As i see so many people getting leveled by other players in catacombs..
sitting next to the room just close enough for xp but out of harms way.
I see everyone doing it; people with clan tags, big allys, so it seems to me that people dont really care.
Im not sure if its against the EULA or not but i dont think its enforced if so.
So what to the people of NA or Europe think. is this a legit way of getting to a high level?
Plz keep it about the fact, about ppl getting xp by others and not any other subjects that are really close.
From my understanding, it's not against EULA unless you know they're botting or something (which PLing agency isn't, who knows).
Is it legit even if it's legal? No, most definitely not. I'm not impressed when I find a lvl 78/78/78 that's PLed. It's like... wow, you paid money to get glory! Let's write a gigantic 'L' on your forehead now!
If that's real people helping real people then it's totaly fine with me. Clan powereleving it's future OL, bish, or who ever. Or just helping a reroled clanie.

True, in some extent. I remember when I was still a n00b in my clan (in one of the 2 bigger alliances in Teon at that time), we used to have AOE lvling all the time (see Tannor Canyon for details :)). We n00bs loved it, it's a really good way of getting some lvls fast. But that is completely different from people getting a free ride. Well, they're gonna be just some 78/78/78 lvl n00bs when they grow up... What kind of respect can they get? Plz :)
If someone offered to power level me, I would take it. So i'm gunna have to say i dont have a problem with it. I'm just kinda jelous I dont get any free levels.
the only problem becomes when a GM decides to scan a suspected bottier. and if a player is afk in that party: well just too bad, prepare to make lot of phone call to austin texas nc office. other than that enjoy yourselves.
ps. if u get banned for getting powerleveled by bots, its more than likely that it was illegal move on your own... i love stupid people.

I feel the same way. :o I'm feel so dirty... :(
Levels are like sex. Poeple just love it/them. Most people will brag about these figures, mostly guys tho.
I don't care too much if others do it. They play the game how they wish.
Personally, I have already and will continue to turn down offers of, well intentioned, people power leveling me. I don't want it. I am playing this game for the challenge and fun to be able to say "I did it!" I also play WoW, which I very much enjoy. I bring that up because WoW and L2 are pretty much complete opposites on game design as you can get but I enjoy both. One of the main reasons I started playing L2 was hearing of its challenge. My biggest complaint (and probably one of only two or three) with WoW was that I leveled up too quickly. I saw L2 as a chance to play a game that lasted a long time.
To me, if I got power leveled I don't know how I'd feel I accomplished anything with my character. However long I play this game and however high I get I want to be able to look back and feel I earned it.
That said and done, when I get around to playing some of my alts, I don't know how I'll feel and again, I am not saying everyone must have my outlook, either. Although, if someone expects me to be impressed that they're high level when they got powerleveled, I won't be.
So to sum up: I personally don't see the point in being powerleveled, except possibly for an alt, as from my point of view, it erases a big part of what makes this game L2.

Agree to that the so called 'Glory' of getting is not as much as it would be if i did not powerlevel

