the email is scam, the scary part is how did the scammer target exactly you for the e-mail. and by the number of people getting such mails it can not be a coincidence. there is some serious leakage at those offices. and those same offices handle credit card number, the threat is not to be taken lightly.
so, yes, NCSOFT, please do something about it. and please dont use trird party companies to handle confidential information.
thank you.
some people have it that their email information is viewable through the forum. Or visiting other sites where this information maybe obtainable l2blah, various clan websites and forums (looking at the member list). Its not as hard as one would be lead to believe.
please, tell me, how many sites have you put your email into?
any other then lineage2.com? then gg i bet it led to spam.
there is any easy way for ppl to do this. infect computer w/ spyware etc. and have it send data based on what games u play. if for example they see u playing l2 then send u this mail, if they see u playing wow they send u that mail etc.
if i was boss of the internet i'd force everyone to take an exam before they log in ^^
Oh my god! I loved this.
This kind of scam is very common, but when you post these things people PLEASE do not put the links in the message. People are not very bright (since there is no Internet exam) and some will click on it.
Those who will click on Links in E-Mails are destined to be doomed !
NCsoft is not our babysitter. Faking an E-Mail is easier than leveling to lvl 2.
"NCSOFT DO SOMETHING.."
They are already doing something. They clearly state, that NO E-Mail of NCsoft will ever ask for your account information.
It is more than a bit disturbing, how many people are using the internet without following just a little bit of obvious information about it. Such "account verification" mails are older than Lineage2 in total and probably older than some users of this board.
Aye, you can even send emails using the cmd prompt of windows, and fake the address ;) I, you, anyone who knows a little bit of computers can send a mail from "NCSoft" if they so choose to.
it is much refreshing to see people getting the back of ncsoft, then the other way around, he, he.
and no, my e-mail is not for every site i visit. got another mail for that specific purpose.
and true, ncsot, or any other company will never ask you to confirm information by asking you to give away, over a mail system, personnal information, although you still may respond the mail by giving away a completly imaginery information, toy with scammers :D
They have. They've let users know that they will never send out these kinds of emails. Or what did you have in mind? Would you like the to read all of your email to make sure nothing "bad" gets through? Come on now.
