Class Quest Question

I have a cleric and about to do the prophet class quest. My question is, do i have to kill the mobs totally or get a hit in or get the last hit in to get credit for the kill on quest mobs, IE getting the drop etc.

From my own experiance in clas change quest, last hit is all that is needed to get quest item.

This is my first semi caster type the rest were melee and I didnt have a worry about it. So can i get a hit in on it and it work or do i need to do the final strike? Thanks again
