Spellhowler weapon

I have a lvl 48 SH, and I don't know what b grade weapon to buy. I already have avadon equipment and I have + 4 WIT, + 4 INT tattos. If I buy a sword of Valhalla with Acumen I'm afraid to be too fast that my mp is gone in no time. I was thinking of a weapon with Mana up but can't find a b grad weapon with it on. What should I do?
I always wonder how such a clueless person can obtain such gear... But...
this below is amazing quote

"Valhalla with Acumen I'm afraid to be too fast that my mp is gone in no time."

SH always, and I mean always, benefits from faster casting. It's called b2m and you will never run into mp issues w/ faster casting. No B grade has mana up anyways.
Why in the world would you want Mana Up on a Spell Howler?!?
I find it amaizing to be judged so fast. Ok, I do know about b2m, but the effect of it is not that great. Therefore I wanted to get faster mp generation and/or more mp. So that is why I needed help.

BtM effect is "not that great"? Please tell me at least you walk when you hunt. <.<;; Mana up does not increase your regeneration. It just makes you sit longer - it's good for buffers with tight MP pool, elemental summoners and healers that are trying to push past two buff cycles on the same MP bar or somethign like that only.

It's also decent for raids - but then, you should have an ES and a recharger in your group at raids.

Well, Acumen does not make you spend more mp, it just makes you spend the mp faster. So, if anything, it gives you more exp/hour, because you spend less time using up the mp, so you can regen sooner :)
BtMBtMBtM. It actually gives you MORE MP.
To OP!!

I would stick with a C-grade weapon until A grade for now. Get maybe, if u can, a +5 or better Sword of Whispering death with Magic power as SA. I know a few friend SH that used this setup all the way into there 60's. Work prety good.

SH hit hard, so why not make them hit even harder with that great SA. It will cost you a bit more MP per skill but with ur BTM, it will not show. Thrust me, my friends have nver complained with this setup yet.

In the A grade weapons, u can decide to go the same thing with elemental or SOM. But you can decide that once you get there :P

Altho yes SOV with be good for speed, i dont really think an SH needs this type of weapon, not from what ive seen so far.

Go with your strenghts OP.

Cheers!!

PS SOV is very very expensive and for an SH, duno if its worth it, invest that money in a +5 or better weapon, you might appreciate that more...

exactly, the more cast speed you have, the more often you can cast btm. I have less downtime spamming greater magic haste pots on my SH, simple because BTM refreshes much faster.
I'd get demon set for PVE and use the SOV with acumen for your weapon. Use the avadon for pvp/sieges. Don't bother with the crap SA's on the SoWD.

BTW my SH is only 41 but I've been playing the game a while so here is her gear:

Demon set
+7 homu with acumen
+4WIT
+4 INT
+4 CON

Hehe, looks exactly like what I started my sub sorc out with. Except that I only had a +6 homu/acumen :)
Thank you for your replies. I will keep my homu with Acumen a bit longer. Then I migh change to a SoV with Acumen if i can afford it .
goodluck, the price on 100% rec has gone up a ton since c4, when it got the acumen SA ><
My bishop is using a SoV with acumen, got it for 28 mill and put the SA on myself. Not too bad :) So once I hit 52 the SH will use that. And still in demon.
yeah, well now the rec on lionna goes for more than that.although I think that no one will buy it there, but I have seen the 100% rec for 30m.
I have a SH friend who duos with a bishop a lot. SH kills, Bishops heals, SH body2mind, and they do this for hours without stopping.

SH: fire, fire, fire B2M B2M
Bishop: greater heal
SH: fire fire fire B2M B2M
Bishop: greater heal

Repeat every 20 seconds for four hours

Sometimes they have a third party member who does nothing but pick up stuff.
ooooo
aside acu2, zerk1 bishop is just a waste. (doesnt even have good root)

SH has cld, and real butt kick drain (+later dark vortex)
if you need heal on a SH in normal circumstance you are doing extremly bad.
A bishop still has acumen2 which is "freer" than pots, conc2, shield2, ww2, and don't forget body of avatar. I give myself about 1k more hp with that.

They are still not a good choice as a duo with a SH but with BtM a heal works as a form of recharge so why not.
If the bishop is contributing the heal MP rather than the SH, he doesn't have to waste it on CLD and/or vamp claw. ;)

It's not the ideal healer duo (that would be with an SE), but it works fair enough. The Bishop can also provide valueable last second heal when something goes wrong with C:DL. xD

PS: Ellie, any idea how much the difference between zerk1/acumen2 and zerk2/acumen3 is, in felt terms?
Not sure, my nuker and bishop are on the same account so I can't group them to see. It's hard to get a random bishop to duo with but I can try sometime.. heh.
Ellie and I have the same set-up. I have demon, same tats, 2 SH (one subbed, one alt)

The difference in acu3/zerk2 vs acu2/zerk1 is felt, yes. From my experiences, something always goes wrong in an SH's life. They always get stunned, spawned on or ********ed from socials depending on the mobs they hunt. A bishop is a good friend to have.