Dont worry about it.. *Hands Some Soap*

Personally I'd like to think that I have a will strong enough to turn down pleveling offer, but... I'm playing PK, going to be SK, and with normal leveling being hard enough at this time, I think dark side of me would take over and I'd probably agree to it :) But I'll never agree to be powerleveled by somebody who's making profit out of it - this is just plain wrong... As for my opinion on others getting/giving powerleveling - as long they're not bots I'm not concerned - I just can't imagine how elders/bishops could reach higher level without it :) (yup I have poor imagination )
ANY AFK LEVELLING SHOULD BE BANNED I'm not talking about short afk breaks. Anyone that knowingly joins a party and leaves the computer for an extended period of time ( to me, anything over a buffround is extended) is just plain ******ed. I hold no respect for people that can't work for their own levels. These are the same people that want to do nothing but PVP when they are at their keyboard because they didn't earn the experience, so what would they care if they die a few times.
I agree that you won't ever catch them all, but the ones that are identified, will never be allowed in my clan. Or my parties for that matter.
Could you define 'powerleveling' a bit?
Obviously if you take a lvl 15 toon along with a very nerfed lvl 52+ into a cata and leave the 15 toon sitting....that seems to fit a perception of powerleveling.
What about if a clan takes a new member 4-5 levels below their average into a cata--a cata that the new guy normally couldn't do...the new guy participates in group, he/she is in their swinging on mobs.....is that being 'powerleveled'?
If a lvl 30 takes a level 20 into NOS and the 20 is a support toon--healer for instance, is that powerleveling?
As for is it 'okay'?....i want to know what i'm either praising/defending or condemning first.
With the general values displayed by many in this game...lmao....i'd have an expectation that 80% of posters will condemn powerleveling and that 50% of those posters will/have participated in it!
Personally, I'm not sure where the line is drawn in the definition.
i consider plvling to be done by a farmer or something that is paid for it
im assuming noone has a problem with low lvl clanners hanging around for the adena and xp
There is absolutley nothing wrong in my eyes if my clannie rerolls and tags along with me for exp. As long as he is at his keyboard chatting or using lvl1 heal/bleeds skills, picking up loot. At least he is actively playing the game still. Leaving the computer for more than 20 mins and staying in party to me is pure wrong.
Powerlvling from botters: bad
Powerlvling for real cash: bad
Powerlvling for adena: fine
Could open some markets for higher players :p
But the best thing is, gettin lvled just to lvl, somehow priceless lol. Its long ago, as there where players inside cruma, i even got paid to lvl once. I was there with my former nuker-main, saw some asian players and just asked for buffs. What i got was a partyinvite ^_^ (well, drop was finders keepers, but adena is ever shared, i wasnt asked to pay back :) ) At first i lvled normaly with em, then oom i went regen and they kept fightin. After i was full again i just kept sittin and no1 cared, they were sooo happy to lvl slower due to one xp leecher more lol. But these days, all asian partys r ever full, no way to find a spot in it
The problem with the topic is that there are two sides of it.
The ingame side... most posts here were about it. Nothing really wrong about it, a leacher usually means slower progress for the party as a whole, so when they decide to take one or more in for whatever reason that's cool, as long as the game machanics are not exploited.
But there is still the out of game part, aka secondary market. I despise the whole secondary market with a passion, so all powerleveling that comes from there as well, for reasons that have been thoroughly discussed in numerous other posts.
The problem comes here: The interacting with the secondary market is a bannable offense, however the only side the GMs are able and allowed to check is the ingame side... and if the botters aren't all too dumb it's nigh impossible to tell a legit leech from an ebay-driven leech. All action against illegals would also hit the legals to a certain extend, or require a lot of resources.
As for people getting powerleveled in general... my personal opinion is they miss a lot of content and lose the opportunity to earn anything ingame. However that's probably hard to recognize when you're a lonely low level looking up to your 6x-ish friends and hearing about all the oh so awesome endgame content... the sad reality is... the game doesn't change all that much between lvl 40 and 75. :p So what's to be earned, really.
I think powerlevelling is bad for several reasons.
If we are in the game to have fun, you miss the fun when you get levelled up.
There is fun (a lot of it) available at ALL levels. The Type A Personality based 'rush to higher levels' is foolish. By rushing to level 20, 30, 50, 70...content, you miss most of the content in the game. Thus, people who level up fast are sabatoging their own enjoyment of the game. Silly indeed!
With regards to the methods of powerlevelling that break the EULA. Anything accomplished or owned by someone who cheated is tainted...all the accomplishments are tainted because of the advantages gained from cheating.
If I see a level 23 in mismatched armor who has been in game six weeks...I respect them because they earned what they have. If I see the Lord of Aden Castle, a lvl 78 Hero who cheated, I despise them as total scum and know that everyone is laughing at him behind his back. The only people he impresses are fools and himself, and he impresses himself because he is a fool.
I would contend that I know the level 20 to 40 content probably about as good as anyone. I've leveled several characters slowly through it. I also, recently have leveled some very fast.
I think some of it depends on where you are at in the game.
It's not really wrong to stay in your party and step away from the computer for 20 minutes LOL I was leveling and active in branded on my Prophet with 5 of my other clan members and I told them I had to step away for 20 minutes b/c I had to go pick my car up quickly and they had no problem with that! It really depends on the people your grouped with if they say well we will expell you form party till you get back thats fine! But I mean if someone tells the group they are stepping away to go to the bathroom or get something to eat quickly or anything like that it's really not a problem as long as they come back and as long as they stat how long they might take and tell the group then really it's up to the group to decide to keep them or expell them! :) and if it was me and a clan member had to go do something quickly well I would keep them in group I would never kick a clan member :)

