Yet Another Newbie Question: Class?

Player Questions Started Last reply 4 posts
Hello.

I've recently begun playing L2 again, and I figured that I'd rather have a fresh start on another server than to go back to my pre-40's on Teon.

Currently I have a Palus Knight in his mid-20s aspiring to become a BD, but the thought of having another DE kind of bores me. Orcs, however, appeal to me the most.

Here are the questions:
Are the orc fighter classes viable, and how are they compared to a BD? (in usefulness, that is)

Is Tyrant a poor choice compared to the Destroyer?

I have too much love for fist weapons to ignore the Tyrant path, even though the Destroyer seems like the better one to me.
Please help me make up my mind :)

Thanks for your time.
a question like this is best put in the "player question " sub-forum located in the worl discussion.

You will most likely recieve more accurate responses and probobly recieve a larger specrtrum of answers from you to choose from.
Oh, how stupid of me :o
Forget that this thread ever existed :D

(EDIT: Moved to the Player Question section, it seems. My apologies to the moderator and for recklessly causing another destroyer/tyrant thread)
Well... Both Tyrant and Destroyer are damage dealers. Not party subbuffer like BDs.
So, BDs are much more useful for general groups other than melee/mixed gruops. Mages, archers and melee characters want BD in their party. But mages find no use for Tyrant or Destroyer. And archers don't count them as archers.
So... Melee DDs are welcome to any melee/mixed group, but no to every group you'll find.
There is another side of this. You may find three orcs in a single group, but you'll never find three BDs. If the group has one, it can get another one (not always). But third BD generally pushes group too far from "ideal group".

Tyrants are quite capable melee characters. Also they have many convenient combat modes (totams) that make them unique. For sure Tyrants are best gank characters among melees. There is only one drawback for them - they rely on one type of weapons, with lower critical chance. For higher levels criticals play a lot and Tyrants have lesser impact from party buffs of BD and SwS. Nevertheless they are good enough to stand their ground firmly.

Destroyers are a bit more straight-forward in general grind. They hit slow, but they hit hard. They have special skills toward two-handed weapons as well as "pre-dead" skills. Famous Frenzy and Guts are thing that can win any fight if used properly. I don't way destroyer needs less skill to play, but frankly you tactics as destroyer is a bit less versatile comparing to Tyrants one.
Also Destroyer has access to polearm skills. They are not as good as warlords ones, but polearm groups provide a lot of fun even without few specialties of WL.

Both Tyrant and Destroyer are rare breeds nowaday. As many other melee types they have hard time fighint mages and not that easy time fighint archers. Nevertheless both classes are quite interesting and rewarding.
