So I'd like to be able to plan how long I can effectively hunt at certain levels. So, I'd like to know when different level mobs will change color. For instance, I know that at 46, level 40 mobs are light blue. They were green at 45, so I know the cutoff there. Has anyone seen a chart listing the various cutoffs? Is it a standard 5 level difference or does it change as you level?
10+ levels below you = Dark Blue
9-6 levels below you = Light Blue
5-3 levels below you = Green
2 levels below you to 2 levels above you = White
3-5 levels above you = Yellow
6-9 levels above you = Pink
10+ levels above you = Red
I seen one somewhere before I think it was on this site somewhere, like +5 is yellow, 0 - +5 is white, 0 - -5 green... But I am not sure about this.
While we are however on this subject I would like to ask a question too if you don't mind :p.
Does anyone know what exp penalties are for far higher monsters or far lower? Like +5 lvls ahead of you, or +10, or -5, or -10. The reason I ask is because sometimes I kill dark red mobs and they give less exp than a white or yellow :(. Any ideas?
Are you talking about the same mob? Remember that XP given is based also on the mobs special abilities. So different mobs will give different XP sometimes because of that. Also, you may have had a half hp or double hp mob.
Same type of mob. Not same exact mob. Example: OB....I kill a shaman or an elder I get 2000 or 1700 exp. I kill a sentinel I get very close to 1700 I forgot exact number, or a archer, it gives me over 2000 exp. They're all the same type right? I may be wrong but it just seems weird.
Edit: Btw shaman is light red, elder is dark red, sentinel is white and archer is yellow
If you kill mobs that are white or higher there's is no penalty. Green mobs have no penalty. Below green there's a penalty. Mobs have a set amound of xp and killing reds do not give a bonus. It will give the same amount of xp/sp when red as when it's green to you. I've tried it.

It's not only the mob's abilities, but also it's lvl. The general rule, the higher lvl of mob the more xp it gives. Then bonuces such as mob's skills and resistances come in (elder is pure nuker, shaman got drains, archer has power strice, and senitel got nothing, or something like that). Next one is if the mob si strong, weak or regular. In OB all mobs, but elders are strong (got double hp, xp and drops), and elder is regular (or at least was thatin C3).

Correct is:
9+ levels below you = Dark Blue
8-6 levels below you = Light Blue
5-3 levels below you = Green
2 levels below you to 2 levels above you = White
3-5 levels above you = Yellow
6-8 levels above you = Pink
9+ levels above you = Red