Happened to me once. My former CL was powerlevelling an alt. without informing anyone of that fact. He requested members to appear for mandatory "clan hunts", but would sit his alt in a safe hallway while everyone else XP'ed. Being a person that solos most of the time, I'm very much aware of how much slower it is to xp in groups. I hate it. I noticed the deadweight after the first 30 minutes and asked if we should drop the character from the group. Everyone else thought we should, but the CL refused, but didn't say why. At least not to my content. I tried to talk to him in pm, but he didn't offer any intelligent response, so I dropped party immediately. Later that evening he pm'd me to explain that he was levelling his alt. I dropped the clan after his tiresome explanation.
I'm not against powerlevel. I am against the exploitation of my kindness and hard work.
my 2nd account i did 14-30 in 5 hours and 30-35 in 2 more hours.... nothing wrong with powerlvling imo as long as you aren't botting or paying with irl $ to receive powerlvling. If you pay with adena/ebayed adena that's fine with me... (of course the act of ebaying is NOT fine with me, but buying powerlvling with it is no worse than buying a homu with it.)
if their all the same clan then its most likeyl that their helping a reroll or a lowwbie int there clan wehn Im on my dwarf I have a freind that joins me as I aoe to pwlvl them so that they can catch up with the rest of prophets clanmates jsut depends ont he situation really
I have always thought its all good so long as every aspect is taken care of IG. E.G. Rich guy who didn't ebay pays people to pl alts/main, or threatens people who PL him, or makes friends who pl him for free. Don't see whats wrong if it is all taken care of IG with out of game things never factoring in. Hell if I pulled in enough adena weekly and knew someone who would, I would have probably no issues getting alts power leveled. But my main, seems like it would take away from the experience, I just want tons of alts to play around with in high level areas ^^
PL for RL cash = absolutely not okay
PL for adena = hmm ok then.. As long as it's not by farmers and/or bots.
PL by friends (or yourself - for instance using big boom) = I don't have a problem with this, really.
But regardless, my respect for the person's achievements diminish with every level not earned.
If it's alts or buffers, I don't care so much (refer to the first 3 lines in my post).
As a WS I spent many hours spamming for groups, since soloing a WS is not much faster XP than sitting.
To make my future subclass leveling go faster I boomed a bishop, prophet, and SE to 40. Even though they are 30 levels below my main, they can provide enough healing to keep a party going, or remove paralysis when I 2-box in AL.
I dont really see a problem with this sort of power-leveling. I have paid my dues on my main. It is time to make life a little easier with my own healer/buffer.
hmm, big boom work that great now? Wanted to start dual boxing, but not sure I want to deal with the 1-4x/5x grind on yet another character. +++Legit PL tips :)
i have been playing this game for what, 9 months...i have characters above 60 but none have gotten any to 70+ yet so i cant say i meet your criteria...but i can say this...i have NEVER experienced this so-called "grind". the game is not about xp, its not about levels or skills, its about interacting with other people, good and bad. my clannies and friends get together and hang out while we kill stuff, we enjoy each others company, make fun of each other, and explore the world together. xp is a side effect of that adventure. you shouldnt even look at the bar; a watched clock does not turn. it is possible that maybe you are playing a class that does not get much action. maybe you havent been on a real dungeon crawl and never do quests unless you need to. in that case, /reroll ftw.

I've noticed more people mooching "sit in the hall" exp from farmers since they made it so you have to accept a rez. There was a fear (and for good reason) that a farmer group would aoe mob kilrezkillrezkillrez an afk party member before. The farmers use finders-keepers on drops and spoils, so some of them will let you join so you'll leave them alone. (no I've not done it, although I've been tempted too with my BH to get him to high levels, because he's retired anyway)
I think its a broke game feature.
IMO, dark red mobs should give 0 xp
i don't think this is a good idea. cause i party wit lvl 70+ people most of the mobs i fight are dark red. so i don't think this is a good idea, causee then i would have to solo 100% of the time instead of 95% :)
but as to powerlvling....i think its fine, just makes me a little jelous cause i can't get powerlvled :(, and i'm not paying someone to do it for me. i just need 4 lvls to hit 70 :)
who's going to help me?????
:p

I basically said the same thing. Clannies will tell me how long they will be gone. I ask them to leave the group and save their spot. Getting up for a few minutes is fine, but just going afk for more than a buffround...you are now leeching. I think this topic jumped up right after I grouped in a pick up group in TOI. One of the orcs went afk and was afing on 9th, without telling anyone. Of course they lost af, so we were stuck in a dilemna. After 20 minutes, I told the party leder to either boot, or get another healer. The orc miraculously came back.