For a weapon, I have a ghouls staff with mp up. I know this isn't the best weapon for a SH, but my matck on the weapon is 144. I would need a +8Homo to rival this thing, and I am not interested in buying it just for the acumen.

On my sub, I am in the upper 50's and with my bts3 from my prophet, I have 2500 mp. That takes me 10 minutes to spam nukes out, never B2M.

When I am in a group and don't have my buffers (preferred style of levelling) the extra mp doesn't really matter one way or another. At the same time, acumen wouldn't matter either as my job in the group is to dd, not tank or solo.

Basically go with whatever weapon you are comfortable with. I have tried both, and I prefer the MP up from simply being able to use it on both my main and sub. B grade really isn't super important to obtain, as you can get to 61 with c pretty easily.
>>A bishop still has acumen2 which is "freer" than pots, conc2, shield2, ww2,
SH has conc2 and dont tell 20mp matters, difference between shld1 and 2 is neglectable. SH will walk and haste (<1k5a) is plenty.
SoES for btb5 will be usually better than BoA.

Bishop is just a weight.
Robes will be up to you, your personal taste, and the mob you're hunting. I used Karmian through level 56, when I finally got Avadon. AT 67 now, I'm still in Avadon, but I keep a set of Zubei around just for kicks. I'm gradually piecing together my Dark Crystal set, but if I don't get lucky with the helmet craft, I'll stick with B grade robes. Plenty of others levelled to 75+ in B grade long before there was A grade robes. I'll do the same.

As for the weapon, you need something with Acumen. Sure, it is possible to level with mana up, but it's not nearly as fun. Not only that, as you increase in levels, you'll encounter faster more social mobs that love to stun, shock, sleep, paralyze you. With an Acumen weapon, any robe with casting speed increase, you won't have to worry about getting touched. You'll usually be able to cast sleep long before the mobs can land it's specials.

As mentioned, walk when you hunt and use death spike (unless you are fighting dark resistant mobs), body to mind and corpse life drain as you go. You will be surprised how quickly you xp with little down time.

By the way, I hope you also have your +4 Con dye. That gives you more HP for various applications. Good luck.
Yes a bishop is dead weight with a SH, no two ways about it. But some people are just kind.. heh.
>>But some people are just kind.
agreed. as SH i dont mind tagging even w/ SwS...
Finally hit lvl 52 last night. I was duoing with my little SO for empower lvl 1 and it worked fine. Since the SO was on a friends account I couldn't use it for for the entire time. So i went over to using b2m and corps life drain, and I could basically hunt like that forever :). Now I will probably continue to use my homu with acumen until I hit a grade. Thanks alot ppl for you remarks!

Well, I tend to duo with a clannie bish quite a bit and I would never call him dead weight. Always nice to have around. Sure, probably a worse fit then a SE or even an EE but maybe better then any other class.
The thing is, unless you spam bones (which I can't afford - if you can - more power to you), you WILL have mana issues. B2M consumes a ton of hp, and while yes, you can recover it fairly easilly - it costs additional MP (28 more then Hurricane on my level). Without Emp one bsp Vampiric Claw is enough to cover about 2 B2M (with emp: 3 and rarely fails, so with a SE it becomes much more efficient overall). Somehow drains also seem to fail way more then all the other nukes, so damage and hp restored is halved somewhat frequently. In the end you gain some MP, but then use some to get the hp back. You gain significantly more then loose, but it's not a WIN-WIN process and you run out of mana - eventually (again, unless you are rich and spamming cursed bones + pots). Or do as I do, when I solo, start hunting veeery slooowly.

And with a bishop there to heal you, you don't waist any mana on health regen, you're faster with zerk (I don't use the greater pots), deal a bit more damage (not much though) and are much safer. And as someone has written, for a SH somehow it is always likely that something will go wrong.
Also the BoA is AWESOME for CDL. It acts as a buffer of some sort, which allows you to keep one-shooting stuff while you have twice the hp you could have without it. For me without BoA one-shotting stuff starts to fail around 200-250 hp and I have to wait till I regen 330 to hit B2M. Now with BoA I can still one stot stuff at 400-450 hp (much safer too :P). And when something goes wrong he's an expert lifesaver and when it has gotten seriosly wrong... well, 1% loss +any potential drops saved is much better then 4% loss +risk of loosing equip.
I almost never go out hunt CDL style without my Bishop buddy.
Ok, but having a high level bishop I'm telling you, not having empower nor recharges or higher levels of shield makes them dead last choice to duo with (behind SE and EE).
Not argueing with that. Just making a point that a bishop is also a great asset, even for a duo, much moreso for a large party.
