As was brought up in another thread, many fan sites were left out of the L2 Battle Tournament. The Warcry Network had obtained exclusive rights to "televise" the tournament, and has posted the First Division replay files already. I am not privy to the details of how this came about, so dont ask me questions. I am already a little miffed at Razor for using the in game video recorder, which has a usefulness level of 0 for seeing who is who, though I assume it was chosen by NCSoft as the format of choice. I havent been able to talk to him all day in IRC to find out.
Yeah me too, only thing is, after watching the fights, we might take those new alts and start leveling; then we'd have that new server we've been wanting.
Yeah but if they are fighting it's easier because you have targets to hit, people to go after, people are giving orders in ts/vent etc. Someone on the outside doesn't know who is going for what, or what either team is up to.

Furthermore l2r files are by far inferiror to a properly frapsed sequence, and by only allowing 1 site in Ncsoft has cut out nearly all possibility of montage type videos made by the 90% of the community who will never se the server in person.
Ooooooooooooooooooh Ellie makes some hawt movies!!! I think she does an amazing job on each and every one she does, and certainly puts a ton of time and effort into them. :D
I do not know how Warcry came to gain the exclusivity here. I do know that other sites were invited to attend. Wether they attended or not is somthing I do not know.
What I do know is this. The Warcry Network is dedicated to bringing you the best content possible. To this end, I (and others) have been busting our humps to rewrite guides, and get new guides into place wherever we can. I realize not much new is showing at this time, but bear with us, the site was allowed to fall extremely out of date, and it will take a while to get back on track.
Start using Fraps in the battle tournament then. Using the ingame recorder aint something that I'd call "busting my hump". And if you guys dont have the skill to make a good vid out of the raw fraps, give it to experts on Blah.

Basically =what I am hearing form the warcry rep is we got the rights for the battle tournament, and while we say we are doing our best, in reality we will do it how we want and you will ike it since we are the only ones with it. So if you want to see the tournamment you can get it form us of form the ppl who participated and we really don't care.

As soon as I saw they were .l2r files, I sent him a PM saying the same things you guys are. HE has access to the tourney server, I do not. You can complain all you want, but I cant change anything. I sent him my concerns with using the in game replay options. If YOU dont like it, by all means, POST it on the Warcry Forums where I can bring it to his attention, and the site manager. Complaining about it here, or on Blah wont do any good, as I am one of 2-3 people that read here daily.
I imagine they used the .l2r files because it allows the viewer a way to see the fight from many different angles as opposed to just a stagnant 2 dimensional movie.
People are just upset because their names and clan tags are not showing. Other than that, they are nice and enjoyable to watch. These battles were an excellent (missed) opportunity to promote the game to other gamers (potential customers); just watching them makes me want to level (not bad enough to forsake life and power grind tho) The stupidest thing about the format is you have to have the game loaded to view the battles. Potential customers are not ever going to see these battles unless they see the fraps.
It's time that you moderators to humble yourselves, and surf over and bow down before the Majesties at Blah, and petition them to let you download their fraps from this site.
Well youc an replay the files and then fraps it but in PVP that still won't help much, unless you feel like labeling everyone... which would take FOR-ever.

People have a right to voice their opinion on this matter. I understand that you're feeling defensive, but Warcry was given a privelege, and the fact is, it wasn't lived up to.
Any player that's ever paid attention to game movies knows the shortcomings of replays. Obviously you agree with this too. One, you can't see the names. Two, you can't see the HP bars. Three, it has zero value to people that don't have the client installed, which is too bad because I think good Battle Tourney footage will do well in bringing new blood to this game.
You can't expect people to be happy with this, and they will bring up Blah because like it or not, the people that run that site are people that seem to know the game.
All that said, you should probably talk to Razor before you make more posts. A divided front only makes Warcry look worse.
Actually, I have spoken to Razor, he and others at Warcry are looking into what other options are possible. They DO listen to what is said, and try to make as many people happy as possible.
Also, any participants in the battle that frapsed thier Fights, please feel free to link your fraps on Warcry also. If I go looking for links, I will ask permission before cross posting them over to Warcry.
