Hello all--i'm a new enough player that each level I encounter raises a lot of questions.
Now that I'm in my early 40's--are there obvious places I can level playing alone?
I currently am playing a warsmith with usual weaps/gear/skills (pole dominant) and will soon have a paladin at 40 as well (35 now).
Recognize my journey hasn't even taken me to many areas of Aden.
Deathpass seems too low. The cata's are too high for solo (or the ones that got me here are too low).
The usual mobs outside of major towns where I've been (gludin, gludio, giran, etc) seem too low.
Execution grounds too low. Tanor Canyon too high! Partisans too low. You probably get the point.
I haven't spent much time around Heine or in the eastern part of aden but assumed those were much higher level mobs.
Any thoughts? I'm looking for reasonable exp locations for SOLOING after lvl 40.
(b4 you say it---"yes" i'm aware i can level faster in groups in catas. And "yes" i have raided--we took over 22 bosses in 6 days--I don't want to get burned out with grouping and occasionally want to play solo).
What I do is search a site that has statistics of monsters lvls and what type they are what they drop. I'm at work now so I can give you any links of top of my head, but many other people know of these sites. They give you everything you need, including locations. At first I was inclined to do Cruma Tower, but I am just plain scared of all the aggros, stunners and flame throwers there :D. But I am willing to give it a try once both my new characters hit 40.

Yeah..i've checked a couple sites myself. It takes a LOT of looking though and then the mob lvl says "Cruma tower" or "Grogan's Flower Garden". That isn't helpful if one hasn't already been to that location to know what ELSE is hanging around---hehe. There ARE lvl 40 mobs in Tanor Canyon--but I died in there in 30 seconds trying to find those--lol.
That's why I thought others might know good locations they have visited--thanks to RumPunch for answer above, too!
At 40 see if you can get help getting the coin quest done. Then you can hunt the timak orcs outside apostate. You xp and get coins at the same time. Then you move to ivory tower and hunt bugbears and get another kind of coin. Sometimes the coins are rare then sometimes they fall like rain. Then you can move to aden and hunt another mob that gives coins. I forget the name.
Be cautious in any new area. For instance the Timaks are an intersting mix of agro and non-agro mobs. The Soilders and the Troop Leaders are agro. The Troop Leaders have a nasty suprise. They spawn FOUR additional mobs. Solo, that's pretty tough.
You can solo much better if you use your golem and a blunt. Then Plains of the Lizardmen seem to be a place with a good keymat drop.
Or you can solo with a pole spamming healing potions, if you like this way more. The entrance to DV from DP seems to be barely OK for you, but you'd better use a live healer there (Holy Weapon is a plus, Resist Shock is a plus, too, as the aggro skeletons there stun).
Haha, I had the biggest surprize when I first encountered them. So I go there, I'm all alone and not even lvl 40 yet. I ran there after a raid boss party went poof and boss was chasing me. The boss gives up on me, so I figure I lvl there a bit. I attack a leader thinking his just stronger and next thing I know I got like 6 mobs on me. Died in a few hits :D. Was fun and exciting though. I will definetely go back...
Around Ivory Tower (pit), then north of Ivory Tower. The further north you go, the higher the level (up to low/mid 50s). Get the quests for these mobs while you lvl there (coin quest for the mobs north of IT, the orb quest for the mobs in the pit)
Entrance to DV is also good, but maybe not right when you hit 40.
Later on cemetery, and even later on forsaken plains.
Here's how the Hunter's quest works: You join the hunter's guild by killing 3 of the 6 groups of mobs that it gives you. Once you are a member, you take requests to kill certain things, and recieve adena as a reward.
Once you are getting requests for mobs that are too low for you, then you continue the quest by becoming a level 2 member, and then you'll get requests for higher level mobs.
*) Mobs that the quest wants you to kill are generally in their high 30's, IMO perfect for a level 40 soloing.
*) Once you're a member, you'll be reciving requests to kill various things around Oren & HV. As you track down the mobs you need, this will make you more familiar with the general area, and you'll know where the good soloing areas are.
*) Getting adena quest rewards for killing mobs that you want to kill anyway is always a good thing.
The quest starts at level 35, but is good through the mid 40s, I believe.
Gator island. The mobs get progressively harder and when they are not giving good xp anymore go into Worshipers. You can stay on Gator island from 40-52.
No matter what your class is (pretty much) you can find a place to solo right up to your 70's. You don't have to be a nuker to be able to solo. I even took my Bishop out to DV and soloed with her for a while. You just have to know how to play your class, and know which mobs/areas are right for your class/lvl. Partying is alot more fun, but if you have to solo, don't worry it is possible after 40, no matter what anyone tells you.
