Summons

I dont know if its been asked and I dont have time to search. Im tired and Im working tomorrow :p. Are summons damage affected by your matk, or by their lvl or by what? TY.
They are completely independent of your stats. they have their own based on level and buffs.
Just what I wanted to hear. Now I can sleep assured that my -9 int will not hurt me :D. Ty :)
i dont wanna start any rumors but my golem crits waaaaay more than it should
What about cubics? Are they affected by any of your stats? Like is high str or dmg more likely to trigger a cubic that attacks as well? Or int or maybe wit for a life cubic? Etc.

Basically I want to know or maybe hint towards what makes a cubic commence an action...
attacking cubics seem to depend on your attack rate.

attack speed
more time you hit someone greater the land chance
Cool one last thing and I'm all set i think .

PhantomSummoner tat setup:
+4wit+4men-8int+4con-4str
or
+4wit+5men-9int
or
+5with+4men-9int

Using dual spiritsword for the health bonus to make up for the low con to begin with. Will +4 con and 25% hp bonus worth the loss in -4 str since I will be melee built, or would the 25% be enough, or better yet should a -4str +4dex be better than both? Ideas? I've seen this being discussed before but it wasnt a clear answer :p
I would go with the last one. unfortunately that's like taking a piece of glass and then superchilling it.

I refuse to take down any of my low physical stats but if you're going to change them Str is your dump stat and if you need anything it's HP. Though i've honestlythought a about a -4 str +4 dex one. If you have a health weapon the +4 con is pretty small in comparison.

Also there isn't a clear answer really, that't why you couldn't find one.
Ok, I'm a bit confused...

If a Phantom Summoner is to really become a melee fighter controlling his summons, wouldn't you want to increase strength to do more damage?
Not from what I am getting from readin all these threads about em. Apparently since your summon is your main weapon, your job is to stay alive and distract the enemy from the summon maybe. Thus higher con or dex. The summon will do far more damage than you can dream of doing :D. But what would you take from a poor Phantom Summoner with the lowest con to start with and decent not great dex? Nothing...

I will go with Physics4ever suggestion though. The reason why I wanted to even go +con in the first place is because fear of getting stunned, shocked etc from an archer.
I do good melee damage with my setup so i won't touch str. But because of how i've set myself up a dex in exchange for a str will help me out in the net. (dagger w/focus etc)
I suppose I always thought of the PS as an "Elric" type character. Apparently not so much.
I'm going to feel ashamed to ask but desite years of people telling me to read them i haven't read the Elric books. I don't even know the actuall series name.

Anyway so what do you mean by us being mroe of elric characters? I know he was an anti-hero summoner but that's about it.
Interesting setup. Did you minus your int, or any other change? Are you using a shield? A more important question. Do you get stunned often :(? By mob or player. The more I think about the more I like a dagger over duals with health because of the speed (triggering cubics)... Would you take duals with health or focus over dagger with focus? Maybe you can post a screenshot or two so I can observe for myself :p
I use a shield, which BTW makes me able to kill archers and daggers pretty well. I have -9 int (i used a cheap dye so i have more - than i have +. On the up side i cast like a demon now.

I used to use duals, i like having the shield more but with focus, especially in groups my crits are fantastic. If i went back to duals i would go focus (unless i was doing S grade ones because their health one rocks).

As to stun. I use doom because i can't afford a NM helm. I love the set but my con is so low it's not even funny. I would say that from an even level player stun is well over 90%. It's not that big of a deal usually because i've got my pet and he can take care of most things but yeah. As a PS even with a + con tat you don't do well with stun.

They are simply some of the most inventive books ever written. (IMO)

Elric was a fighter but because of his Melnibonean heritage he was able to summon "demons" of sorts. His ancestors had made various pacts with the demons and gods of Chaos (in these books the struggle really isn't so much "good" against "evil" but "Chaos" against "Law". Or at least it shows what happens when the protagonist tries to turn away from his heritage only to be forced to turn to the forces of chaos for help.

Anywhooo.... He is an albino and because of his race it affects him by making him very very weak. He has to rely upon drugs to give him strength. Over the course of the story he is led to a sword called "Stormbringer" which is a Demon forged in the shape of a black runed sword. When he uses it and kills a creature with a soul, the sword eats the soul but transfers some of the strength on to Elric. If Elric gets too much of this energy he goes into something of a killing frenzy and can even kill his own allies (as the sword doesn't care, it just wants to eat).

So, getting back to the summoner discussion, I always thought that the summoner was more like Elric in that he summons beings to fight by his side but that the summoner also melees. At least in the case of the Phantom Summoner. So either an increase in strength for damage or Con for hitpoints.

