Quick question about /target command

Player Questions Started Last reply 8 posts
Sometimes sellers that have things I am interested in (in busy market areas) will !shout "/target me!"

So, I do. Sometimes it seems to work, sometimes it doesn't.

Like, say someone (making up the name here) named "AAAA" has something I want.

I type:

/target AAAA

Correct?

It seems like sometimes I'll see the person's info bar pop up and I can shop (even if I can't 'see' them), other times it doesn't?

Can someone make targeting totally clear to me?
You'll need to be within a certain range. Once you have someone targeted you'll see a dot on your compass-thing so you know where to find him/her.
Ah, so it is limited (range-wise). Thanks a ton for replying, Oxin.
I dont know if you knew this, but parties are different from my experience anyway. You can be in dion and someone else in giran, if you type /invite AAAA he will still get the party invitation. I dont think theres a range for that.
no, no range on party and friend invites.
Players names have no spaces, but mobs/NPCs often do. To target those folks you need to use brackets.

To target the NPC named 'Demented Dwarf' you would type:

/target Angdil

No, wait... it's:

/target [Demented Dwarf]
No, you don't need brackets for that.

I never had trouble targetting NPCs with spaces in their names. But to make sure, I just logged in to test.
I typed /target priest of dawn and voila, I had him on target

perhaps in some previous chronicle it was like that?
Thank you very much, everyone, for clearing this up for me.

I really appreciate it!
