Drain health, life leech... ????

Simple question :P
Finally got life leech spellbook dopped by those @##[[]@@! fungus... but apart the different animation (ohhh 2 red globes insted of one! -no jokes plz :P- ) can't tell if there's a big difference between the life leech spell and the drain health one... for example hate aura is different from aggression due it's multiple target (area effect maybe)... it's just a matter of "power"? seems strange to me since i've seen that drain health continues to have more power levels in later levels as well as life leech...
Anyone has advice? :) TY
If i rember correctly drain health returns 1/3 of the damage in hp and life leech 2/3 of the damage in hp.
hum, i see... so the only reason for not just upgradin DH to LL at a certain skill level may be the mp cost... will go to check :P
(plus in some rare case the advantage of having 2 different "heal" skills...)
ty ;)
LL is the better one of the 2, so upgrade that one before DH.
I agree, LL is better, got SK friend that uses it. As a DA though, I used these skills PvE as openers, like in cata, stay in middle of room, is better on MP than using hate to have them come to you and does damage. Down side is, that its slower, sometimes in this fashion, you might just barely keep room cleared, use hate a few times to get spawn in good rotation.
yep, had same tactic with DE, and will substitute it with LL :P it's also a good combo to land hex or power break (non aggro bebuffs) before it, or if you're not in need of hp, poison them (less mp expensive than sting) ^^ on green and sometimes white mobs i prefer spells to my cubic... less expensive ;)
actuly as a sk you can cast bouth DH and LL and when your done he mob should just be at your feet also DH is the better to open with if your not low on life it is 2 times the dammage of LL
oh, now i see it! DH more damage oriented, less hp in retunr, LL less damage, more hp :) This make sense now :P
bingo :) also i woudent knock your cubits theay are your best assets
LL low dmg and higher HP gain, DH has a higher dmg but drains lesser HP back.

I use it in solo PvE in this way:
Blessed LL (has the same dmg as an unblessd DH) to drain back more HP and than unblessed DH, so I can manage my HP status.
If things get harder or I need some more HP I bless the DH also, which does a very good dmg to the mob (for a "none-nuker" class) and with both (DH and LL) I nearly haven't any HP problems.
Using my Drain Cube helps to manage my HP status also.
But in the end it depends on the mob you are hunting and the lvl you are.

In PvE partys:
I rarely drain in PvE partys cause Hex is much more important to the most groups. :P

In PvP:
I love DH in PvP cause it makes much more dmg than my "sword". I bless it allways and it makes around 250-800 dmg (without criticals), which is not so bad for melee class range skill :)
LL in PvP is nearly worthless, it's just one more range skill... but I prefere Freezingstrike or Lightningstrike instead of LL :)
(DH is a very good way in combination with a bow and FzStrike)

In my opinion, both DH and LL are important and very good. In the end you need both!
Drain Health returns 20% of the HP that was drained.

Leach life returns 100% of the HP that was drained, but is less powerful.

Im 95% certain about that, but you might wanna check it.
All I can say at last is, ALWAYS use BSPS for your LL!
TY for feedback ^^ in those days i was able to test those skills a bit, and right now i'm learning a good way to combine 'em in pve... LL and DH in some cases (greem mobs inside necropolis) nearly keeps my hp at full... i usually summon phantom cubic (less expensive) but when i have vampiric one, i need to esc only for the need of ss ;) on thing i'm figuring out is the effectiveness of Hex and Power break... and the best way to use freezing strike (slow spell, good at "opening"?) ty again ^^
You'll never need Power Break not in PvP nor in PvE, let you Phantom cube do this job.
Freezing Strike has a good damge with blessed, but in higher lvl you doesn't need it other than in PvP.

LL, DH, Hex are your main spells and later Lightningstrike.
Freezingstrike is good to slow enemys and make some nice damage.
Poison can be a goody, but it's not so important.
Power Break isn't good, cause in PvE you have enough better speels and in PvP you will not use it.
Corpse Plague is wortheless, don't skill it.

Vampiric Cube is nice cause it makes nice dmg and gives back some good HP and it can crist also sometimes :)
Phantom cube is your main cube in my opinion, cause you will love it and it helps a lot. I use Hex also in PvE when I am using this cube.
I wished I had the spark cube or another cube like that one which can paralyse people instead of this Viper cube. It's poison 8 (later on) is nice, but it's a DOT and in PvP you need as much dmg as fast as you can.... :( In PvE... hm, get as much dmg as you can.

But the worst thing is that most classes get poison or bleed resistance when they hit lvl 76 :( And with Dark Crystal Armor and the a high M.Def your LS, DH and Fzstrike are not very good anymore...
Melees aren't made for PvP in L2, that's the joke!
Yes, you will need pwr break in pvp.

