New to the game and going crazy!

Player Questions Started Last reply 30 posts
Well.. hi guys! xD
Im new to L2, started a few days ago. Currently, lvl 24 human warrior on the Teon Server.
My question is..
HOW IN THE WORLD DO I MAKE MONEY IN THIS GAME?! Cause.. i can barely make enough for lesser pots and soulshots. My gear is crappy NG and same to weapon. I do all the quests i can but the rewards dont even pay off for the pots/soulshots i use while doing them.
So.. anyone got any tips?
Thanks...
The short answer to 'how do I make money?' at your level is................

exactly opposite of the way you've been playing the game so far :)

1. Do not chase the next level--it will come. It is seldom possible in this game to BOTH level up quickly AND earn adena. The structure of the game is somewhat either/or.
2. If you want to make money--do the quests below your level that involve green and lightblue mobs--over and over.
3. Grind mobs that are generally light blue--you can kill them without soulshot.
4. Slow down and rest more--find patience, read a book while sitting, take up another hobby while HP regens--don't get addicted to healing pots.
5. When poss. do multiple quests that have mobs in same vicinity. Run there instead of porting. Run back instead of using SOE. Don't use expensive potions of alacrity and haste if possible. Pair with a healer if one is willing. All of these things MAY decrease expenses.
6. When u decide you want to level--go to necrop of sacrifice (paired/grouped if poss) and don't expect to make too much adena--you'll get exp more efficiently than hunting out on the plains.
7. Most important---"do not covet they neighbor's weapons and armors"! LOL--actually true though. My human knight at lvl 24 was wearing bronze no-grade and had a gladius still (because I didn't follow the rules above either).

Hope some of that helps. IMO they are SOME of the techniques for slowly building more money in game.
Good luck.
Very good tips from DrakXIV above. I just wanted to stress the fact that you can either grind XP or grind adena as a general rule. I try to vary it for some variety. The trick to adena is to find a nice place with easiesh mobs and preferably ones that you can get a repeatable quest for (there are many quests that simply ask you to "kill xyz" and for each quest drop you get from those mobs you get some money back from the NPC).

The next trick is patience. Find a nice slow rate, DO NOT use soulshots and DO NOT use heal pots. You'll use one of your heal skills to heal yourself and basically learn to manage your mana vs health. You do this and money will happen but just don't worry about XP when you're doing this. I like to do a few nights of adena grinding followed by an exciting night of raid boss groups.

Oh, also, don't be afraid to run between towns; it'll take a few more minutes but paying 4-10k adena per port adds up VERY quickly.

Finally, as Drak said, don't be in a hurry to level in this game, just have fun killing mobs, working on quests, finding new friends, RPing whatever. You'll either drive yourself batty or broke -- or both -- if you're always chasing that next level.

Hope that helps! Enjoy!
Ya good advises there... sadly I think I know where this story is going to end nevertheless.

Cal
A good tip as well is try to learn the manor system as well. I don't know it though so I can't help you there, I would know it if I started out in C2+ though.
Learn to manor, or make a few elven/dark elven characters with your no grade gear and get them to the level where they can do the good quest.

Use the base stock of money to play the market.

Not using soulshots is neither necessary nor advisable, IMHO.

PS: Caleria, I quit the game after level 25 because I couldn't figure out how to make money/the grind was too tough (C1). Look where I'm now. ^_~

Eeeek me too. Though where I am now isn't very admirable :p

Also, as suggested before, try learning the market and be creative about what could potentially make a lot of adena. That could have been formulated better but I'm feeling rather apathetic.

To make money for your next grade.

Don't use soulshots, any type of potions (including healing) potions, gatekeepers.

Do use the manor system and quest.

The best way to make money is to not level fast.
If you are manoring for a seed that does not give you enough money to make it so you earn more money per time using SS, it's time to switch gears - err, seeds. Or servers.
Wow so many replies :)
Ok, i did what Drak suggested and my adena started to SLOWLY go up, but its going up instead of down now so, thank you sooo much :):D:D
Also.. whats the manor system?
And.. i wasnt grinding for lvls xD I was just questing and ended up at lvl 24^^.
At any rate, thank you guys so much for the tips^^!
Talk to manor manager - they stand by funny carts inside all towns except dwarf/orc village. :) They have a full explanation of how it works - then buy like 20 seeds in or below your level range and try it out.
I'm reminded of a scene in The Matrix where Neo is introduced to the harsh realities of the "real" world. "Breathe, Neo, breathe!!!"

