Returning Chronicle 1 player (some questions)

Hey Lionna,

I played during chron 1 right after release back in 2004 for a few months. Time schedule and the release of other games led me to stop playing L2. My main was a lvl 51 Shillien Elder named Coerce. I just reactivated my account and have a few questions if anyone could be so kind.

1. I keep reading everywhere that my class, SE, is mainly a boxed character for oop buffing. Does anyone actually play this class anymore as thier real main character? I really enjoyed the class to lvl 51 which i am now, and would like to start back where i left off. He should be in full divine, with dual stormbringers (havent logged in since 2004, so im keeping my fingers crossed). Since its such a huge grind to max lvl, is actually playing an SE worth it in the long run? or are they only good for boxing as an OOP buffbot?

2. If SE is still worth actually playing, are they still desired by parties and clans?

3. Where are the good lvling spots for groups? When i played you went to CT from 30 to 40 (this still true?). Then top floor of CT from 40 to 51/52ish. (anyone remember Leonarwang?) There wasnt anywhere else to go after that, so lvl'ing got real tough. This is when i stopped playing. My real question is, is there a natural group content progression for good group lvling like this passed 52 now?

Example:

52 to 58 = go to x tower of pain dungeon.
58 to 62 = go to y tower of suffering dungeon
62 to .... you get the idea.

I really dug grouping as an SE (duoing with SH was pretty cool too, but really enjoyed healing and buffing full party).

4. What are the politics of the server now? When i left L2 the clan Rice owned all. I'd like to join a clan soon, but before i do, i want to know what the politics are on the server now.

5. Got a whole bunch of questions about this subclassing thing, but since im a long way off from 75 ill save it for another post hehe.

Thanks in advance,

Coerce

I play a SE as my main, and I love it. I am a clan leader (we have 3 SE's and 2 SO mains), but yes, they tend to be played more as oop boxed buffers. If you are the type that enjoys playing a healer/buffer, then this is the role for you. I find that it is the way I enjoy, so it works very well for me.

Yes. A properly-played SE is a very, very strong asset to clans and parties, especially in mid to high-level areas where a second-box is no comparrison to a live, thinking healer.

Catacomb of the Apostate, near Oren. TOI, or duoed with a decent-level nuker in Valley of Saints / Forbidden Gateway.

Invincible and Chaos are the two power alliances. Chaos is coming up pretty strong, and Invincible has turned into an empire more than an alliance.

Good luck to you, and I am pleased to see more live healers.
Thanks for the reply Jkoster. I cant wait to log in. I installed the cd's i got at L2 release this morning and am now on hour 9 of patching haha, and thats on broadband.

I cant wait to see all the changes. ToI hadnt come out yet when i stopped playing. Is this my next stop for groups? Just go there and LFG like old times in CT? I thought i read that the catacombs were for lvl 30+. Mind adding what lvl the areas you listed are, and are there any more dungeons to LFG at after 50?

thanks,

Actually, the best place to look would be in Aden or maybe Oren. That's where most groups form up for ToI.

Apostate's is a high-40's (with proper groups) to mid-50's catacomb. After that, move to Martyr's Necropolis outside of Giran for your high-50's to mid-60's. After that... I'm at a loss (only 57 right now).
any time you wanan duo with my BD give me a shout