:)
^^

Pwr Break in pvp? Hm, normaly you are dead befor you done with your other spells a/o most of your oponents are nukers which doesn't care about Pwr Break :)

My "nukes" and Hex are much more important, I'll let the Phantom Cube do his Pwr Break :P
with bsps it takes like 1.5 sec to cast, maybe less dno.

And ofcourse power break should only be done against melee ppl, in which it can have a devistating affect.
that's interesting! ^^ so i'll swap power break with hex on "main" hotbar :P
for corpse plague, i had the suspect about it's effectiveness... maybe i'll skill it if i have nothing better to do (and get the spb for free...) could be a funny diversion in pve :P
for freezing strike, since i almost "open" a PVE with LL or DH, need to test it a bit for a different strategy...
right now (at level 43) it's just level 1 (i have it in skill list now, but preferred to get mastery and cubics before... i'll take it as next anyway, just to see the diff and planning strategies) ;)
Of course this strategy vary mostly depending of what/where are you fighting... if you do an "aggro run" in a necro room, there's no time for such a slow spell unless you do not want to bless it... and mostly i prefer to use DH for get back some initial damage (almost inevitable when an aggro starts to run behin you).
otherwise (open range or non aggro already chasing you), also poison is good for a start... but i think that if you land freezing strike with it's slow effect, it gives you more time for casting some other good damage... :) well, fogive this monologue... i'm just making hipotesys (<-- sry if spelling is wrong :P)
nice thread anyway :) ty all
On the point!
Freezing Strike is "your" weapon against fast "mobs" or "enemys", it's the DE version of Hamstring or Entangle. It lands not as often as the others but makes some nice dmg with blessed also.

And the biggest advantage of the SK is his different playstile in different situations, he can choose between different positions and roles in partys or PvP. It makes him interesting to play in my opinion, but in the end I fear he sucks as all melees in pvp, but he still have one or the other surprise left for the enemy :p

Hm, Pwr Break blessed against melee classes is one good point. But Pwr Break isn't my first choice for my PvP action bar.

but in the end I fear he sucks as all melees in pvp, but he still have one or the other surprise left for the enemy :p

let's cross fingers for C5 :P

freezing strike is under a new light right now... i'll try to get familiar with it and develop a play style that uses it a bit more.. let's see what happens :)
In PvP this is a good way....
Run forward and hope the others chose you as a main target, than UD and you can cast some nice spells upon the enemys like Hex, FzS, LS, DH, Pwr Break and don't forget your Bow :)
And Cubes will help also :P

Maybe you survie long enough to help your party oO
Not sure about DE characters but for orc mages the level 40+ version has a greater range. The tooltip for each skill ought to indicate the range, 600 vs 900 if i recall correctly.
Hex, FzS, PwrB, DH, LL, Bow = 600
LS = 400 :(
Hate = 700 or so, didn't check it...
the best way to work freezing strike in is to open with it when your pulling singel mobs if it lands you can get in dh and ll if not only one leach as for hex i use it in catas only on the phys imune mobs or on 5 and 6x hp mobs when i solo power breake isent good realy its kinda useless doesent last long ene ugf let the phantom do his as for the viper cube he is kick *** in pvp no ones asking for a cure psn but this one will take em down fast corpse plaig cant be used on dead players so its useless i use it in a cata when i do a bad pull and have 5 mobs on me kill the first corpse plaige or when im doing bat lord grps and i get wind shackeled then meh im prob gonna miooss that swing any way might as well use a psn true we cant touch nukers as sk's but we are verry close to the top if not the top of the mele's
good suggestions! :) that's the way i'm using 'em right now (after my "tests")
^_^

that's interesting! ^^ so i'll swap power break with hex on "main" hotbar :P

Just a suggestion, but you can create a macro that uses those skills back to back. That way you don't have to swap out anything. If I don't have VR, GHP or D crystals on hand, I'll usually hunt using a hex+power break macro.

As for corpse plague, it's good to have if you aggro multiple mobs for whatever reason. But if that happens, you'll probably be too busy thinking of other ways to save yourself. :D

And 4 Golden Elpies goes to the person who suggested getting a bow. It comes in handy!
for the macro.. good idea but... *hem* can you give an example? i must admit my syntax is... *choug* do i have a syntax?
about the bow... i know it's a good idea, but right now i can't afford a decent one (i'm thinkin about a D grade...)
ty ^_^
realy you dont need a bow just some blesseds our nukes are as good as a sh's and we have eneugf to send out a constant stream of them
Sry, but I disagree in that point.

SKs have nice nukes but believe me in a real mass pvp you will love your bow.
well, surely a heavy armored archer can deal a good amount of damage and sustain a good backfire... but since there are no active or passive skills supporting it (but the very first one) i think a bow is not a priority... at least not a must getting the most expensive one: you'll need that money for the rest of your equip :P
apart of this, it could also give a nice variation in party (with a nuker, could be a good combo for killing mobs before they get close, and if they manage to get in close combat, sword/shield and hate should work and save the mage's soft bottom :P) and in soloing
