Hello all, just started the other day with my level 11 human fighter Anomandaris. It's been pretty good so far, but I've been reading the message boards and it seems melee is all but useless in this game. :( I'm a melee at heart but should I just restart with a mage right now?
Hello, I'm new to this game / server as well. Perhaps we could meet up in the game and work togather sometime. Anyway just an idea. Feel free to message me in the game or on these boards.
#1 Rule in Games:
PLAY WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY NOT WHAT IS DEEMED UBER
The follow up rule for this is that you find yourself a nice clan or group of players to play with and they won't care what class you are but rather WHO you are and HOW you play (ie, do you participate? do you like to have fun? do you get mad and complain when something goes wrong? do you like to make fun of other orcs in your party? etc etc).
Welcome to the game and to this server! And again, if you're enjoying the class you picked, stick with it and find some fun and like-minded players out there and have a good time!
Welcome to game and grats on picking the server with the coolest people!
Don't read board posts (including mine!). LMAO
I have a new DA and I thinks it's a gas. Tanking through the 20's, 30's, and early 40's has been fun and a challenge.
True--every nuker I come across seems to kill me pretty easily but as far as pve--I have been able to have a lot of fun!
If you like swatting things then ignore others and go on swatting. Personally I would hate throwing two spells, running for my life, and sitting down for 5 minutes!
I WILL tell you gear for your little tank in training is gonna be a drain--be frugal NOW with adena. Save the mats u get in your warehouse till you learn where to sell them later (as an example--those little 'animal bones' you get fairly often are selling for 1-1.2k PER bone in dion/giran right now)--kill more lt. blue monsters than you can stand and don't use soulshot or healing pots if you can help it.
Oh--and porting around when you're new/low is for suckers (adena sink). Run every chance you get!
When you get to dion around lvl 20 give me a shout (DrakkosV) and I'll try to give you a hand.
Good luck!
[quote do you like to make fun of other orcs in your party? etc etc).
I don't know Alryn--how has that 'making fun of orcs' been working out for you?
To OP--I would skip that part of Alryn's advice. I've seen him killed WHILE WAITING FOR RAID BOSS ATTACK TO BEGIN!
orcs can be 'sensitive'....and their idea of 'fun' can be odd--to say the least......though to add to what he said, watching him get attacked BY THE RAID GROUP has always been fun for me! :)
Thanks for the replies guys :) Yeah I've decided to stick with my future knight. As for the advice about being frugal with my adena, don't worry, I am a total cheapskate lol. I'll use the same weapon until the blade falls off and its doing 1 damage against a monster before I spend my precious money.
When it comes to buying new weapons, I see alot of people say to buy from players but I hardly see anyone on Talking Island and no one selling. What would be a good city to go to find people selling things?
Giran is the central player shop city. Go there and you'll find most of what you need. Dion has some stuff too but it's easier to get a better view of what's a good value or not in Giran as some people put things at bad deals in Dion as there's not as much competition.
Dion's a very nice town though. Definitely my favorite music, too!
For buing no grade and may be (rarely) low-mid D Dion is probably the best spot. You willb e able to find there some best NG items for like 200k, those sold in stores for about 280-290k. IF you will be guingf items fromplayers make shure you learn porice from NPC's first. There are lots of overpricers in Dion.
Hit level 20 today after griding 300,000 monsters. I happily skipped along to the harbor to make my way to gludin to do the class change quest. I get to the docks and talk to the wharfmaster. I'm confused as to why there is two different tickets... I Buy the cheap one for 2k. I wait and wait for the boat and finally it arrives and I wait some more for it to leave. It finally does and then..... "You cannot board without a pass".... I'm back at the docks. So I buy the other ticket for 9k and wait again. This time I'm able to ride the boat..... Until I alt+tab out of the game to read the message boards while I wait for the boat to make its way to gludin.... Obviously this game can't handle alt+tabbing while riding on the boat because I was disconnected and back at the village. Arrrrrrrggghhhh. Time and money down the drain. I decide to do the quest with the gatekeeper going to Giran. I teleport there and wow. That's alot of people and alot of shops. Too bad they are all like "XxxZZZ/ dagsjklasjd KKEKEKEKE ZERG for sale" Couldn't find any D-grade until I got to Dion I think, and it was 3.3 million and after 20 levels i have 155k....yeah.
After a long journey across the world I finally arrive at Gludin village and talk to the guy about class change. He sets me on my quest and I talk to the high priestess for a task and get sent to kill lizardmen. I kill 3 lizardmen with no problem and I see a treasure chest sitting there. Obviously I didn't get the memo where treasure chests are canivorous beasts of doom. I die. Back to level 19.
We´ve all been at the freakin Talking Island ferry... and it always sucks ^^
After completing your class change quest and becoming whatever you are aiming at. Discover the Manor System (:
Pick a good quest, grind and seed for the win =) Until you have enough cash to buy yourself some better equip. Make sure you grind (seeds) and at the same time kill the quest monsters. So that you will gain "double" money on the same monster. Seeds and quest money..!
Join a raidparty once in a while, make some friends... Continue to grind, make money, buy equip (:
Advance to become the most fearsome warrior in the world, until you come across my Overlord, staring in my eyes and run in fear... ;)
Strike 1 against Lineage 2. Couldn't find any D-grade until I got to Dion I think, and it was 3.3 million and after 20 levels i have 155k....yeah.
Again, these are Top-D items they are selling. Don't worry about those. Check out the vendor shops, too, for low-mid D gear, you can find some nice stuff in Dion Weapons Store. You may be able to find lower prices in player shops but then again, you may also not find anything but higher D in player shops (since that stuff isn't sold in most or any shops). Also, I doubt you see any D above a mil or two. I bought a newbie some decent D grade caster robes for 300k, top and bottom from an NPC shop. Good enough to last a good chunk of your D-grade life.

