rabbit anywhere and in this timeframe I could have had more fun, better XP and more SP than even several of these bunnies give.
Last time there were bunnies, it was pretty fun, we hunted in groups and they gave great rewards that was worth it...this time, not so :(
Its like all the events of last year are returning in nerfed form. I am still very happy they do them and they have improved tremendously on the communication and presentation front, but the events themselves are nerfed, when in fact they should have been increased because people are now higher level.
Nonono, 178,000 exp is about 25 mobs to aplayer earning 7000 experience per mob. For some classes, thats bout 10 minutes worth of killing, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. But do the math, and you can find that the earnings from grinding will far outweight the earnings from rabbit hunting, unless you are a low level player hunting high level rabbits, then you are better off hunting rabbits provided you don't need the adena you would have earned from normal grinding.
yessssss....I'm finally getting some recognition around here. Time to start giving my friends the Heisman.
In terms of the event, thumbs up. I logged in my alt, searched three minutes, found a rabbit, one-shotted him (archer), got 132k and two-thirds of one level in one kill.

First thing I want to say is this event beats last years hands down. I found 2 Rabbits so far this year and none last year.
Second thing is I'm dispointed. No items drops exept SP scrolls. I don't think thats cool after you gave so much to so few last year, and most events.

I feel as this player does. I found a rabbit :) but it was an anti-climax.
OK so we all can agree that its super rare to find a bunny and when you get it its hardly note worthy.
Problem is NCsoft makes an event where its easy to find the mobs they drops LOADS of stuff!!! OMG were all excited..no there is 18 pages whinning about how NCSoft is flooding the market.
NCSoft is in a lose/lose situation with the events, someone is always going to complain.
Me i prefer the over kill saturation of the market events like when they spawned mobs out side of towns that was SOOO much fun regardless of drops. If they can do something semi-schedualed like that and mabye nerf drops a bit and up xp a lil it would be even funner.
I would say that NC soft is subject to complaints either way.
But honestly if you look at the math for this event. There is no reason to go out and hunt them.
lets say 140k exp per bunny
I can easily get 7k a mob at my level. Thats 20 mobs a buff round, 1 mob a minute. Thats nothing, and its a sure thing. And I get normal drops on top of that.
If I go out and hunt rabbits, theres a good chance I could spend 3 or 4 hours without finding a rabbit. A rabbit every 20 minutes LOL, GL with that.
I dont want a boat load of exp, I dont want a boat load of drops. I just dont want to have to spend 6 hours running around the map to even know that there is an event going on. Dropping the exp, and spawning more bunnies would be great. Even though I did the math above. hunting bunnies doesn't NEED to be better than exping. It could just be an amussing alternative. But facing the possibility of not seeing a bunny after hours and hours of searching isnt fun.
If we could all go out and catch a handful of bunnies, the event would be great. We would all feel we particpated, and like I said exp doesnt have to be great. Maybe we decide to go back to normal exping afterward, but atleast we had a bit of fun. And felt we were part of an event.
Well, after 12 hours of Hunting wabbits, i have found 3.... Now we all know that 3, is not enough for a good wabbit stew. So i fed mine to my Wolf, who has gained 4 .8 lvls.
I was really looking foward to this event however, after spending some time with it, I've noticed a few things.
1) Last year there were groups of rabbits and a chest in the middle.
2) The exp is the same as last year, we arn't level 40-50 anymore we are mostly 75+. 2 million xp would be more realistic.
3) Given the above 2 points, this years version is not worth actively hunting them.
Why ruin a perfectly good event?
Nc also made it that this year, if you let your hatchling/strider/wolf kill the rabbit, neither you or the pet gets experiance.
Last year you could level your pets on them, this year they dont get any. Why the change nc? It's almost as if you went out of your way to make this event FAIL on PURPOSE.
Another thing, rabbits are spawnning in the wrong places. What I mean is level 20 rabbits are spawning in places like SWAMP OF SCREAMS so if you do find one, you get nothing AGAIN

