I am in love with this game, however, increasing I am experiencing that the rewards in the game are for the greifers, pk'ers, cheaters, and other who abuse the game for either real profit or in game profit. Why should any us have to play under these cirumstances. I know this is not a new subject and that this has discussed thousands of times. But I find myself loving the game and hating many of the individuals that are abusing it and abuse others with no recourse, shame, or consequences.
Good friends and good clan is what keeping me here.
I would say if u do like this game, just not the jerks. Give Lionnia or Hindemith a try before u turn off ur account. Erica is far more agressive compared to the others.
Game is a pvp game, if u truely want to enjoy it u need to learn how to fight. No matter what server ur on. Some of us try to quell greifers in the lower lvl areas, but in higher up lvling areas ur going to have to learn to survive with ur friends. Just how it is.
I'm going to have to agree with you on this one. It's sad when concepts like morals and honor are a hinderance to a person or clan. The negative parts of L2 have gotten so out of control they are practicly game mechanics at this point. This includes, bots, disconnections, lag, bugs, ebaying, and gerneal explotation of anything and everything to "get ahead". I do not however have an issue with PK/Greifing as these things fall under the realm of game play factors. I personally disagree with such tactics but it is part of the game and serves to keep the land of Aden interesting. My problem is with the things that break the EULA and go unpunished or with server/client/game issues that continue to go unresolved after many many months.
Then Make the server a better place, dont complain about it,
join the fight.
I'm going try and clean this server up.
bring it back to what it was supposed to be.
thats not to say that Pking and griefing wont happen cause thats part of the game, but i want to fix it to create a better play environment for everyone.

You sound just like HKizzle before he started inviting farmer clans in his alliance during C1, as well as their 1337 customers because making the server a better place is an important enough goal to make the server a horrible place to achieve your goal. <3 irony
But if you do make an alliance/coalition/whatever, remember that who you recruit will determine it's success. If you want a strong cohesive alliance, you'll have to make due without some of the 1337 people of the server, which also means you'll have to make your alliance strong enough to survive without them. There is no easy way out. You can't have 1337 people and claim a holy war.
Have fun with whatever game you chose. I can't think of any other way to convince anyone of anything play because its fun.
I found my focus in game, I joined a very cohesive and organized clan. The alliance is a plus... but that is how I found my focus, with a good clan you cannot go wrong.
We must always remember that this is a game and when it becomes frustrating or causes problems in real life, that's the time to leave it be.
I play because I learned that lesson, so my time in game is good. I love the game. At the basics of it, the game itself is wonderful. It's beautiful graphically and endless.
The End game of most of these types of games is Raiding. There are big bad bosses where you get together a ton of people and you raid. And you raid...and you raid... Once you figure out the encounters, you keep doing them, until they have a new set of encounters to figure out.
This game is different.
When I played the other games (EQ, DAoC and WoW for reference) I had to have huge chunks of time set aside for raiding. This meant that I was tied to playing at certain times and if I didn't play (since I usually play support classes) it was often a problem.
In L2, I don't have to play at specific times every single day. I can still participate but I feel like I have more flexibility. Yes, it takes huge chunks of time to advance, but I can fit that play in as I have time. And Sieges are at set times so I figure when I get to participate in them, it won't be that hard to schedule either.
But more than any of that, it's the people. I could play a single player game that's gorgeous and epic (Oblivion just came out) but it lacks interaction with others and for good or ill, that's why I play.
As much as I hate admitting it, although I HATE being Pk'ed, the fact that it 'could' happen makes the game much more exciting, so even the idiots serve a purpose. It's just when that's all that seems to happen it becomes overwhelming.
But ultimately, if the game is no longer fun. Stop playing. You'll be back though. :)
Thank you all for you comments. I had sort of expected to be flamed with, good ridences, or "can I have you stuff" or silly care bear comments, however I did not recieve those and I was suprised. I've decided to give the game the server more time, frustrations seem less important if you stand back a day or two and let time work some magic. So thank you all for your comments. I've decided to stay on Erica, I have a great clan, which very supportive, and I enjoy my time with them.

Joining the fight doesn't make the server a better place, it simply eventually lowers people to the lowest common denominater.
Yup... but I doubt that the server will change much. It hasn't changed a lot in the past two years and now that those who represent that system are in well established power its far more unlikely than ever. It would take a lot of effort to change things with force, effort that the average gamer is not willing to invest into a silly game like L2.
When more players catch up with the 99% botted SP members, there will be server changes. They won't be able to bully people who are 10+ levels lower than them for much longer.
In a game where it takes the ordinary semi-casual gamer (which would be considered kind of hardcore in other MMOs) about 15 months to "catch up" I wouldn't hold my breath for it.
I'm not, I'm just not that excited anymore... unless taunted of course. :p
If your expectations are too high you're likely to fail, no matter how hard you try. Just do your best and see what happens, a lot healthier for the nerves.