Ouch. What color was the chest? Chests have the same color levels as mobs, do. And make sure you have a key ;) Even with a key some chests are mean but they're no different than a mob at the same level.
And welcome to L2! Beware everything.... even innocent little treasure chests!
P.S. You'll get used to losing XP upon death. It's never fun but after a while you realize it's just more opportunity to save up SP and adena ;) Luckily you never lose SP, adena, or quest items. Whew!
Relax grasshopper--I had almost the same experience.
The first time I bought the boat ticket I didn't confirm--so it really didn't make it into my inventory.
IMPORTANT Lesson with that first ferry ticket--you must READ DETAILS from NPC's--whether for quest or anything.
One of those tickets, when u highlight it says "ticket to GLUDIN"--the other says "ticket to GIRAN". The gludin one is the cheaper one. THey are not the same ticket (bet you figured that out already if you made it to gludin).
Always read slowly (lmao--in WS quest I spent 18k porting to talking island before realizing I had missed instructions to get a stupid berry from execution grounds! Had to ride boat back, get to EG, get berry, get back to gludin, ride boat to TI--all cause I was hasty).
As for weapons--let's think smaller here friend. Bastard sword is like 800k in Gludin shop (which has 1 or 0% taxes right now). Sometimes you can buy them for 700k or so from players. I know that sounds like a lot but it's not really (animal bones are selling in dion for 1,200 EACH--up to 2,000a EACH in Giran).
I even got a bastard sword drop from Orc Warlord in orc barracks at lvl 25--tho that's rare!
Leopuld in Gludin gives nice quest for ol'mahums (in abandoned camp) it's repeatable, pays well. He is by SE gate in Giran. At level 25 run to orc barracks and get quest from "Seomun/Simeun" (?sp) an npc by a house north of the entrance road--again, repeatable, good payouts.
You can kill anything around gludin that you can run to in 5 minutes with the exception of some mobs in Forgotten Temple and the Highest old mahum in AC.
Hang in there--money will come. I was EXACTLY where you are now--lvl 24 in bronze gear with a gladius with 150k in warehouse.
It get's better...heck, pm drakkoscrafter in game tonight and i'll help you out with some adena or gear!
Heck, if I had your adena I'd already have B-grade for my DA!!!!!
I have no intention of giving you anything like gear or adena---jeeez, the NERVE of some people!!!!
To the OP, seriously I'll help if I can--at least a little. I can't give anything to Alryn--he'll just die and drop whatever he's given anyway........

How much do you think I have? I doubt I can even afford a C-grade paper hat!
Thanks for the advice guys. The legend of zeld....i mean anomandaris continues! I am now a knight!

I don't think I'm going to be able to wait that long. I'm still using the sword of solidarity and I'm really feeling how weak it is now. Yeah I'll definately be sending you a whisper Drakkos ;)
Likewise, I tend to hang around in Gludin with Olorae. If you see me set-up near the Gatekeeper, say hi. Odds are I'm there and just working on homework or something (I hate finals week).
I can give you some help, as well as some really nice buffs.
Wow, yesterday was a crazy day. It might have started out a little rocky, but it ended great! I cannot thank DrakkosV enough, he was a huuuuuuge help. And now I have a bastard sword woo!! I think he was trying to talk be into being a dark avenger and joining the dark side though ;)
I also want to thank Lyle for giving me a tour of Cruma tower, even if i ruined my newly washed clothes in the swamp.
Now the quest for some real armor and not a shirt that's half a skirt begins!
