Castle holding alliances are Dawn. Non castle holding alliances are dusk unless they pay 50k to join dawn as well or get a pass to join from a castle holder.
The necrops are 1 seal, the catas are another. And a thrid allows for a maximum tax rate and also for allowing things at castle sieges.
For the last 7 months ever since early C3 everyone was going dawn. It was a lock to win. Every week all people were allowed to go to catas and necros since dawn always won and dusk always lost.
This last festival week all of Chaos alliance went Dusk against there rival Invincible. And they ninja'ed the festivals and won 2 seals.
It makes it so Invincible can't use the priest to port. Can't hunt in Necropolis, Can't hunt in Catacombs or see the blacksmith or trader of mammom.
But biggest of all it allows Chaos to be the solo alliance allowed to go to kill Anakim and level 11 and 12 SA crystals. And only alliance allowed to use priest and go to catas and necs.
It also shows that there will be competition again for seals. So now its not an automatic choice to go dawn. The non castle holding alliances actaully have a choice to make
Could someone explain to me what this means for an old player just returned and clanless.Im still lost on the 7signs thing.
basically there are supposed to be two sides: Dawn= castle holders and friends, dusk= non castle holders. You can buy into dawn for 50k though (pre 2nd class change it is free). That is considered one of the major flaws of the system. There are three seals, each gives a different sort of effect for winning. Seal of Avarice allows entry to Necropolis labeled dungeons during Winning week, Seal of Gnosis allows access to Catacomb dungeons during winning week, and Strife generally benefits any non castle holding player. They are good xp spots, especially in groups. And Catacombs/Necros are the only place to kill lilth and thus get level 11 and 12 SA crystals. hmm hope that helps, can't think of anything else. But feel free to read over the info under Library>Seven Signs and pm me any questions, will see if I can answer them ;)
Because the Lords of Dawn are defined within the game lore as the castle owners. The Revolutionaries of Dusk are those who would undermine the authority of the Kingdom to control the seals and free Shilen.
I believe its only 10% needed to hold a seal, 35% to take a seal. It'd be easy to take strife if dusk gets itself organized next time. Dawn will never win strife. Too many non-castle holders sign up for dawn and don't want the increased tax rate we'd get if dawn won strife.
I have no ties to any of the alliances or clans (only have heard their names) but I must say, I think it's awesome that Dusk won!
Reading up on the Seven Signs is what got me to try out this game back in November. I always said I'd join Dusk and fight for the underdogs. Unfortunately, as soon as I started playing I realized that no one even tries for Dusk and goes for the 'easy way' out. Myself included. I was very saddened as I always thought this contest to be a very creative way of having fun server contests, something that Lineage was supposed to be about. But, like everyone else, I signed up for Dawn and went hunting and forgot about Seven Signs.
Until lastnight.
Most of my friends were unhappy with the debuffs and unable to go to the catacombs but I was ecstatic! Yes, I had a debuff in town and yes, I couldn't go to some nice hunting spots but wow! Entertainment! Excitement! Isn't this what we play this game for? If we just wanted unimpeded PvE grinding there are plenty of other games like that out there.
I hope Chaos et al can keep this up and make Lionna a real contest out of the Seven Signs! I'll be signing up for Dusk!
or wait.
I won't it is in contrary to my character's beliefs
Prepare for Dawn to fight from the very beginning!
Yeah, I heard about that. I don't RP much but I do enjoy it now and then and have some RP friends I was chatting with lastnight and asking about the fun of fighting for Dusk but she mentioned that since their clan is a "good" RP clan they have to side with Dawn.
I know Dusk are the non-castle owners but I guess to me the castle owners should be more evil than the others ;)
Believe it or not, the competition for the seals is not about good or evil. It's about control.
The Empire wants to keep the seals for their own good, so they can control the populace. The Revolutionaries want to take the seals away so that they can take the control from the Empire.
As for me, now I actually have a reason to follow my character's actual desire and sign dusk. I've been blurring the line between IC and OOC to cater to the screwed-up mechanics for so long...
Unfortunately, I don't think I can, as I'm a part of a castle-owning alliance.
Dusk should've put the 35% towards strife if it really is the most important one. Why delay it 2 weeks unless you're truly incompetent?
taxes aren't quite as important as taking away the castle holders leveling spot, chance at RB, ability to have cheap nice ports through the priests, take away access to BS and merchant of mammon. Anything I am missing?
Its not necissarily good and evil, its the agenda of the liberation of shilen, or her continued restraint. If you want some psychotic dark elf goddess bent on the destruction of the world :looks to the moon: then there ya go! Anyway hopefully this is a wakeup call that the status quo well isnt. Long live the Elmoreaden empire and the lords of dawn!

SA crystals. This is great news, Chaos really pulled a wedgie on Invincible this time.
Just that we wernt expecting that is what i ment :)
I guess Chaos shouldn't be surprised the one festival that kicked us was 31-. Thats the one that I am sure Mirage would be best at >.> And only one they could do to hurt

yea tough decision to do it with our mains and hope we dont delevel
that's true you need 35% to take a seal but only 11 % or so to retain it. So if dusk had won with at least 11 % in the other two they would have held all 3.