The early levels are a major shock to the system. But really if you're willing to put in the effort, you will be able to position yourself to make adena.

Let's assume for a minute that Raid group drops were scarce, Seven Signs didn't exist, adena grind groups were nonexistent, no Clans were looking to recruit and assist your specific class with carrots of D grade armor and powerlevels, there weren't any repeatable quests, and the manor system was broken beyond repair. How would you make adena?

Let me tell you what I would do to make adena. Delevel. You are level 24, but still in NG gear. I'd delevel to about 18 -19. I would not worry about earning the levels back quickly. Most folks that I know can go from level 1 - 40 in a matter of hours. Meek? Faint of heart?? Delevel anyway.

Secondly, I would make one long trip to Gludin to find out which mats are selling at a premium. There is almost always some high level person setting up an alt private shop to buy basic mats. You don't have to know the actual prices. If you see 2 or 3 dwarfs buying animal bones, that's a surefire sign that somewhere in Dion or Giran animal bones are in demand.

Once you have that information, I would take my level 24 character delevelled to 18 and find a green mob that drops the very mat that is in demand. You will not need SS when you hunt these mobs at this point. Take my word for it. Kill at will.

Farm that same mob for 3 levels -- until your sick of looking at them -- and then delevel and do it again. After the second delevel you should have more than enough mats to take to market... in Dion. Run as far as you can and then SOE between towns if you're really in a rush.

Will this get you rich quickly? Absolutely not. But the good thing about the early levels is that drop rates are as high as they will ever be. Not just for basic mats, but for complete armor and weapon drops. In no time at all your WH will be full of items that you can take to market. Keep doing this until you can afford your first D grade weapon. After that, you can start to consider other methods of making adena.

Lastly, it has to be said. I know it's discouraging to see ppl jump right into their D grade gear the minute they hit level 20, but you have to take this at your own pace. Eventually you will find your own rewards in this game. Keep your chin up.

remember, many of those are alt's or rerols and their gear is earned by higher level chars.
I don't see what the problem is. There should be a decent Clan waiting to happen. And i delevel like what....once a year? Big deal. But seriously thought, i'd try to make a Dwarf alt. From what i've heard, they make great money doing things.

they dont
dwarves dont make money its the ppl that play them that make money
Thank you all for the awesome feedbacks ^_^.
Whoever mentioned the manor system.. OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! Ive been manoring enku orcs for a while now and managed to collect 200 mythril ore.. some dude told me to save 1k and he will buy each for 2k adena.. THANK YOU ALL!!!!

Most folks that I know can go from level 1 - 40 in a matter of hours.

That simply isn't possible. Well, it depends on how you define 'a matter of hours', really.
Wow. Whoever said to delevel to make money...Don't.
There are much better ways to make money.
And i am glad to hear that you have discovered the main one, manor is your friend, it allows you to make very good money, whilst gaining levels and helping to pump matts into the econemy.
This way everybody wins.
There may be a little learning to be had as to selling back and all that, but once you have it all worked out, you will not only get rich but i find its a great way to keep your eyes off the XP bar.
Carefull what you are manoring though. everything will make you a profit, but the differences from one matt to another can be huge.
Bones and varnish are usualy a pretty safe bet if you can get your eyes on some.
Also unless you didn't realise it to start with, never sell matts to the store. stockpile them and make a trip to giren if posible, even afk buy stores will pay you at least double for them.
Bone on gustin sells for around 1400 adena atm, and the store will give you 75 for it.
But other then that make sure your having fun in the game, and i don't think delevleing is fun ^^

Bah. Wish Teon had inflated base mat prices like that. All we have currently is 8k SoPs and EWC that costs more than EWB >.>

I've seen it done. And by "a matter of hours" I mean in your basic work day. A former clanmate and I both re-rolled alts at about the same time. We were both level 5 that morning. I work 8 - 9 hour days, but he was off that day. When I got back home from the office, he was level 39.

