good xp

what sorta xp do you think is reasonable per day at higher lvls?

i knew a guy who was getting 40% a day at 76 which is prolly rediculous but at 70-78 what can you expect?
I already said to myself that above 61 I would be happy with about 10-15% a day.
40% at 76... Hmm I don't enve think I can get close to that.
At upper 6x I got 3% an hour... and if I play 24 hours a day thats 72% but I know by fact that the xp needed at 76 is almost 4 times as much, brrrrrr.

Really hardcore days I play maby 10 hours or so I get 15-20% at my lv but that all depence in the end.

i knew a guy who was getting 40% a day at 76

He was also playing pretty efficiently and on a close to 24 hour shift, lol.

That's just insane.

I get 5% for several hours play and then I call it a day. About 1% per buff round which is abou 18 minutes I believe. Or whatever the clan hall buff rounds are like. But then I take small breaks, get food etc.
>> 40% a day at 76
that's slighty over 0.55% a buff round, quite easy for a nuker w/ buff pet in plays 24h, but pointless.
actually it was a HE
you could prolly beat that with a mage and a few out of party rechargers but not by much lol
i think at the time he was partied with an sps and a bd

anyway at 70+ anyone getting 10% a day or more?
4-5% a day isn't bad at this point
With my retired SPS lvl 72 on Hinde I did 7+% an hour on the bat groups and accidentally pulled agro mobs in Blazing Swamp, keep in mind I had my SE with me off party.
This was in C3 though and to me seemed the best spot to lvl since they were all 2 shooters, I don't know if there are better spots now to hunt ( for a nuker).

anyway at 70+ anyone getting 10% a day or more?

So this really depends on how many hours people play a day^^ and on the other hand to me that's not playing but mindnumbing grinding
im only 46, and im getting only 20% per day

maybe cos im a bish at war? i do tend to be the first one down when my group dies.

is there another type?

I already said to myself that above 61 I would be happy with about 10-15% a day.

I'm 68 now, and I'm more than happy with 10-15% a day for the 2-3 hours or so I play if I can manage that much. So I'd be pretty happy with 5% a hour, but usually ends up being a bit less since I end up socializing or shopping or this past month I've been hiding in town since I can't solo with the lag.

If the level wall chart is correct, dont you need about 100m xp or more to level? So at level 76...40%...that's like over 40 million xp a day. That's insane...
I'm 71 and got 4.5% last night in a TOI party in 2.5 hours. It wasn't the best party (could have used another DD, one player was playing nuker and healer), and there are better places to XP. I think it wouldn't be that difficult to get 3% per hour at level 71 in a good group.

Recently we've found a new high-lvl place to AOE, and when we get the right group together we get amazing xp. I can't remember off the top of my head, but it's on the order of .15% per pull and the pulls are fast.
I can't usually play much at all during the week - that's troll and market time. But when I make a levelling session, I expect to get about a level for my cleric and about half of one for my main. I take lots of breaks though.

When I played 12-14 hours a day before university, I was doing considerably better. ^^,
low to mid 60s (yeah not high but whatever) you should be getting 9-15% an hour.
Ok, so after seeing what everyone else gets per hour, can someone explaim to me what I am doing wrong and has been leading me to get only 3% or less per hour at level 64? I figured I was doing good two shotting the splendors in Valley of Saints which give some of the best experience I coudl find for my level.
Do you go without a boxed SE, and aren't you a SpS?

If yes, that's your answer. The advantages of OOP buffs (Empower) and possibly recharges are humongous.

maybe you use sleep too much :D
If my experience with the blades there is any indication, that's actually, even if it's meant as a joke, probably another thing: A lot of adds occur in VoS, due to them constantly teleporting their buddies to them when they get attacked. That can drain MP quite a bit after a while.
my guess on what you are "doing wrong" is that you are one of the few telling the truth.

Something about this math seems kinda confusing to me as a noob.
I don't have a toon over lvl 42 yet but the experiences related here make no sense to me........

I did extensive math at level 37...it would have taken 9.3 hours to level 40% of that level solo without dss and with rest periods (rather than spamming healing pots). At the time I did the 'time study' I was killing nothing but granite golems in the wastelands that were lt blue to me.
That seems to equate to about 23 hours to level the entire lvl 37-38. If the bar goes from 0-100 in 23 hours, each hour would net about 4.3%...no resting from game, no trips to town, no stopping to chat.
Obviously soul shot and healing pots (or a healer) could improve that--but probably not by 100% (8.6% per hour).