SP are hard to beat cause they are strong. From what i've seen SP arent just a bunch of noobs who know how to use walker. They can also pvp pretty well. I've seen multiple vids of them kicking some serious a.ss. So i guess im trying to say "dont hate the player hate the game". If you can't keep up with the competition find a new server or a new game. SP is here and it seems like here to stay. Learn to live with them. Learn to fight them or Learn to let go of Erica.
Solely the fact that you join the opposite side doesn't change my opinion much in your favour... and the fact that you lurk around orp doesnt change my opinion much in your favour either. :p
I've seen enough PvP with SP first hand to have my own fact-based opinion, yet I don't have to come here and overly praise them for being the aholes most of them are.

I dont know about u guys, I reached the point where complaining and arguing about SP is pointless. All I see are alliances becoming lessor forms of SP and want a peice of the pie. Let it go, is it seriously worth the stress and brain power trying to out argue or opinionize others about the who/what/when and why of SP?
Want to fight SP go right ahead and do it. Otherwise more to this game then fighting the great enemy. Cause unless u can get unlimited resources, u got be kidding urselves in accualy taking giran/aden away unless SP is careless. Log in, find a group, and have fun on vent. Its a game not another version of RL.
No drama and having some laughs is worth protecting and fighting for.
you want a reason not to quit dont give anyone the satisfaction of another true player leaving the game so more jerk faces can take over asnd the whole server is bot city
Cal I was just stateing the facts, then showing you where I got my information from. If you think im praising Sp then your wrong. If you are tired of hearing me speak the truth about SP. Then I'm equally tired of hearing you complain about them and spam the forums with your many pointless posts.

You are not? Uhm well. :) Your last posts read differently.
Be prepared to be judged on the first impression you give about yourself... if you fooled me about it, more power to you. :p
I know well enough that SP is the strongest pvp fraction on Erica... and has been for the last months... hard not to notice it actually when you play on Erica for a while. ;)
But considering their general style I don't think I have to give them credit for anything... especially not for the rude style in which they fight their clanwars (against me and my people). Ranting about it wont probably change anything to the better... but giving them kudos for their achievements would be plain icky from my point of view. They don't acknowledge anything we do (for what reason anyway), so why should we start that? Earning my respect is a bit harder just showing off with your pvp score.
Forums = drama magnet lol Don't worry about it thou, best to just ignore it and move on with ur day. Same old back and forth and leads to same old result.
Maybe start some ideas or host some events. Get ur minds off this silly war and try to have some fun. I mean is it all worth the stress being right and making sure people agree with u? People make up their own minds, just stand with thous u agree with and have fun. Wasting ur time trying to convince them of something they dont want to believe is just that. Ingame results will speak for themselves, when people have the right ideas their results will get noticed.
Meh why are you all so negative about drama... and why do you think one must always be trying to achieve something. :p Sometimes I just come here to rant for the heck of it. I'd have to be somewhat ignorant to think that people who don't even read these boards (nor probably are able to understand such long sentences as they are written here ;)) would be much impressed about my view on the world in general and their deeds in particular.
The boards are just another kind of playground, you can PK people, you can grief, or just party and chat a bit. ^^ A bit like L2 without the pretty graphics... oldschool... hehe.
If you're tired of the drama create another topic about something fun... to keep it clean of politics and drama here on the server boards wold be a tough job tho... as these boards are... well... limited to server politics and events basically. ;)
Ever noticed what RL politicians do all day? I'd say they spend 50% of their time promoting drama and some 49% in preparation for some more drama. :) And that's the better half of them.
i will admit it is kind of fun to start stuff and see where it goes just for opinions of people but there should be a limit . i mean do you really want people to gang up on you because all you do is piss people off just get a laugh. yes there is drama but theres also karma.
I like the politician = cheeleader comparison... and I think it actually underlines my point... unless politicians are significantly different (to the better) around where you live. :)
You might have noticed or not that I usually don't deliberately try to get people angry. But it's fun to engage in verbal combat with others about controversial topics (all in the mind of good sports). You might see that as endless and repetative drama... but actually on rare occasions one is able to defeat his opponent by revealing some major fault in his line of thought and arguments. Those brief moments of sweet success actually make the board-grind worthwhile for me. :)
I've been defeated a couple of times as well before as I make mistakes too and people are welcome to enlighten me about them... if the make a good point. :)
If I wanted to merely piss off people I'd lurk orph or guru and make remarks about other poster's parents or genitals... but well... just doesn't thrill me that much. ^^
Cal
PS: Boo for triple posts! I actually hopes for three new opinion. T_T
LOL im glad you like my analogy. i agree with you on the whole debateing about interesting things i find it better to fight about intelectual things other than your mama bologna. sorry to disapoint you about the tree post. i have a habit of posting before im completely done typing.

