Hello :)
Recently, after 15 levels of saving and selling out half of my warehouse contents I was able to throw out event Bastard and buy Revo. I was really happy 'cause I thought that over half more patk will make some change to hunting, so I went to my usual Stakato Workers spawn and begun. I quickly found out that something isn't right here. I counted ss usage and discovered that revo is burning avg. 18 ss while bastard only 16. Difference in 2 hits to kill doesn't matter to me, so wth is going on? Am I doing something wrong or just made a crappiest deal in my life?
it wasnt a bad deal. in your "test" you might have had some bad luck with crits. eventually killspeed is all, and even if you would be using 2 more dss you should still be MAKINg money and now faster then before to even it out
Revo is using 3 dss for a shot. Normally it wouldn't bother me, but I make the same amount of adena while killing with bastard. So practically now I earn less, and that's what bothers me alot... I didn't spend my cash to loose it even more on additional ss. :)
When you switch from a mid-range 2ss weapon to a top range 3ss weapon you are essentially trading adena for experience. If you use shots, that is.
If you use shots, you shot cost went up 50% while your exp will have gone up a much smaller %, as you noticed. Yes, you are killing faster but at a substiantially increased adena cost.
If you don't use shots then your damage output went up by the % of the increased patk while your cost did not change, you get a net increase in exp at no adena cost. Of course, if you don't use shots in the first place then you are probably both patient (a virtue) and rich (from not buying shots).
My advice, admittedly non-conventional, would be to get the best mid-range D (then C) weapons to get your maximum experience per adena spent on shots. I did a numberical analysis showing all this some time back, may still be posted here somewheres.
As an aside, much of the accepted wisdom of the game, such as having 'Top Weapon for Grade', is often flawed in subtle ways like shown above.
Having to have top wep of each grade is not a must. In pve it doesn't matter to much depending on your play stile. The only reason most people only go for top wep for thier grade is because of pvp. Because most of the time you can do just fine with mid to even low grade weps in your grade lvl.
It also has to do with economy. Once you get to B grade and above all weps have to be crafted. Most people only craft top grade weps. Also I believe since C2 the mindset for everyone and advise to new players has always been that you need top wep for your grade. The game design is just fine for all the wep of each grade. Some times you can skip a grade without updating your wep depending on class. Take a look at homu for example, I couldn't tell you how many people in thier 70's still use a C grade wep OED of course.
Then there is the other point you made about killing and getting less adena but spamming more SS. Best advice I can give you is to kill every mob you come across in your lvl range. Find the one that drops the most adena with the least jhits to kill. Thats where you make your adena. I hunt mostly green mobs most of the time. They are easier to kill usually give same adena as whites and and same xp most of the time. Once you find the best mob for your lvl farm them until they turn light blue. Then move on to the next mob.
Just remember one thing. Never hunt mobs because of what they can drop. The chances are so rare to get the drop 99% of the time you will out lvl whatever it is you are trying to get.
Well... The Patk of the SoRev is 79 versus 51 for the Bastard Sword, an increase of 54.9%. SoulShot usage is up 50%, but you should be killing the mob in 64.6% of the time. These number should work out to about the same number of SS. Watch the mobs health bar, if it is real low just before the last hit, don't use SS on that hit. When I get a mob fairly low, I stop using SS, and just whack it normally.
If you can upgrade your SoRev to an Elven Long Sword, you still have 3 SS/hit, but the Patk is 80% higher than the Bastard Sword. Should kill the mob in 55% of the time. That would solve your SS usage problem too.
if thats the case you can turn off SS sometimes and come out with more xp and adena
Well I guess it's back to 'repeatedly smash F3 key while killing' for me :)

That would mean Bastard :) As much as I want, I can't go back to it. I still have him in backpack, but I have to get used to revo, since I will use it 'till my late 4x [I don't think I could afford anything better any sooner :)].

Right now I'm hunting Stakato workers - they're green to me and they die pretty quick. But I noticed that after turning green they drop smaller amount of adena than they did when being white... So it's time for me to find a new mob :)

I never do that :) It's better to have a random surprise drop that maybe useful, than waste a ton of time and money on something that never drops :)
This is very likely your imagination, as patch notes and my personal experience indicate you get full loot from green monsters.
My imagination tells me I never got less than 330a while they were white, and now it starts 234a :p I know it sounds stupid but it's true :) But if it's said in patch notes, I'm guessing all the good loot was given to me as I started to hunt 'em and now it's some tablescraps :)

well anothing to think about is every mob has a certain adena drop range. The mobs you hunt could have a adena range of 234-330. From my experience you can go through a period where you only get the minimum from the mobs then it will change again. The mobs I hunt now drop anywhere from 1200-2200 avarage drop per mob is about 1500. It goes up and down but also have to figure in the mobs that dont drop any adena.