It can be done.
How? Even with 76+ SE buffs, best possible equip and SS spam that seems impossible.

How? Even with 76+ SE buffs, best possible equip and SS spam that seems impossible.

The only way I can imagine it happening is if they were admitted to an AOE group that ran all day.
600 mythril ore! 400 till the bulk sale! *_* 2 mil adena.. *_*..
If it wasn't an AoE capable character itself - servitors.
The best way to make money is to play the marked, and leave afk shops on while you dont play.

As an example I triede to give one of my chars 1kk adena and see how much adena It could make within 14 days.
After 14 days I had 8kk on the test char :)
Yes it was intensive marked playing, but its not that complicated.

I only play the marked a little now, because all my chars has top grade equipment for all there representive grade.

For 2-3 weeks ago I did some marked playing once more .... started out with 62kk and within a little more then a week I had 88kk + some mats for like 5-7kk. So totally I earned 31kk-33kk within 1-1,5 week .... in pure profit :)

so once more.... dont invest ALL your money in equipment.... save some of it to invest in marked playing :)

The best part..... you dont need a high lvl dwarf to play the marked, just setup an lvl1 alt (dwarf to get the most shop slots) and let it work the marked while you sleep, see tv or what ever. By using an alt you also save time/money for transporting your main to the city to set up shops.

Good luck friend.
manor system is good but you will get bored or go insane if you do it long enough (i imagine most people choose the later) and its not nice in partys to take everyone elses drops. when you get tired of it, try rerolling a dwarf and making a scavy out of it to spoil and seed, then maybe delevel it depending on what mats you need (dont delevel your main thats just dumb). and make some elves and do all the begginner quests then transfer the money you made and delete them (talk to the adventure guild members to find all the monrey quests). you get 7 character slots for a reason. 6 alts can easily support your main, and if you do it right you only need one set of gear for all 6.
I've read and tried the Manor System in the village, and though I hear good stories for it, it comes off as confusing & difficult to me. Is there a simpler or easier way to explain it, as I have been trying to figure it out to make some money for quite some time now? When I hear or see people who have better equip & weapons, plus more money than I, who are lower levels, it becomes a bit embarrassing. Also, to the person who said to play the "Marked," can someone explain to me what that is exactly? Though I have been subscribed w/ L2 for several months, I have been on my own the entire way & am overall very new to the online game world, as L2 is my first & only, so any tips & clarifacations will be appreciated. Lastly, I know what PVP stands for but haven't quite got PVE? Thanks again to those who reply! Very serious about manor & making money tips...Thanx
PvE stands for normal mobkilling.

Playing the 'marked' (a typo I think - the person meant 'market') means buying low and selling high(er)...

The least risky way is to buy base mats (animal bone, iron ore and varnish are most in demand, since the high-level crafts need 1000's of these for 1 item), because they are low unit cost and so you can only buy as much as you can afford to start with and gradually increase the volume as you get more money. Also, unlike buying whole armour/weapon items for resale you won't ever get stuck with an unsalable 'white elephant'.

It is best to set up an afk buy-shop in Gludin, or perhaps Dion, and then when you have bought all you can afford walk to Giran (take the northern path, its safe even for low levels while the southern path leads through execution grounds, definitely not safe, lol). Set up sell shop in Giran. Check out the other sell shops first and see what the going rate is at the time on your server.

EG - at the moment on Bartz you can buy abone for 4-600 and sell for around 1000-1400, iron ore buy for 3-500 and sell for 7-900, etc.

When you have sold all your stock, and probably doubled your money, return to Gludin/Dion and repeat :)

If you manor, and play the market, and get yourself a dark elf and keep re-doing the good quests, and get your main into AC and collect badges, and avoid using ss/healing pots/porting fees wherever possible, then you will soon have enough for D grade.

Also, don't get hung up on having to get the top grade equipment straight off - and remember that quite a bit of D grade gear can be bought from the armour and weapons shops in Giran - much cheaper than buying from character's shops set up in Dion.

Good luck