Would you like some cheese with the whine?
Cal
Drama.. well doesnt solve anything. People want talk and talk and never really get anything done. Others grandstand where say do one thing, but are they really doing it? Where does it end really?
Have a problem that doesnt want be resolved, then do right thing and stand by what u say. Maybe a clan or alliance not what u thought it was, leave and join/make one that does agree with u. Instead try make ur inlaws happy by letting them stay in the same appartment and ur husband looking for rope to hang himself. What motels and standing up for ur household is for.
Stop talking and resolve the problem. Might not be the easiest or most popular thing to do, but sometimes just has to be done.
Trust me if I'd be able to solve all my problems there woldn't be any. :) Unfortunately I'm not superman and it's pretty hard convince others to do the dirty work for me. ^^
So I'm going to stick to your advise and have some fun my way while the world keeps going anyway. And when I feel like it I'm gonna throw my pitiful self against the aden castle gates until they obey my will and swing open, I'll set the very air on fire to burn those who stand against me to little piles of ashes and after that I'll **** into the NC user database and find every single eula-violator myself, ban their accounts and overwrite the disk-space where it was with all 0.
Or I might just open a beer, put a pizza in the oven and troll the boards a little... haven't really decided yet. ^^
No seriously... you don't have to worry... I know my goals and I persuade them as I see fit. Causing drama on the boards is just the icing. ^^

I hear that Cal. I was in a situation that I could not change for what i preceived the better. Did the best thing for both my old friends and myself and left. Started my own clan made for people who agree with me. There are options, just not popular and/or sometimes heavy hearted ones to take.

HAHA,
*cough* love to see that *cough*
God I could use a beer and a pizza with some crazy pizza spice right now >< **** u Cal making me hungry :D
you know speaking of drama and all that goober i saw the funniest thing today 2 old women got into a fight over a scrach ticket. each of their purses went flying and they swor at eachother in french it was so funy. one of the store clerks had to escort them to their cars. :)
It's a bit silly but you have to write "I'll take a prolonged break about which I don't know how long it will be yet" if you want to let your friends know that you're going to quit.

Policies... :-/
Cal
Normally players quit for their own reasons, some are due to the actions....well inactions of the company. They don't want new and excited players from reading some of the fustration current players are having.
My assumption anyways. Anycase overly moderated for my taste.
Oh I've read enough "I quit" posts which were deleted and such that were not, to know what is possible around here.
On one hand the censorship sucks big time if oneself is affected by it... but on the other hand it makes this place a lot more enjoyable than orp or bla... I guess nothing comes without a price.

We are all part of the Erica community. We cant keep tabs on one another all the time. I dont see anything wrong with saying good bye, just only need to moderate the ones that get out of hand. One that was just deleted wasnt the ranting crazy player, but just one of erica's favorite dwarf saying good bye.
Anycase too late and doubt I can really help change their policies. Now if they showed this much effort enforcing their polices ingame I probably wouldnt have too much of an issue with it. Whatever really... :p
That was so obvious... and it doesn't underline your point at all, since this is a board dedicated to server politics and not civil rights. :p If at all we should have this discussion in the off topic section.
But of course you're free to go whereever you like alpha.
Cal
PS: I don't think they will clear this mess up a third time, prepare to be locked everyone. ^^
How can you "convince someone not to quit" when you can only bring a partial answer to him/her? For a good argumentation, one must use the following elements:
1- Create a Thesis
Summarise the reasons to quit <-- Partially done: critical info are against forum "rules" (lol)... hell, any negative idea seems to be against "forum" rules.
2- Ellaborate an Anti-thesis
Counter these reasons to quit with opposite point of view <-- How can you do it with a partial Thesis? Answer: the anti-thesis is and will be broken.
3- Define a Synthesis
Reassemble 1&2 and try to bring up the most relevant ideas to make your points <- How can you even hope to do this with broken part 1&2?
Last Caleria,
Your comments (this is a board of .xxx, not yyyy, plz go to zzz) was the most elitist and egoist I've ever read from you... this is the saddest part in all this "mess" imo
#### EDIT #####
This being a server for political discussion?
Do you have any idea how much open-minded and free a debate must be for it to be called "political"? This is all but a politcal server discussion and you know it.. this is more the place for "Hello, I've just started and wanted to know what soulshots are?".
Not that it's a bad thing.. I mean I too love to help the old mammies to cross the road but you will never see a full debate here and I will never give you the reasons why.. nor will you ever give me yours. ;)
I will not usePM to continue an open debate.. i'm not posting to chat but to learn/see others opinions and suggestions.. part of what ppl call the learning process or what Socrates refers to as the "Maieutic".
Check Fragstealer forums or L2pets for such places.. if advertising for fan base legit forums aren't against Eula, that is.
