new to lineage - liking it, just need advice

hi every1, liking L2 so far just unsure on some stuff

i picked a melee class n was wondering how do melee's beat range class's in pvp? i was having a friendly duel with some1 n they just ran faster then me n hit me, n repeat also when i had the newbie buff i ran faster then him but i cudnt him hit if he kept on running, when i get to his face my char stops a second n wont atk n then runs after him again.

also having money problems, buying hp pots n sprit shots take all my money i earn which leaves me with nothing to buy new armor n weps, some quest do give me a new wep etc but i still need armor n such, is it ment to be this hard till higher level? or any advice u cud give me wud be appreciated.

Sheild. Sheild stun. Greater haste pots.

My suggestion for your money problems would be to fish.

Catch fish gems, and sell them for 15-20K pretty easy each. This should fund you rather quickly.

Darkmotion has it partially correct. Speed is important. However, the rest of the answer is, to defeat ranged classes you must be a ranged class.

if they know their class and you know yours, they will always win

that is known as the kiteing bug
we have been reporting it for years and NCsoft still doesnt realize it exists

it is impossible to succeed in lineage spamming SS and healing pots
in fact even if you never use 1 SS or pot it wont be long untill you dont have enough adena to properly equip yourself

if you do not have an economic plan you will be doomed to ebay or quit
i couldnt say much about making money at lower lvls but odds are darkmotion is right
also if you can figure it out use the manor system, its the only reason im still playing and have decent equipment

From one melee to another..

Don't get discouraged if the archers and mages kick your *** 1v1. They pretty much always will.

This isn't a 1v1 game though, and at the higher lvls 1v1 doesn't happen nearly as much as group PvP of at least 4v4 or more.

Once you start getting into group PvPs or bigger, you'll find out that us melee's have a role, and we are important every once ina while. (sieges)

Plus, we're due for a big boost to our PvP abilities. :)

Quit using pots and shots...except in emergencies. Save your money.

Besides what the other players have said, here is some advice.

Never use more shots than what your adena drop will be. It's easier for a nuker because I use 2 shots and make much more with the adena drop. Harder for melee, so maybe use a shot on the first hit and maybe a third but no other.

Also... you might be hunting mobs that give you great experience but take too long and they take too much damage out of you.

Hunt greens. greens. maybe even light blues if it comes to that.

The idea is to get a steady rhythm going. Less xp per kill but more over time, you will be damaged less and will need to use less (or no) shots.

Learn the market and buy low/sell high. This will take a while because you need to start low. However, if anyone has been watching the news, there is this guy who decided to do an experiment. He took a Red Paper Clip and decided to trade it/barter it up until he got a house.

And he did it.

That is how the market works. So, fish and sell what you get. Then maybe buy some enchant scrolls that people are trying to get rid of and sell for more. Also, be patient because the market fluctuates. I once sat on a cashe of D grade weapon/armor scrolls for 2 months before I sold them at a very nice profit.

As far as melee beating ranged? They can but the melee needs to catch them and that is the issue.

So it depends on what you want to do. Be clear on that first (oh.. and this goes for life as well but you didnt' come here for that type of adivce :p ). If you want to be a pvp god then don't go melee. If you want to be melee but invited to a lot of parties go Blade Dancer. Etc.

don't listen to the haters... buy a d grade 'helmet' set up a shop that says "dc helm 60m" and sell the d grade helm for 60m. This will fund you through b-grade!

i'd rather he be a scammer than the noob that comes in here complaining nc sucks because he got scammed

One thing that I've found really helps is to get yourself to the DE village. There are some very profitable quests up there that will net you 10-15k each run (three quests). Lather, rinse, repeat.

The only problem with this is you'll probably end up fighting for space with the mindless. But, if you do a little browsing around, you'll find some spots where they're not so much a problem.
