Overlord - clan/alliance buffs?

Player Questions Started Last reply 7 posts
how does thise work? is there a range limit? how do thay stack with singel buffs? is there diffrent range on diffrent buffs?

And is there any use of healing in overlord three or is the overlord a more offensiv orc mage while the warcryer is pure buffer?

I do my best to explain how OL seals and debuffs work. (With illustration goodness!)
I'll answer the easy questions quickly =)

The alliance needs to be quite close to the OL to get buffs. And OL buffs don't stack with the equivalent buffs from other buffers.

And is there any use of healing in overlord three

I don't think I don't understand this question.. Are you talking about Heart of Paagrio? If so, yes it's useful, in both sieges and raids and xp parties.

it was if the overlord could be a decent healer. But i guess at higher level the chant of life isnt high enough to make a great diffrence. And heart of pareggio(sp?) only effects clan members.

Pain thanx read both posts about seals and buffs. Was kinda dissapointed. Would be cool if anyone i the guild would be buffed from anyware. But i can see the "less use of OL in combat" then. So i guess this is for the better.

And i guess the "extended" effects is for when you lineup vs an other line you can still buff a lot of players =)

Heart of Paagrio Affects Clan members AND all Alliance Members. So your party options aren't that limited as to just your clan.

And I chose those screens as the best I had to show how the OL buffs 'reach out' and affect people. They don't really show how large the numbers an OL can buff can go. In sieges and raids, all it takes is one OL to buff our entire alliance at the start when everyone is in one big mass. (Over 100 people) (I'm not the only one and I'm not the highest however.) But yes the people do need to be close to you to start the 'extend' effects. Word is that C5 will make the OL buffs range a bit larger. No word yet on exactly what or how they are changing this though. Your not however, going to be able to buff people in a dungeon from town...unlike how Transfer Pain is currently being abused by certain Necro's.

I'll tell you now though, that our buffs are definatley understrength until our 50's. (52 maxes out 1/2 and 56 for the rest. We don't get the WindWalk buff until 58 but everything else except the L7x skills is there at 56.) And Seal of Flame is definately weak until L56.

Even at 56, land rates of seals is still....lacking. But Chaos, Slow, Suspend, Winter and likely Scourge land very well. (Not sure about Scourge because frankly, its useless.) With BSPS the Root spell and Silence has a decent land rate as long as the mobs aren't terribly higher than you. (Forget the deep reds...white and green is your best bets.)

Heart cost so much MP that most of the time your just not going to be able to be a groups primary healer anyway, unless your fighting some fairly easy stuff for your group. (And most groups I've ever been in seem to try and stretch their healer as much as possible...)

If your clan is small or your not in an alliance and those groups are hard to get into at times, you can still do very well in AOE groups. The Catacombs of the Branded is good for quite a few levels that way. Or if you can't find a open set of rooms down there, some field mobs are good too. (You can do 1/2 or full HP mobs depending on if you are party with AOE mages or Polearms or a mix.) Depending on the mob and your party, your either going to be Rooting and DoT/Debuff, or your going to be slowing and kiting them. And for these kinds of groups, you don't need to be the main healer/buffer.

Your last choice is to get a good damage weapon and just go ahead and melee assist away. Throw on Soul Cry if your not using your MP to buff, or just get a bow and asisst. Maybe a blunt and just stun. You do have quite a few options as an OL. (I know I did a lot of soloing...but thats more by choice than anything else for me.)
OLs don't get decent untill 66, 64 is max buffs and 1st CP heal, 66 is ally CP heal. OL in a Carebear PvE ally (even worse if only in 1 clan) might as well have gone for WC. Oh, and even at 72 Seals don't land too often, in pvp and on higher lvl mobs.
Depends on what the OL is doing.. I'm very pleased with our OL, who's not quite 66 yet. It takes a big strain off the healers, to have the OL buff, and throw a Heart of Paagrio once in a while. But sure, we want him to get to 66 badly, and then as high as possible.