I'm guessing most of us casual players average about 3-4% per hour unless something drastic happens at higher levels and the mobs commit suicide when you walk up to them.
40% in 24 hours? So, about 2% an hour? God, I wish I could get 2% an hour. I'm happy if I crest 1% an hour in my early 70's. The curse of the melee: Suck in PVE, Suck in PVP.

On a serious note, the problem is your niether duoing with a SE, have a 2boxed SE or a clan hall. As for me I have a clan hall with exponentially increased hp/mp regen rates. So from Goddard I get buffs, port to Disciples Necropolis for 8k adena from Goddard GK. Run north slightly, kill Doom series mobs 2 shotting them for 2.5% a buff round of 18 minutes. I have 3k MP to start and about 50mp when I'm done. I try to create a pace where I can B2M as much as possible. I have nukes that cost 2/3 of a SPS's. Vampiric Claw which if used with Body2mind can create a pace. As well if I'm in trouble I have enough casting speed to get off a Vamp Claw for me to live. Of course I keep d crystals on me and 20 CP pots because I'm in a war and gank squads constantly come by but I drop most of them. But when I do die usually I still came out on exp for the buff round with a 0.5% exp loss.

I'm not leaching the CH or anything, I have put my share of adena into buying it, it wasn't cheap and we did earn it. I feel with the increased clan capacity it will be hard to move around in Clan Halls anymore lol.

Anyways Clan Halls or 2boxed healers do make a difference of exping. So 3% an hour at 6x isn't bad, it's just with the bonus features available you can easily be making 3-4x that. Was fun with CH I was making 20% a buff round in my low 50's, I miss that lol, I never cared about death.
Lets see...

My SpellSinger made 67 on Sunday evening.
As of last night, she's at 12%.
No O-O-P SE. Using SPS, but not quite spamming.
Some of it was partied, some was solo.
4% a day or so. I make about a level a month, or try to.

But then, I'm not an UberEXP party elitest snob.
I group with my friends and clan and have a good time.

wow you need to learn how to lvl...

NEVER kill anything less than green when farming for xp.
NEVER kill without ss when farming for xp.
Try to kill things that are weak to your attack type.

If you lvld on light blues or darkblues you aren't lvling, you are wasting time. The ONLY reason you should ever kill a blue mob is if it is agroing you or for a quest. You were prolly getting like 300xp per golem. Takeing 50 sec to kill it, and 50 sec to run to the next one. Go to EG and kill tress for 1200 xp per kill in 10 sec (using ss) with 8 seconds between mobs. Also get buffs from x-roads if you can, but use heal pots.

Your example is so bad, and your lvling style so inefficient I'm about to cry.

1 bd/1sws/1 ee/1 sleeper/5 archers with an outside se and prophet a heart is the only way I'll play me BD anymore. I am an eliteist on my BD. On my necro I solo while I wait for the elite party. :)

Your main problem is that your fighting Blues....don't do that. The XP reduction per mob is as bad as the drop reduction per mob. Only fight whites or Greens. Also around these levels the extra XP per mob increases at a pretty good rate for every additional level of the mob. This can be 200xp per mob level or more. (And when xp per mob is 1K-1.5K, thats still a big difference.)

I've been grinding a couple of dwarves in Execution Grounds from L30-L37/38 and I seem to be getting 3x the xp your getting. I'm grinding without buffs (most of the time....I still get ninja buffed occasionally. ^_^ ) minimal potion use, choosing to sit most of the time AND I'm fighting with the help of a Wind Hatchling who eats a goodly part of each mobs xp. (It's L41 now. =D )

I'm gonna have to leave EG soon though as the only mobs being green or better is soon going to be the Hangman Trees and I don't like fighting those with the dwarves. I suppose I'll head over to Death Pass about that time.

Over all though kill speed > xp per mob.
Many people like to kinda brag a little bit, so they tend to put their BEST exp/hour time in this kind of threads. Those are the hours they notice and the ones that stick in their mind.

Very few people are detail oriented (obcessed) enough to actually keep track of what their average exp/hour is at different levels, much less at different locations and with different party groupings.

Therefore, if you are not making the Uber Exp that some posters speak about...nothing wrong with you. You are being honest with yourself, and I think that is commendable.

If you are the kind of person who plays for fun and enjoyment, and not for MaxUberExp, then you are probably a significantly happier person, too.

QFT. I'd rather grind with friends in an imperfect group than grind with a bunch of EXP-only oriented snobs; especially ones that tell you how to play your toon.
pfft... Don't hit the mob that way, hit it this way you noob!

gladiators usually don't party with EXP-only oriented snobs. We have standards and your class doesn't meet them. :)

On a side note, when I want to xp I don't want to do it in a piss poor party. It doesn't mean that I'm not going to be talking in ally/clan/party/ts to my friends... It means I want a good party, or I am waisting ss/time.

pfft... Don't hit the mob that way, hit it this way you noob!

