Ok, first off... you are lvl 23. In my eyes (unless this is a reroll) you have just started the game.
Having a dwarf alt can help and it is how I made a good part of my money when I first started.
You need to learn the basic idea that you either hunt to make money or hunt to xp but not both.
At higher lvls the adena drops are much better, though I only need to use 2 shots to kill those mobs so it is easier for me to control my money.
Also, use the manor system or learn the market and when you see an underpriced item that you can afford (and know it is a generally wanted item) buy it and sell it for the maximum the market will allow (don't price yourself out of the market however).
Pick a saturday and hunt all day on greens without using shots and see how much money you have at the end of the day. Then take that money and buy cheap Enchant weapon D and up the price on them to whatever higher price you've seen them at.
Do this a few times and then up the ante when you have enough money.
Heck, you could even take advantage of mammon and buy A gemstones and sell for slightly higher. Some people do not like chasing the merchant of mammon around for these things and would gladly pay a little extra to have them.
Yes it will help you especially now that you are low level. Actually you just have to make the money maker lvl it up a bit and after 20 lvl make it an artisan , try to craft dss or dbsps and make a profit out of them. This way you can support your main char with adena and spiritshots/soulshots. This is a hard game especially at the lower levels, patience is trully a virtue in lineage2.;)
dss/dbsps is the lamest way to make adena in this game
if fact just playing an artisan is a dumb idea
the low lvl money making class is a scav but even that pales in comparison to what the market can earn you
play smarter
no class makes adena unless the person playing knows how

