(Yet another) New Player / Acouple Questions

I've dabbled in Lin2 a while ago, didn't get far because i didn't have enough time, due to personal reasons, but i want to give it another go now, since i have talked my friend into trying it with me.

My concern is what class to go, and i want to make the right decision first so i can take advantage of the newbie buffs here on Lionna :).

My friend is going a Human Fighter (eventually Gladiator) and i would kind of like to pick something that could duo well with him, so we can level up together and make the grind *alittle* more fun.

I was thinking i could make a Human Mystic who would go cleric -> prophet, but have Prophets just become a novelty for Buff Botting now? Are prophets even played by real people anymore? My instinct is telling me to go Bladedancer, but that wouldn't be the best duo with him right?

What duo's well with a Human Fighter going Gladiator, but also can solo *pretty* well itself? If he isn't on, i'd like to be able to solo grind if i can, and i'm thinking a human cleric / prophet wouldn't be able to do that.

Also, what is Lionna in need of? Any class that sticks out as a rare class here? I'm kind of stuck in a struggle between picking what i think sounds cool and between what gets groups, what would duo well with my friend, and what can hold it's own in PVP. Can you all help me out?

Thanks ahead, and i look forward to playing here and taking part in some RP :D
personally I think you should just play what you like and not worry about creating a team or what eventual profession you will change to.

The only real issue you have is that if you want to play with your friend from the beginning, you both have to choose the same race.

Well, walking to him, or having him come to me would be no real problem really.

I'm more concerned about what would level up with him the fastest, so that we get the most xp we can.
Walking to him will actually be quite painful as a new character if he's starting a human toon...Talking Island isn't particularly cheap to get to and from as a new player...Dark Elves and Light Elves having the easiest time getting to one another...

That said a human mystic is a great duo for him. Remember that until 20 you're just as much a nuker as a healer though.

AND higher lvl (45+) a prophet will have a tough time keeping up with healing. Haste is awesome for Gladiators, but if you decide to work your way down to Talking Island you might be better off choosing a Dark Elf Mystic and going Shillen Elder. Most of the key buffs are the same with the exception of Vampire Rage vs. Haste.

As a supporting character you'll find VR is a lot easier to work with =)
Well, if your eventual goal is to join a clan together, being a Bishop, Elven Elder, or Warcrier will help you reach that goal. Many clans dont really need more prophets or SEs(most of these are boxed toons these days). You will find that Warcrier will make a good class to fight alongside him with, because they can buff AND fight very well. Thier heals are not the best, but if you fight smart, and share the tanking duties, it will work out pretty well.

Hmm warcrier, i never really thought of that, but they sound interesting after reading their skills. But i don't really care for how orcs look :/
They may not look the best, but of the buffer/healer type classes, I like them for both small and large groups, because they can fight right along side you. Most prophets will buff, and sit for 20 minutes till its bufftime again, same for SEs.

DOnt you tell me that this (http://img436.imageshack.us/img436/7551/shot000032cw.jpg) is ugly.

Haha no, i think the females look pretty kick ***. But i always play males, and the male orc casters are too scantily clad for my taste. It's like they are wearing rags.

I'm a fan of huge, shiny armor :)

I've been doing some research and i'm leaning towards SwS or BD. Which are better at PVE/grinding?
if hes going to go gladiator for sure

be some kind of buffer.
prophet= boring and low DD

so maybe Warcryer, bladedancer, swordsinger

if i had to pick from those 3 I'd pick BD

keep in mind though, youll need to find more people to play with eventually since that duo wont bring you very far

if you arent worried about buffs then just go melee
dagger, any orc w/e
I made my guy :)

Anakinsella - Dark Elf Fighter who will be going either BD, SK, or PR :) I gave myself options. I'm gonna level up with a composite bow my friend who used to play gave me, also a nice bronze set he said was the best for my lvl. I'm gonna see how i like bow using and decide on assasin or palus knight at lvl 20 class change.

Feel free to send me a whisper, as i'm lonely on this server and looking to meet new people :)
Sounds good! I must say that except for the low population, I really like the DE starting areas... very atmospheric.

crazy. i couldnt find a mob when i started there lol
but obviously that was in prelude
i remeber my first day in l2 when i was in the dark elf world and i killed a LE that was there with me cause i thought dark elves could kill light elves in this game without going red.

my friend laughed his *** off at me
lol that's classic
Well, first off: welcome to L2 and to Lionna, Anakinsella!

I think others here know way more than me about your questions, since I play melees (Palus Knight and Elven Scout).

However, always nice to see another player (who can post well, to boot!) joining Lionna.

Swords high!
haha changed my mind :)

I went back to my Human Mystic, it's better off anywho because i get the newbie buffs with him. Got him to lvl 15. Name is Kinsella, feel free to send me a tell, i'm lonely.
Good luck on the mystic. They're not easy at the lower levels.

On that note, though, I do have a low-level mystic human myself, as well as a few low-20's alts, so if you're hurting for company give me a PM through the boards here and we can set something up.