Hey, I've seen it happen...

"Use this skill"
"Now do this attack"
...
I think you've misunderstood my point.
I wasn't trying to level in that example--I was trying to make money.
I appreciate that whites + soulshot is leveling advantage.

Granting a SIGNIFICANT increase over my example some of the claims of this post still seem pretty high.
Killing whites over lt blues while spamming soulshot and healpots going solo would have to be, what, 300% better than my example to generate some of the exp per hour claims on this post......

Okay--maybe my exp gather skills really ARE tear-generating!
:(

Killing blues (even light blues) is a terrible way to make money.
SirE--actually it was the math I did at that level on killing time vs adena that proved that to me.
I don't have those figures with me but the adena I could expect from the level was pathetic if I continued to kill lt blues..something like an average of 348 every 2-3 mobs--would have netted only 180k for the entire level!
Hey, what can I say--I'm still trying to figure stuff out for myself!

btw-in response to the other poster's note about "300 exp"---each granite golem gave 1880 exp....still too low for leveling efficiently.
Killing Whites and Greens in FG with full Proph/SE Buffs solo, i get about 1.5% Per buff round. So roughly 5% an hour if i push it.
Who exp's when there are all these players around to flag on? Body to mind? You want me to stop spamming my /target SirE macro?

/agree

While my clan does like to organize xp parties, we also have a lot of fun at the same time. We laugh so hard on vent that sometimes I can't see the monitor because my eyes are watery. Before you know it, several hours have gone by and you're up a bunch of xp.

But other days, we like to relax, play on our lowbie alts, help people out with various quests, work on the hatchlings, etc. We DO like to xp, and we xp hard, but we also take the time out to enjoy the other parts of the game.

Just remember that this isn't a race. You don't need to be level 78 next week. It's better to pace yourself, rather than get burned out.
My experience is 7%/pony with OOP Prophet buffs, 5.5~6%/pony with Laeska's buffs (she's a cleric) OOP, ~5%/pony self-buffed, and 4% if I for some reason have Laeska in party and am not using her buffs (because, for example, I went spontaneously ******ed and forgot I had her in party although her client is open - at 5 AM, these things happen).

Why do I know this? Because it gives me a better goal than grinding for the next level. When I grind to try to reach my top exp/pony (they last pretty exactly a buff round, as we're both OOM by that time and I unsummon), I have immediate successor failure. I don't need to wait the few weeks it can take me to get a level and frustrate myself.

Buff round grind stats are one of the best motivators there are.

For those people who would rather grind with friends than in an exp-heavy group: You're the ones who are being snobs, assuming people who enjoy putting together perfect groups don't have a good time doing so.

My groups are rarely perfect though. =p Hell, there's usually a melee group at my raids.
35-40, i find heine to be a great place for these levels as a melee. There is noone there, but you better have elven on. If you are a capable toon, get a glaive and SO friend and go aoe pilgrims in the first rooms, or HC in the back.

At lvl 60 - I average 5% and hour in groups, about 12% an hour solo (buff pets)

At lvl 75 - I average 1% an hour in lower than 75 lvl groups or in TOI up to 2.5 % an hour in imperial tomb with 76+ people.

Like a few have said, if you are only concerned about exp, you won't succeed in this game. You have to have fun while you exp, or why bother? The ones that think there is only fun at higher levels are the ones that will generally do "anything" to get to those levels. We had a pvp for some raid bosses on some low level alts a few days ago that was the funnest thing I have done in a while. Until everyone broought their A grade toons ^^
Yes, the people that join, pretty much, any group, allow almost anyone to join their group, don't kick people out when "someone better" comes along are so much more snobby than the "perfect groupers"...

 (<-- where is it, Mistryl!!!)
Not everyone who forms perfect groups does so by kicking out people - chances are they take the right people along and keep them.

There are clans that like to make perfect groups and are very nice. The snobby part is assuming that someone is an [censored] just because they make a perfect group.

Tyvm.
Of course there are snobs on both sides. However, those that just join parties and head out probably aren't standing around "being all snobby" to the others waiting for a specific classed toon to show up. Cuz, you know, they're already out grinding and stuff.

btw-in response to the other poster's note about "300 exp"---each granite golem gave 1880 exp....still too low for leveling efficiently.

1880 xp? I'm lucky to get 800xp off the strains after my Hatchling gets done with it! (Green to me) Ghouls and Scavenger bats do better averaging closer to 1k xp each.