Though it seems that the summoners of L2 are, perhaps, more about summoning the demon and keeping it alive than waging into battle alongside it.

I just noticed doom drops 2 from your con making it even lower than the lowest of all chars :D. Ouch... If your summon dies, even melee could prolly take you down in 5 hits :p. But I really like your setup though. Focus seems like a smart idea for anyone regardless. We shall see...
You can definetely go alongside it in battle. Your just much weaker than the summon. Your story makes sense, but if Elric was to up his str, he would have to give up some more of his already low hp :p, thus making him and the sword kill faster but also weaker against attacks. And I consider my summons to be just like that sword was. Hungry for souls, they give you a % of exp from what they kill so it's similar to the story.
Can the PS transfer damage to the summon like a Necro? Because that would be an interesting feature.

40 - Transfer Pain - Transfers part of one's damage to a servitor. MP will be consumed continuously.

Yep. I love it :D

Hmmmm... maybe my "2nd" subclass :p
My idea of summoner is to live trough it ;)
so +4Con, +4Men, +4 Wit and Health Weapon.
Going for DC light. Only because it looks better than NM <.< I don't want to wear doom again, just red one.
Anyways. only thing that gives me trouble is what can reduce or stop my movement. Nukers sleep me and I'm helpless (I know... NM.. but it's ugly <.<). Also entangle pretty much kills me outright against archers. Mass PvP I rarely see debuffs so I stay in the back and send cheap summons trough the lines (got that turned against me few times when someone broke trough an I was like "uh oh... where's my summon?").
For my setup once I hit B grade, i've mostly been leaning heavily towards keeping myself alive/defencive.

Currently I have a +3 hwa w/ health, Bw light (+10% cast speed), and a knight shield (mostly there for looks, last full drop I got, which was a very long time ago, and it's too uncommon/cool lookin for me to give up).

For my tats I went -5 Str, +5 Con, -4 Int +4 Wit.

Those tats have worked out really well for me, probably by now the +5 con is about a good couple hundred hp, combined with Sa health I have about..umm. 2600, maybe leaning towards 2700. And with my clan hall's bless the body I have maybe 3600 hp. Which is very valuable combined with my 40% transfer pain.
Then, with the +4 wit and the +10% cast speed I can battle heal myself at a pretty **** good rate which is amazing for pvp, especially If i use it to try and throw off nukes on classes with lower end mdef (even if my aura flare hits someone for 100 damage a hit, at the speed I can get them off combined with my summon I can pull of some really good damage)
How did you do -5-5-4? -5 tat exists??????

-4
-1
-4
-1
-4
total:
5 spaces
How can this be?

-5 Str, +5 Con, -4 Int +4 Wit

+3con/-3str, +2con/-2str, +4wit/-4int
...or a 4+1 instead of 3+2, but you get the picture.
+3 +2 is cheaper than +4 +1 though so if you have a choice do that.
Thx a lot. At first I was inclined to use Mammon to buy dyes from him, but after I calculated the cost in adena, plus time to wait for his lazy ***, I would be better off using the aa for something else and just buying the dye's from players. Even though some overprice them so much, I always find some desperate guy willing to sell it cheap cause he dropped his armor or something :D. The other day I bought a brig helm for 1 mil again and sold it for 2.3 in less than 15 minutes. I love this game.

This is type of set up I am saving up for. Instead of BW LA I want to go Avadon LA set. Mainly for weight capacity since I plan on having a buff staff with me. Looks lot better than BW LA too lol.

Nice info none the less =)
New found questions :p:

1. The 6 hours delay for a dark wizard. Is it 6 hours of playing the game, or could you log off, come back in 6 hours and resummon?
2. 10,30,90 etc. experience taken. Is it the experience taken from what the summon kills, or from my overall exp I get, they eat so and so %. Example: I do nothing. Summon kills monster that gives 1000 exp (summon is 30% exp taken). Do I get 700? Or do I get 0? This question doesnt really makes sense anymore :p... Basically how does the whole summon exp being taken works?

Well, when I was playing around with my summons in C1, it was just 6 hours, so i could log out, go to sleep, then be able to use my summons the next morning. I'm not entirely sure if that's true now.

Alright, if you have the 30% xp summon (shadow etc.) whenever you get experience, you get 70% of it. It doesn't matter if you killed the mob, your summon killed the mob, or your party killed the mob. No matter what, if you, your summon, or your party killed a mob, you'll get 70% of what the monster gives, or 70% of your share (if in a party).
