Just started playing again and got myself a +3 claymore to xp grind with my human warrior. *Alot* of people have been telling me that +3 duals are > then a +3 2hander, even tho they have the same p.atk.
As a former WoW player, I tend to go for slower speed as it seems more benefitial when it comes to pvp(especially when people try to kite).
So my question is, dmg wise, is there a difference between 2h/ duals?
Not realy, duals do 2 half-hits with twice the chance to miss, but only miss with one blade, therefore for half of damage. Same goes for criticals. Two-handers have full misses and full power crticals.
Benefits of duals: best D duals are cheaper then best 2hander. All the way to a grade you can craft duals for 100% chance, all other A wearpons have 60% chance. Higher chance to interupt casting of the enemy (not shure about this one).
Benefits of 2hander: sword/blunt skills and masteries work with it. In C grade and up no need to owerenchant (risk of destroing wearpon) while puting in SA. Also, focus SA on 2handers adds more points then on duals of a same grade.
Another important difference is looks. On my shamy duals look like if she is truing to cut of her head with giant sissors, for example.
Actually... top D Duals have 107 p.atk while top D two-hander (Claymore) has 112 p.atk.
So when you +3 both, Claymore still has 5 p.atk more.
And on top of that two-handers have much better soulshot management.
In the end if you do not have dual masteries you will alwawy come out on top with two-handers.
Your claymore actually has more PAtk than the duals - don't listen to those who tell you otherwise.
Both weapon types have the same rate of miss/crit over time - anyone who tells you "twice the chance to crit" or "twice the chance to miss" hasn't taken the time to think it through. The only relevant subject here is SS use - duals will consume a full SS charge when you miss with one blade, which is not cool for mages since they miss a lot - but not too relevant for warriors.
Twohanders have better SAs than duals for C Grade, but there are higher-base-damage duals available in B than in C Grade.
In D Grade, the claymore is superior to 107's in all aspects except mage interruption.
Yes, economically too. Because most people by now have realised that 107's aren't a good choice, and you can turn the claymore into anything and sell it when you're done with it, usually for a profit if you were clever about getting it.

That half-krit and half-miss is more psycological thing for me i want to have full power krits, just bigger numbers look nicer ;). And then comes the ss usage on misses. Guess I would of had been more clear on that.
I have a lvl 38 Pallus Knight and have a +8 Claymore as well as +8 D duals. I like the duals just for cool factor but for grinding I use the Claymore....it simply hits harder and kills faster and uses a LOT less soul shots.

Quoted to re-emphasize that all weapon masteries are generic at D grade. True Dual Weapon Masteries are character class specific and begin at C grade.
So basically at your level, just pick the weapon with the best p.atk, if SS consumption is not an issue...and if no one has yet convinced you that you're better off with a Mith Dagger for fastest attack speed with higher natural crit rates. :D
