Non event - why are they getting worse?

General Discussion Started Last reply 26 posts
The events here used to be great, but just recently they have declined badly. Are they running out of ideas? Scared of flooding the markets with stuff?

I thought nothing could be worse than the letters event, where I managed to get lots of shield scrolls and not a lot else, but this Easter event has been a farce. I have been playing 5-8 hours every day since it started and I have not seen a single rabbit. I even took a couple of hours out of my grind to run around searching, but lets face it - running around in obscure places trying to target super rare rabbits isn't exactly fun. Ther exp lost by NOT grinding makes the hunt worthless, especially when the SP given is so poor (and I am speaking from clan mates reports on rabbits, not my own experience)

So please try and do something a little better next time NC. This event has been a total failure - please learn from it.

Thanks
cant make everyone happy at sametime. if the event rewards are high, people will complain it ruins the ecomony(laugh). when the rewards are low(last couple of events) its a 'waste of time' or not noteworthy. i do miss the events when i could pocket a couple million adena tho

Very very few complained about the pumkin event, raidboss event 2, first rabbit or letter event. (ok, yes, we did complain about the rabbit event, but alot less than this one)

Now its a veritable flood of dissatisfied people, which definetly shows that coming the christmas event and onward things have gone downhill.
hmm perhaps it was just a few loud people complaining but i remember some were shouting that their castles couldnt make money because of events
Yeah, that was a general concern about enchant scrolls, not the events themselves.
If you thought nothing could be worse than the letter event or this event, then you definitely weren't around for this heaping load:

Happy Valentine's Day! In celebration of this holiday, we're offering
our players the chance to win complete
sets of jewelery - very useful with Chronicle
2's increase in magic-casting monsters!

Between February 14th and February 16th,
eight pairs of enchanted Magic Rings will
be hidden throughout the land of Aden -
ranging from +1 to +8. Befor you go
thinking it's a regular scavenger hunt,
there's a twist!
(We only included enough for 16 people to get anything!)
Before you can win, you
must find the player with the counterpart
ring and swap.

A set of clues
(telling you only that the rings are indeed
somewhere in the world of Aden and not,
for example, in the lands of Norrath or Azeroth;)
will be published on this
page on February 15th at 12:00
noon pst to help you find the items.

Well, the valentines event was kinda new and cute (and they had a sense of humour, lol).

There was alot of things they didn't take into account in the first events, then they improved and improved, then more and more started having fun...and then it all plummeted.

I think HGMSpam spiked the office waterdispenser, lol.

hmm perhaps it was just a few loud people complaining but i remember some were shouting that their castles couldnt make money because of events

who should we be carring about? the few people that own castles or the majority of the player base. not only that but castle's make more than enough money
I think most people would be happy if the next event gave lvl 11/12 crystals since they're now pretty much only something you either buy from farmers or get if you belong to the mega super hyper duber power alliance.
No, the castle owners weren't actually complaining. It was the players trying to craft their gear without relying on scamming, RMT or constant delevelling of multiple dwarves and whose manor profits got yanked out from under them so that someone lazier than them could get richer that were complaining. Not entirely invalid. ;)

Why does an event have to be greatly rewarding for people to enjoy it? Whatever happened to just plain old fun? I bumped into a bunny yesterday night when I was lost in the twists and turns of some catacomb, and I was quite happy to one-shot it and pick up after it. :p A fair chunk of experience (heh, I remembered to unsummon the 90% pony before I shot the rabbit) and an SP scroll that I will up-charge an ebayer for when the event is over instead of wasting it by using. ^^

The event shouldn't have advertised the idea of looking for the little beastly things so much - I believe it was good for everyone who just happened to take whichever ones they bumped into rather than trying to hunt them.

PS: And people would also cringe if the market got flooded with them again, because for some it's the way they pay for their SS. There's no making one event and pleasing all, it's multiple events aimed at the same audience in a row (like the multiple high-profit events that crashed the market last time, and the multiple fun-only events that are boring some people out of their minds now) that's the problem. :p
I can not listen to another "crash" the market load of crap.

By far the most highend producing event was the pumpkin quest.

It allowed everyone a chance at getting up to an enchant weapon A scroll.

I was in a castle owning clan at the time and we took a bath on it.

But thinking back, it didnt "crash" the economy.

It brought it down to a point where anybody, ANYBODY could afford items.

If a non crashed economy is where A grade helms are going for 100KK and enchant armor A are 800K and weapon are 8kk, then please NcSoft, "crash" this economy again.
You're quoting the wrong items, namely fully crafted ones with rare recipes - the pumpkin event had no impact on their pricing.

It brought enchant prices down by 50% on Devianne, giving the farmers full control of our material market, which was, prior to that, stabilised by our very healthy manor. Mats shot up, manor prices came down, a double blow to the gut for anyone who was trying a mat intensive crafting project (like a weapon or main piece of armour) during that time.

Gustin never had a stable manor to begin with, so possibly you didn't notice the impact at all - but on Devianne, varnish going up from roughly 600 to well over 1k and animal bone going from 400 to 700 was very, very noticable.
On Gustin pumpkin event caused almost all manor systems to shut down or at least halven their productions, because it became very unprofitable. When we were helding castle that time, loss went up to 80 mil within one siege period.
No manor system = no seeds = no fruits buyback = no raw meterials for market.

If a non crashed economy is where A grade helms are going for 100KK and enchant armor A are 800K and weapon are 8kk, then please NcSoft, "crash" this economy again.

gustin :/
and yeah from what i see today its 10 mil for EW-A and 900k for EA-A

i agree another event where we can buy soul crystals and EA/W-A would be a better option than decideing to buy either from the millions of farmers or the one 70+ BH still playing the game
For a fix on enchant scrolls, it'd be better if they just fixed the manor so that it becomes reasonable for the Lord to sell the produce rather than keeping it to themselves. Or force them.