This guy here, he knows what he's talking about.
Every class has nearly the same money making capabilities, it's a matter of knowing the market.
The #1 way to make easy money in this game is the manor system, learn it, love it, use it.
Well all in all I consider the consumables to remove money from the system (SS, pots, teleports, enchants, you name it) a good idea... however the devs somehow made a design mistake... as every noob per se assumes that he MUST use those goodies, ALL THE TIME.
Remember kids... SS, scrolls, pots and ports are for people who have too much money. It is (in general) not possible to use them and earn extra money because they are meant to make you lose money.
I did not spam any shots until high 40, not to mention pots, and even playing a BH I was never extraordinarily rich. Now I make money playing the market.
I know I'm pretty much alone with the opinion that spamming consumables is bad for you... but there I don't blame anyone but the devs. Making it a wee bit too hard to solo this game without all the goodies.
This game will not let you level wastefully at early levels (althogh for buffers/healers, it does get better later - actually for nukers too, and from what I hear even for DDs) - you must find a way to augment your income.
Popular choices:
1.) Fishing. A few plain fish gems may take you a while to gather but will pay for hours upon hours of levelling. There is a quest available to you soon that will earn you a free fishing rod to get you started (check stratics (http://lineage2.stratics.com) for more information).
2.) Quests. Only applicable at later levels.
3.) Manor. This is very dependant on your server - and you must be able to make the hand-in (it's about 12 hours from this post), as well as knowing the market to figure out which seeds to do.
When I started out I almost never used SS, ran EVERYWHERE and farmed and sold mats on a scavenger that I made to afford my things. Heck up to about 50 I still ran everywhere. I can't do that now but I have enough money that I don't have to.
You also have a lot of nice benefits to take advantage of that I didn't have at beta/prelude. Manor, noob benefits, better quests, etc etc
This game is delightfully complex. There are dozens, no..hundreds, of ways to make good money. Some are common (like buy low and sell high, or make shots to sell) and some are more rare and complex (which I won't mention so they can stay rare and profitable).
But find the ones that you think are fun and do them. When people, like one above, says that some ways are 'stupid' they really mean to say that they don't think those ways are fun. You might like 'em.
There is good advice in this thread...run, don't use shots, be thrifty and save (just like in rl). Personally, I like the shot crafting and buying and selling things. I don't buy and sell everything, just maybe a dozen or so things which I feel I have a good feel for in the market, so I don't make mistakes. The dss crafting is for when I have to do housework and stuff....LardButt the dorf sits and sells/crafts as I do stuff and I click on the 'craft' button when I walk by, makes me feel productive and gets the laundry done.
I have to disagree my lvl 60 ws helps me make alot of money these days.
1. If you have an dwarf Artisan/ws you can make your own SS/Bsps/sps.
2. I have my Ws's sell slots maxed out so I hold 6 items for sell, meaning I can sell more in my afk shops.
3. BH at higher lvls are great find a rare item that complete's a set and craft it. I currently make about 5 mil a night. ( not alot but enough to offset my spamming to lvl on my main) things like Plate leather boots and Divine gloves will help aquiring your b grade much easier. At lower lvls the only item like that is brig helms.
Keep these ideas in mind once you get higher up and you should be good to go.
I cant even afford to teleport to towns or support a SSD habbit.
I'm going to be painfully obvious here and say STOP USING THEM!
First, at your level, why are you porting all over? There's no reason for it. Run a little, it doesn't hurt. You're being lazy and that's a kiss of death in this game.
Second, take a day off from using shots. You can do it. Find some nice green mobs and hunt without shots.
Hunting without shots is doable, easily. Hunting without shots saves you a [censored] of adena, and only thing that'll suffer is your exp speed (boohoo, if you want to spam and level fast, go ebay or buy an account like everyone else).
At 55 I still run everywhere. I use SOE zones to speed long journeys, but I don't use the ports. I don't like to waste adena. That's also the reason why I don't level in catacombs, any benefit I might get from AA or such goes out of the window with the insistence of the ebay newbies / super-rich ebay rerolls that everyone spams gazillion shots while there. (I miss old Cruma, when parties went for half a day without spamming a single shot and everyone was happy with the xp speed, before the grand ebayer days)
Everyone talking about not using shots is correct. Problem is, it's a huge addiction. Once you get used to it, it's really hard to let go.
A couple things to think about, especially if you're soloing. If you HAVE to use shots, use them smart. The auto-shot loader was a great idea, but you often waste extra shots putting the kill blow down on a mob with 20 hit points left. If you manually hit the shot button (like we all used to have to) then you can select when and how much shot you want to use on each mob. Obviously, none is best from a money standpoint, but just being smarter about it can save you hundreds of shots (thousands of adena) in a single leveling session.
Also consider questing for a pet like a wolf (if you're a melee style player). There's added damage right there. Yes, he eats food and takes xp, but it's not as expensive as shot and after a while, you get a high level pet that you can possibly sell for cash. (Read l2pets.com for guides on using a pet. They'll save you a lot of headaches.)
Lineage is a game where 99% of the weapons, armor, jewelry, weapon parts, will not come from your efforts alone. This is *not* a game where you can farm everything yourself. It is a game with an open, barter style market, and it intentionally limits the drops that you get so you must trade what you have for what you need.
With the manor, you can get large quantities of particular mats. Every mat is important in the game, and in large quantities, can be worth a lot of money.
At your level, your best bet for making large amounts of money is to start learning how many crystals various D grade items give. Find a friendly dwarf, have them crystalized, and sell the crystals at a profit in Giran. Fight in Seven Signs dungeons and get the less-common Seven Signs items and sell them at a markup.
Haha, yeah don't worry about teleports. I didn't even really know what the Gatekeeper was when I first started this game. I remember my goals for the day of playing were to run from Elven Village to Gludin, get a quest, do it and run back to Elven Village. Man that would take forever
Yes running from say dion to gludio saves you 4100 aden.
it may be faster to TP but you save 4k.
It's not possible to Lvl at high lvls with a nuker with out shots, it is not possible.
Also look to things like run from giran town till you see dion territory and soe, saves you some run time. soe's are pretty cheep, especially in noob towns like; dwarf village and orc village.
when your a low lvl, it's better for you to die a few times (hope you don't drop) that wont hurt you at all. reroll a prophet or bishop/SE if you want to make a lot of money...and go on raids, you get a ton of XP, and some pretty good drops.
also hunting in NoS(necro of scarifice) is a good way to make XP and money to. and NoS drops alot of red seal stones that you can sell in giran for 14a each.
As mentioned, don't use shots every hit, and auto shots is the most wastefull thing they added. (I see healers/buffers useing auto shots and buffing) you can lvl and save money if you use a SS every other hit.
As many others have told you, run, don't port. I used to use a dss every 3rd swing when I first started levelling at ob. There are also quests for money. I never hunt a mob unless there is a quest involved. Even now. At 23, you should be killing captains, generals in AC. The quest starts in south gludin. I think the NPC is leopold. Get as many black, blue and red badges as you can, turn themin at the end of the day, make some adena.
A dwarf is only a good idea so that you can craft your own shots. It won't help you get rich unless you play it seriously into the upper level, 55+ range. But you will still run into the same problems you have now on the dwarf if you are porting everywhere.
Sometimes porting IS worth it. If porting to a place costs less than the money you could make during that time period instead of running, then it's worth it. In other words, ONLY when running takes away from money making time. If you're porting just to save time in general, it's a waste.
Its really silly to suggest that anyone spamming shots or porting is an ebayer, and in fact, its quite easy to make a profit while spamming shots.
Also, to use a welloiled manor system without using shots is less efficient. While you might use 200K on shots, having a 2 million adena profit instead of 1,2 million adena profit makes those 200K wellspent.
That is a valid point. Even the unmentionable players spam shots often. And who better to tell us what's the fastest way to make money. Of course, they don't have to save up for the next grade.
The #1 way to make easy money in this game is the manor system, learn it, love it, use it.
Provided its running on your server.
And to make it worse, the ones who needs the most money (newbies) will very rarely be able to grasp the complicated manor system.
Can't argue about manor not runing..
How ever me, on my first char got the hang of manor system at my early 20th.. And thats considering that my chars came from Elmor at lvl 19.
You all confuse wealth per time with wealth per level.
It doesn't only matter how fast you make money, it also matters how much your need for adena increases in the same time. Thats where yu have to look for deficits, not only wether there are more adenas in your inventory after an evening of hunting.

