I was hesitating to write this story. Because, if i did it would mean that i had to admid that i'm stupid.
When i say stupid, i mean very very very stupid.
But it's has got to go from my heart, so i tell it anyway :eek:
here it is :
I run an 40+ sorc on the Erica server.
And this weekend i walked in dion, minding my own business.
Then i got an pm of an player who told me that he was quitting the game and that he was busy giving stuff to players who weren't to high level.
And he said he was willing to give me 14million adena, if i could pass a test. To make sure i liked the game enough.....
Now you have to know i like the game very much. To much to ebay or to cheat in any other way.
And because i want to keep up with my clannies as fast as i can i always use Bsps. This means that i'm not very wealthy and that my armour and weapons are borrowed onces.
Sure i could use some extra cash !
So he invited me to in a party and we went a little further.
After he asked me a few questions how i played the game, if this was my main toon etc etc, he asked me to drop my weapon and pickit up as fast as i could.
And ......
So i did. To realise half a second later that this was the stupiest thing i ever did in a game.
The party was : pick up by turn, and he had the right to have the first pick.
I even did not take the effort to pick my weapon up again. Knowing what would happen.
Like a madman i was looking the icon to "leave the party". But i knew i was screwed.
And so i was. as fast as he could, my "compagnon" ran towards my homu sword picked it up, left the party and ran to the GK to dissapear.
I gazed at my screen for some minutes i . I couldn't believe my own stupidity.
You have to understand that i wasn't even mad at the scammer. This was something i deserved !
I didn't spam the scammer with curses and bad names......
I only told him, that this was not necessary to do, and that it was a borrowed weapon.
And i let it go.
Knowing for sure, that it had no sense to make me mad and for begging i was way to proud.
With no adena to buy another weapon and not willing to loan another one. I stretched my fingers and told myself that :
1. i had to tell the owner of my sword that i lost it.... And how....
2. i had to buy an lower grade weapon to play the game further.
I already told my friend he would never see his weapon again, and that it would take me months to pay it back.
lol i even think about a whole frigging second that ebaying was the only way to solve this issue. But i firmly pushed that idea away. That : Never !!
And than i saw my scammer running next to me.
I followed him, told him again that the fact that the sword wasn't mine was more disturbing to me then that i was scammed.
As i already told : I thougt this was my own **** fault and that being that stupid i didn't deserve less.
My scammer lauged.
He looked at me.
And he asked : "did you learn your lesson ?"
And i said : "yes, i sure do"
And then there he fell on the floor. My friends weapon, he gave me in trust.
I couldn't believe my eyes. This had to be a trick i didn't get.
After hesitating i picked up the sword en checked my inventory. And yes, there he was, staring back at me.
My "scammer" laughed again, told me i was very lucky and that he had to log. And there he went right to the guards' of Dion to hit them and to be slayed....
I told my friend and clanmembers this story, and they almost couldn't believe it.
But the greatest unbeliever was I . :D
Are scammers bad ? Well most of them are i guess.
But this one learned me a part of lineage i will never forget.
I hope he read the forums once in a while. Because i want to thank him again ^^.