my wolf killed 3 rabbits and went from low 33 to low 34 so it got a nice chunk of xp per rabbit. but last year's was definately better.
At lvl 66 I can hunt Canyon Antelopes at the Wall of Argos with my Dark Panther, killing one aprx every 15 sec + 5 sec travel time to the next mob. I gain about 12K exp per kill this way.
178K exp per Rabbit. To balance out I need to kill 15 Canyon Antelope. Therefore I need to grind for only 5 mins to equal one Rabbit.
So please tell me why I should waste 2-5 hours trying to find even 1 Rabbit, and still haven't been able to?
I'm beginning to believe more and more that those suckers are hand placed by the GM's. No way on earth those suckers are just spawning random. :)
I dont know I have found them running through the same area different times of the day. Of course they were not in the same spot but they were in same general area. Plus I checked for GM just to see if the may be monitoring the event but non online anyway.
1-40 Low level.
40-60 Moderate level.
60-78 High level.
Low levels are basically those who haven't settled on their final profession yet. Moderate levels are those who are building their final profession, but all their skills are not matured yet. High levels have all (most) of their skills and are the valuable people to have for seiges etc.
Splits the level spectrum roughly evenly and I think they are good places to "draw the line", although any such definitions will by their nature be arbitrary.
Oh and as for the topic - I looked for 4 hours, found no rabbits, and figured it was a waste of time considering they only give xp/sp anyway.
I think most of the Rabbits are spawning underground.....
Found and killed one Friday in the Sea of Spores, then Saturday, I found one in Cruma Marsh, but it was underground..
And Yesterday, I found two in Hunters Valley, both were underground and another in Forest of Mirrors that was underground....
Now, I know where all the loot drops are going....underground.... :)
I think the event is only giving XP and SP so that farmers won't want to participate. Leveling is the opposite most want to do. I'm not sure if they are killing rabbits but there aren't many around. For this to be a true event you should be able to find a nice clutch of rabbits and get a lot of xp and SP. Maybe even a few levels over the course of the event.
I found two the first day and none since. Bolth were in less then ten minutes, so I thought they would be common.
Well after 4 days of trying (not continuous btw) I finally bagged 2 rabbits. One for me and one for the wolf. Got 4 sp scrolls and saving those for a twink.
has anyone confirm that the rabbit are around the right lvl of the area they spawn? Not like finding an lvl 60+ rabbit in newbie town area and get a 9 people party lvl 10-16 wiped out by the rabbit or an lvl 20 rabbit in ruin castle area that are deep blue and get 0 xp and 0 drop?. And last hope the rabbit does not spawn in the ocean, who would swim around 3 hours fighting shark and sea gull to find a rabbit, Kiss of Eva 2 and oxygen tank FTW:)
I'm beginning to believe more and more that those suckers are hand placed by the GM's. No way on earth those suckers are just spawning random. :)
Got my second bunny. After seeing where this one was sitting, I'm inclined to agree with you, Splatter.
Probably true. And they don't always do it correctly. Tonight, I found a rabbit using /target but upon going to the spot indicated on the radar, no bunny to be seen. The rabbit was there, but was invisible. Hitting an attack key would not intiate an attack, but would make my toon follow the rabbit as it moved around. I restarted, but it remained invisible. I called over a clanmate, but he could not see it either. His attacks just resulted in him follow the hopping critter as well. It was not in a tree, as the bow attack and the magic attack would hit tree-borne mobs.
I dont really understand why the rabbits have to be so rare.
Its not that 180k XP and 2 medium SP scrolls is such a great reward after all. And even if u consider it a great reward,I would prefer a 10-fold increase in bunny-spawns , with each bunny giving 18k XP
Someone beat me to the "underground" rabbit suggestion...
So, I named that rabbit 'Harvey' and we moved on.
"Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. And you may quote me."
LC666:
Sometimes it seems bugged up and it will target bunnies that aren't there, I've even had the /target rabbit target a player instead...very weird.
Found one bunny, purely by accident on Alligator Island, Im level 46. I stopped looking for them after day one of zip, nada, zilch. TBH, it wasnt worth it for what I got. But its an event, I like events........lol.....nice sometimes to get away from the grind.
Yeah, but last year there were 8 or so rabbits per chest. So just finding 1 chest would give more rabbits than most people have found so far.
And last year it was thought of as bad and not enough rewards, and thats DESPITE the rewards being much higher and people being of lower level and having more need for it.
So sadly I must say that the last 3 events NCSoft has dropped the ball on. They are doing magnificently well on all the other fronts event side though, which is great.
The event feedback in this thread and other threads has been useful, and we thank everyone for posting their opinions. We hope that you get some enjoyment of these remaining days for the Rites of Spring!
Thank you for a reply Mistryl. Always wonder when these thread get read. On the other hand must get old reading about all the complaints. Just please keep the events coming.
yeah mistryl, its good hearing from you. And I know it must be hard getting nothing but complaints no matter what you do. I know you and the NCstaff are doing your best.
I'd take most of what was said with a grain of salt, but try to see that there were some valid posts made (probably not mine :/)
Hi all,
had a look for bunnies yesterday.. found 3 in about 45minutes.. One was on Talking Island, inside the "stonehenge" rocks, near the school of magic. Another near the Elven Village, and the third near Giran Harbor.. but this last one I couldnt (see) kill although i could target it no problem.
Hope this helps :)
N

seconded
this event was pointless to me and many like me but some noobs had a good time so it shows it wasnt a complete wash out
either way keep the events coming
and we'll keep the complaints coming
It may be pointless for you, but for a lvl 20 or less or more to find a rabbit giving him or her 200k+ exp was great. Its about time they have an event for lower lvl characters. High lvls get enough stuff already. And besides low lvls didnt have the option of looking all over the land for rabbits like high lvls did. I didnt find a single one because I didnt bother looking but I seen a lot of shouts of people low lvl happy when they insant lvled from killing one. It was a good event all in all.
You shouldn't be finding those high end rabbits in the low level areas.
I don't know if I'd call this a "lowbie event", last year I heard more happy cries from lowbies finding chest and bunnies (which alot of them did) and they gave no-grade jewelry, great XP and lots of shots.
For a few fortunate who are just the right level and at the right place, this event could be fun, otherwise for the most part, it isn't.
Well on Devianne people are still hunting the bunnies. First 2 days I found 6, Haven't found any since. of course I haven't looked as hard as before but I usually take a strole around a few areas after grinding each night. The good thing about this event is I know whare all the Raid bosses below lvl 45 are now LOL. Above that I haven't seen a single one.
cruseing thought EG late last night i have a /target macro and i target one dark blue to my lvl 60 and so i see its in HC so i get my lvl 30 nuker char going to bring sin eater out b4 i kill it you see to wash my pks away and i targed it with my nuker that was lvl 30 and it was dark blue.... i was sad  and confuzed :( and mad  bc sin eater diddnet lvl up :<
