I bought myself a GTC the other day, and on the back of the box it said it has a 14-Day Free Trial code inside. I've got a friend that has been interested in trying the game, so I gave him the code, he made an account, but he's saying he can't login and that it's asking him for a credit card to sign-up so he can play.
If he puts his CC card info on here, will he get charged and has the 14-day Free Trial expired, or will it just take his CC for when the trial ends?
the code requires a payment. once payment is received, he gets 14 days tacked on free.
Wrong, its a bit goofy but this is how it works.
1) Setup a new account using the 'free' code
2) Setup requires a 'payment' method. aka Credit card.
3) Setup charges the account for the 'free time'
4) Setup "Rebates" the account for the same amount it just charged you.
5) You now have a 'free trial' account for Lineage 2
So essentialy, you buy a 'trial' period and NCNA gives you your money back but still lets you play.
It's odd, but this was how they did it way back when the game first went retail, and I had a pre-order code. If you buy the game its the same way. You have to have a payment method (CC or Time Card) to activate, but you still get a 60 days even if you never set the account up to subscribe. (30 days for the game itself (account) and 30 free days extra)
Just make sure that the auto-renew checkbox is off, (Should be by default) and NC will never actually charge you until you decide you want to renew that account.