Usually the unmentionable players don't spam shots (depends on where they are), but thats because they either
1. Run too long to be able to carry shots.
2. Would rather take the steady and reliable income. (no need to find a billion shots every month)

Perhaps there is a way to make money even while spamming shots constantly. I don't know what it is, with pet shots at 24a cheapest and mobs dropping 400-800, materials and coins, I still couldn't break even if I spammed. If I in addition used my own shots, I'd be broke in a day.
Not everyone spamming and porting is an ebayer, of course, some might just be lucky or untastefully rich rerolls/alts/subclasses, but I find the non-ebayer segment to be so diminishingly small it's irrelevant in the context for me.
And manor system would be nice to use, but a) the castle owners on Teon have no clue and b) bots buy and sell them all if there's anything worth seeding.
In higher levels, your income will get bolstered by running quests, manoring or spoiling along with your hunting. At low levels, using a 2-ss-consumption weapn might make it, but I don't think that's feasible for melees.
Castles do make an insane amount of money and not just Giran and Aden. Not to mention an endless supply of quick heal pots during a war...
However, I don't think Dawn or any other castle holding clan (Not even BP) is going to recruit a lvl 24 (which is the lvl the op was at the time of posting), so I don't think that is the greatest advice for him. :(
Of course he might not be on Bartz, but I doubt any castle owning clan recruits members that low...

Wasn't really meant to be solid advice for that guy in particular, just citing my method of income that a lot of people don't even consider tbh.

I'm going to remember this next time there's an event and all of the castle owners show up crying about their profits. :)
events that lower enchant scroll prices do hurt castle lords... so do events that give qhp. Sure they will still make money, but NCsoft can come up with something else, and whenever they take castle crafts and give to event... I will alway complain... So I'll see you at the next event post! :)

yeah it's our clans major source of income too. Just curious why you were suggesting to a lvl 24 to siege. :)
If u haven't heard anything useful on this post at this point then u can't read! :)
One thing I didn't hear specified (maybe because it's obvious)....those quests? Don't leave them too quickly!
If you can get two or even three quests where mobs are even light blue to you---and all mobs are in same general location, you can still get adena drops and you can hunt really efficiently.
Learn how to eliminate mobs EFFICIENTLY--manuever, selection, attack variables, combinations. THAT can be a fun part of the game if you let it be.
If you can hunt mushroom guys, goblin guys, and orcs and all are in the same field--you'll get adena from kill AND more from each quest payout. Importantly you don't have to run all over creation to grind them down.
My secret for adena? Don't have one yet. I've done everything wrong mentioned on this post at times and learned the hard way.
Now when I'm not intending to lvl quickly I return to lt blue mobs, get a quest for them, and hunt without soulshot.
Good luck OP!

Yes but now it seems like when you say "hurt" it would be like if Exxon made a few million dollars less a quarter (they made something like $8+ billion this quarter). "Hurt" is relative...

they hurt a little more than that... maybe reduce profits by 20% (Pulled that # straight out of my [censored].)
If you post a link in the manner you did what happens is the thread has to be scrolled from side to side to read.
What people like are clickies UBB code that gives a clickable link where you can put in a short name. How you do this is by typing [u r l = http://whatever the URL is here ]Name of what you want for the Clickie[/ u r l] (you will need to remove the spaces in u r l. I put them in so you could see what to type.

It's one of those things that I wish the forums did automatically (if a link is longer than x, change it to a shorter one, like you did).
Not using all caps should be a given, however. Not using any caps is just lazy. Punctuation isn't difficult either. Then again, I'm old so it would actually take me longer to not do those things and replace words with abbreviations.
