I am a 'noob' to the game and am looking forward to playing tonight. I started out with Guild Wars and then ROSE. I am throwing in the towel on ROSE due to the limited support form the engineers and all the disconnects. The only question I have is, which servers are the role playing servers and which ones are not? I don't want to end up on a role playing server cause the thought of another character coming up to me and shouting "I spit on your shoes" or "*gasp* WTH, I spit back" just makes me what to throw up. I just want to kill things and enjoy a game with a real economy and PvP. If anyone could please tell me what servers I should stay away from and which once I would enjoy - I would greatly appreciate it.
Any other useful information would also be a bonus.
Take a quick look in all of the different server forums. They each have a short blerb about the servers "personality." These threads were put together by players so they are pretty close to the truth.
The Sieg server is a really nice server to play on and I don't find it really role playing you really do get to fight mobs and eventually meet a really nice clan and they will help you out tons! So good luck on your decision and if your worried about being killed well minding your own business and fighting a mob it will tend to happen from time to time no matter what server your on thats why if you care about getting rid of that pker meet some friends and tell them about it or just shout "RED IN Location" and most likely people will come and kill them for the fun of it heh
Although Lionna claims the 'Role-playing server' title, I'm not sure it is all that much different there.
Depending on where you live, you should see the servers break into two groups; those with pings over 100 and those with pings around 35-50. I would suggest picking from the 35-50 group.
Erica server (which I have NOT played on) has the Server Police alliance which folks nominate as the worst griefer-group by far. I cannot verify this from my experience, but.. why risk it?
Bartz and Teon suffer the most 'unavailable' time since they have the most users. Teon's schedules (seiges, etc.) are set to be convenient to users in Europe.
Bartz, Seighardt, and Kain are the oldest servers, which means they have a large number of high levels. Most of the other servers have been around long enough now so you may not notice any differece in this regard though.
Realize you are not limited to picking one server. You can create up to seven characters on each of the nine servers. If you choose one server and hate it, create a character on a different server.
Although there are new players in all the starting towns, the first town with a large number of players will be Dion on most servers. Folks there are mid-20s and up. Don't be depressed by the scarcity of actual players (not all entities have humans at a screen) in the starting areas, it gets better as you level up and move to Dion and beyond.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I don't mind getting killed - the way I see it is that its all part of the game. Killing and being Killed is all good. There are three of us leaving ROSE and we are all going to be joining the same server. Thanks for the heads up and we will be on tonight. :)

I play on Erica... Erica is honestly worth playing on. It's not easy, but it is worth it.
We don't have so much an RP server, but Rper's on servers and in clans.

Lol, no one willforce you to RP. Althought Linna is "unoficial oficial RP server" majority there is not RP. It's just there more RP players on Lionna then on other servers, and/or they are more vocal about it.
One more thing, you should have more tolerance, Palmer. It realy helps :p

I have plenty of tolerance - I just like to see the kind of responces everyone has. From what I have heard this is one of the best games to play for both content and other players. I am hoping this will be true.
I have noticed a number of disgruntled people posting in the forums - I guess they are everywhere. I am greatly looking forward to playing and am currently trying to figure out what character I want to start.
I personally have no problem with RPers. Because I never see thm on Devianne. I have played other games where people started RPing and involving me and it made me feel uncomfortable.
If some one tried that in L2 I would just pk them. And then KoS them. One of the good things about this game. :D

I play Lionna (picked by accident actually) and in 5 months I've heard maybe 5 rp conversations of ANY length.
I had two toons on other servers briefly and didn't encounter any rp there either.
I don't think Lionna is "the role playing server"---I think it's a regular server that has role play folks on it to some degree.
So far I've encountered great folks throughout Lionna--helpful, griefers, pk'ers, uber clans/alliances, the whole 9 yards.

If you want content, check out other games like EQ2. If you want a sweet looking and sounding game, this is it. The combat system is a little simplistic, but works for what most people want.
As for people, if you are looking for the fantasy version of CounterStrike, this is the game. Plenty of trash talking, killing, scamming, drama (and I don't mean roleplay) and the like on here.

Blah blah blah. Lionna has RPers, every server has RPers. They are decent folks, and dont bite you for not RPing with them. The key to choosing Lionna, is that we have a powerstruggle at the top, which means the majority of the would be lowbie griefers are busy playing thier 78/75/7x and fighting eachother than ******* with the newbs.