My kill speed is quite fast however and I don't need to run far to get to the next mob. (Unless the place is really crowded.) I can kill maybe 25-30 mobs depending on my level before I have to sit. Average 2.5 'sit rounds' per 'buff round'' and about 2.5% min per 'sit round'. Or about 20% per hour. So 5 Hours to level. With xp staying close to constant since I keep killing the same mobs, around L37 it takes longer to level, maybe another 30% or 7 Hours....which is still much, much lower than what you seem to be having.

My equip isn't all that special either. (Good but not spectacular)
(All hand-me-downs....hence the solid +'s after the Pumpkin event. =D )

[Dwarf Scavenger/Artisan]
+3 Brigandine Set (Armor/Shield/Helm)
+3 Elven Jewels
+3 Elven Mith Gloves
+3 Boots of Power
+3 Bonebreaker

Hatchling is only using the 'Torturer' fang so his damage isn't quite as high as it could be either. (Forget which armor he has, but its the same level.)

I don't use shots at all either.

Yet I can still kill fast enough that my Hatchlings Stun barely has enough time to refresh before the next mob. (If I kill Strains, it isn't long enough to refresh!)

At L55/56 I get maybe 0.80 every 30 min or so while soloing with a non-ranged char.
When I solo on subclass at 56 I do about 4-5% per buffround, so 12-15% per hour. This is with using 1 acu pot and 1 ww pot.

Mostly if I play with a SE I go for CDL and then I can muster a few % more per round.

On my SE main, at 76 I'm lucky if I score 1% per hour.. did at least ~1.5% at 75 .. but now it's like 0.75 - 1% ;/ No particular "elite parties", just your average clanparty.
From 66 upwards i lvld solo, well with oop se, as a sps.
I played 5-6 hrs per day, but from 73 onwards i aimed for 10% per day.
this was a lot easier to do at 73...
Anyways, at 74 105 could take 5-6 hrs, with out of party se/pp.
A good day i would make 15-20%, a bad one i would get 4-5%, but what i realeised most of all was time=xp.
I could pretty much guarantee 2% per hour.
And anyone getting 40% per day at 75 isnt playing their own char.. it isnt possible
at 59 I get 50% when I put in 8hrs. This being on a nuker with an EE and SE sitting nearby.

Having said that though I am usually glad for 10-20% per day. soloing or 5-15% when I feel like being sociable
ok thats what i wanted to know
*hides in corner and hopes ppl dont realize he's overpowered*
At 55/56 my BH got 4-5% / buffs soloing (not AoE) in Apostate. SE/Prophet buffs. So that's 12-15% / hour. Oh and had to spam about 60 ghp while gaining about 55% in 4 hours or so.
Mind you at 56 I was killing 6 greens and 2 blues in 8 mob room.
As I dinged 57 the green mob that gave me 12k xp / kill turned blue and gives only 10k xp.
So the xp penalty for hunting blues is about 20% when they turn blue, then about 10-15% per level.

But when I solo outside of catacombs without buffs I barely make 1-2% / GSAP = 3-4% / hour. If I'm lucky.
At 74 I get 1% an hour. The problem is getting a fast killing group for any length of time. Any group I am in will be less efficient, since I am a WS. I am often not the only dwarf in the group, which makes XP flow worse. When all the healers and buffers go to bed we have to pull into a safe hallway. That slows things even more.
So.... another question here is:

How long is 'a day'?

On weekdays when I have to work if I'm LUCKY I can do 4 hours. It's usually more like 2. On the weekend I can play most of the day so the 'day' then is considerably longer.

I think XP per hour is a more real measure...
Yeah, I do xp per hour, not day.

Up to level 62 my SpS duo'ed w/ my SE, after I duo'ed her with my EE and had a lowbie SE oop for empower. Let's see if I can remember....

40-44 I got 30% an hour
45-49 I got 18% an hour
50-54 I got 12% an hour
55-59 I got 9% an hour
60-62 I got 6% an hour ... then I found a better hunting spot and...
62-64 I got 8% an hour
65-69 I get 6% an hour

Let ya know about 70+ when I get there. :p

That's all solo though. In parties, you can cut all that xp in half. Parties suck. =/ I do parties, but only to break the mind-numbing routine of soloing all the time. The only parties that give me the same xp as duoing are like archer parties at the 2nd bridge. Or something equivalent to that. Normal parties give me much less xp per buff round... the only + is that there's no downtime, which I have a lot of while duoing.
In a good party.. XP is > 1mill per hour

Solo its 700k+ per hour