But of course ,as I said, we've had a drought of high-reward events, so why not? Personally, I think it would be good to have a rythm of one just for fun (rabbits), one high reward (pumpkins), one limited rewards (raid bosses), and one unique reward (run) event after each other, supplying everyone with a healthy dose of enjoyment and rewards of all the right kinds. *.*
Plus the cream of the crop the enchant scrolls.

I named three things.

One was full grade rare recipe item. Your comments welcome and understood.

The other two were directly affected by the quests.

How many people had a WH full of D enchants?

An they only go for 100K in an uncrashed economy, so I feel the impact was minimal.

And my favorite lvl 7x SE, It seemed that the manors shut down because the unmentionable players found the quest more profitable.

I was able to turn in every golden and chilly cobol that I had been unable to turn in up to that point during that event. I had thousands of them. :D

The more I think of it, the more I cant wait til October and hope they dont nerf it.

** Editing because you responded before I could.

I love your plan for the events. Send NCSoft a resume plz.
I like the rabbit event.

- It adds a mild spice to the game, you never know if you will find one.
- I am better off after the even than without it. Not a lot, a few %s on a few toons and a few SP scrolls.
We've had some great events, with awesome rewards that didn't kill the manor's. There are lots of other rewards that are very enjoyable to get and can be profitable than enchant scrolls. This is even more true with all the new accessories. I mean, instead of an EWA, the reward could be a monocle or an eyepatch. I think one of the cool things about the pumpkin even was that it gave out consumables, SS and SPS rewards do slow the economy, but it's very short term.

Right now on Gustin, hell I'd be just as happy with 200 varnishes dropping as I would with an EWC scroll.

It's just a matter of getting a little more creative with the rewards, and then thinking through the effect of injecting those types of rewards into the economy.

I'd like to see an event like the medal event from last year that has A grade armor recipes for the rewards. Sure, it would hurt the people selling those items for a bit, but the rest of us could sure use a breath of fresh air!! Hell, I'd be super happy if the reward was TOI blueprints, or even just the Papyrus'.
Some simple things that could have made the event a lot more fun (in my opinion) :

1) rabbit spawnrate should have been 10fold => at least everyone could find some bunnies and enjoying the event. The rabbits could give 10 times less xp to get the same reward output.
2)Rabbits should have a small chance to drop a big price. => motivates everyone to hunt them, every player has the same chance to get a good drop.
3)Rabbits should have a small chance to turn in RaidBoss-like mobs => adds danger and risk

Edit. A very good reward, not ruining the market , would be a L2-day scrollwith active skills from certain classes (instead of the buffs) . For example a nukerscroll that lets u nuke for an hour. I would be really excited to see my dwarf nuke, as a preview for the subclass thats so far away.
Heh yeah that one was pretty bad. An extremely small amount of people that could benefit, and only if they ALSO found the counterpart, what with all the... uncooperative players could just leave you screwed.

It's a good idea, the reward that allows you to use a certain skill.. but the thoughts of how that would be abused make me more than a little nervous. LOL

Necro with UD and UE anyone?? ughhh
I liked Bashtal's labour event so far the most.
Through the duration of this event I saw and killed 3 rabbits. All 3 rabbits popped in areas which I had been grinding. Seemed like after I'd killed a certain amount of the same mobs in the same area... viola bunny. *shrug* Maybe I was just lucky.
Had I not found any bunnies at all I probably wouldn't have cared. In any case, that's 30k SP more than I would have had this event not been run.

It's odd to me how, in all the years of MMOGs that have now past, people still haven't figured out that EVENT does not mean everyone and their grandma's sister gets millions of ubarstoofs. Never has.

Wait I take that back... EQ's halloween event did turn into that but by the time it did the ubarstoofs you would get weren't so ubar any more.

It was the players trying to craft their gear without relying on scamming, RMT or constant delevelling of multiple dwarves and whose manor profits got yanked out from under them

How did it get yanked out from under them? I don't know a single person that you describe that thought those events were bad.

Well, ok, except for one, because he ran enchant scrolls. But after a quick lesson from me, he just bought the now cheaper blank scrolls, waited a bit and made a killing later selling both his old scrolls and the event scrolls. People enchant = people needing more enchants.

an SP scroll that I will up-charge an ebayer for when the event is over

Well, someone has to be extraordniary dumb to pay more than a few pennies for a 5000 SP scroll.

And people would also cringe if the market got flooded with them again, because for some it's the way they pay for their SS.

And somehow an event making them millions won't pay for it? If they're that enterprising, then they can easily make alot of money both ways.

It's odd to me how, in all the years of MMOGs that have now past, people still haven't figured out that EVENT does not mean everyone and their grandma's sister gets millions of ubarstoofs. Never has.

Actually from the earliest annals of UO and onwards, serverwide events has usually been very profitable in one form or another.

Fun is also a factor, but seriously, Lineage 2 lacks the depth and the type of players that really would want that kind of stuff. I mean if you're into that kind of stuff, then there are LOTS of quests in the game that actually works like mini-events in themselves.

Totally agree. It's not really the reward I am whinging about. I wouldn't mind a large chunk of exp and an SP scroll or two, it's the fact that I haven't seen a **** rabbit at all, despite playing 5-8 hours (sometimes more) a day throughout the event. The spawn rate is just far too low.

For me, and I'm sure there are other players in the same position, this event was a non-event and may as well have not happened
