WoW convert, need suggestions

Hi.
Some friends and I have recently switched MMO poisons from WoW to L2 and it looks great so far!
However, we're looking for some group class ideas. There will be four of us and so far we're thinking SwS, BD, WC, and SE. I understand the next patch (C5) may change some class dynamics so we're looking long-term with what we choose.
We will most likely level exclusively together until we get our clan going on this server and will probably focus on PVE until we get everyone geared.
From what I've read we will use subclasses or makes alts to PVP and siege.
Thanks for any input in advance! :)
Have you thought about what server you may start on?
We decided on Bartz. More people = more pvp + a better economy. (I would imagine)
one of you might want to play a damage class

one of you might want to play a damage class

Do you have any suggestions on who we should switch and with what?
Well for the most part the WC and he SE have overlapping buffs SE however is a decent healer. I might suggest you sacrifice a SWS or BD for a different damage dealer. Also to optimize VR from your two buffers you would need melees.
Getting a nuker (Dark Elf Mystic maybe) could help a lot on harder mobs. And the SE has empower which will help quite a bit.

And no, you don't need to make alts to pvp nor should you wait until you subclass (which will take a very long time).

In the end you have to play what is fun and play somehthing that will help you in your game goals
Due to the fact you can buy haste 2 pots you could get rid of the WC and replace it with any high critting class. Sws/BD combo is the best in the game. but actually a sws BD will be fine without an addition dd. Plus you are sure to make friends that will be trying to get into your super exp groups. DDs are common, finding main buffers and healers are harder. Stick with your initial plan. What server are you planning on joining? maybe gustin ? :)

I'm starting to lose faith that people read the whole thread before replying :)
and why should I care whether you have faith in me? Who are you to me?... why do you need to feel the need to take a jab at me. Did I post anything offense to anyone... don't think so.

If you think about it, someone that has put enough research into figuring a really good pve party... must have already decided on a server. I was mainly expressing my hopes that maybe they decided to join gustin ^^

Big deal if I missed a small detail while skimming the thread.

That doesn't affect my opinion of their choice of classes.
I would suggest ditching the WC and making a tank for your group. Good luck, this game is a lot slower leveling then WOW, but I played this in C1, played WOW last year and came back to this game. ^^
Yeah, I prefer this over WoW too. L2 is fairly hardcore though.

And it doesn't look like it was drawn in crayons. :)

I actually like the way WoW looks. Very artsy.

Here's my dime:

Keep the BD and SE. Those two are no brainers and will add to any 4-man party.

Consider: keeping WC for party buffs and as an orc it has good HP/cp. But another possibility is to make an Overlord. Clan buffs/later alliance buffs are great in this game.

Consider too a mage. I'm thinking a Spellhowler. Great solo and in parties does great damage. Will make leveling a lot easier.

But my personal experience is this:

BD/SWS/SE and Prophet. We mainly PVEd but leveled fast. On our subs we went SH/Necro. Another great team.
I must have miss read your post then, when the OP said what server he/she was thinking about going to.

My mistake.
you could always try the warlord/bishop/WC/destroyer combo and aoe grind in catacombs forever :P

Yeah... it is artsy. I just find the colors to be very intense!!!!

And I also feel the art design in L2 is more inspiring. But that's my taste. :p

Hm...
That's something i always wonder...
Why is Lineage II sold as "hardcore" ?
I dont think it's really fair, and i think it may drive some people away from it (hell it almost drove me away a few months ago)
I would rather call Lineage "a long-term experience", cos you have so much to learn about it, the more you play the more you discover all of its features, which arent actually all designed for high-level character, playing Lineage as a lv20 can be so much fun !
I see all around these boards people being so proud they play this "harcore elitist pvp" game, but i really dont see it this way, with each Chronicle added this is becoming a more intense and long-term RP experience, which is so great, it's really beginning to beat the sh*t out of every other MMORPG ! :p
So yes, you can play Lineage as a hardcore pvp video game, but fortunately you can also play it as an excellent RPG online game !

Getting to level 75 and sub classing is no mean feat, and since its an open PvP game you don't have the luxury of choosing when to PvP, so my suggestion is play the role you want from the beginning.

Check out the battle tournament replays for class dynamics, its a PvP tournament so the PvE classes are either not shown or look pretty gimp but least it will give you an idea.

For a solid 4 man group IMHO go for:
* BD: tank/DD and buffer
* SE: buffer/healer/crowd control
* SH: nuker heavy DD/crowd control, mana management with Body to Mind
* Necro: nuker heavy DD/crowd control, mana management with Body to Mind, undead summons for hectic situations

SwS is more of a PvP buffer and WC has overlapping buffs to SE, your better off with nukers being the DDs so the the BD can concentrate on mage type dances.
While people in this thread are right about things like "you can buy haste potions", "play a necro" and so on, be aware that on your first character, making enough money to get good equipment AND use spiritshots/soulshots/potions/cursed bones (for necro) will be VERY hard. Money is super important in this game. If you just go out and level like crazy, you will end up with no money and bad equipment and be "stuck" because the mobs you should fight at your level are too hard for you, and the ones you can fight easily are too low level. Rule of thumb is that you can either exp well or earn money well, but not both at the same time.

Use the manor system, and maybe level up a dwarf in addition to your main.
Yea, good points there.

Lvl up OR make money, not both... (:

If you are planning on making a clan for yourselves and advance in the community, I would definately suggest having one member in the party go a Overlord. They are very very nice. Since I despise nukers a perfect group setup imho for money and later xp would be:

Overlord (since you will clan, nice buffs, life drain, excellent tank when partying the right ways. crowd control - sleep and root, excellent in sieges for your clan)

Hawkeye (Archer, very nicely balanced, high hp, semi high dmg output, good crit rate, excellent at sieges later on in the game. bit expensive in the start if you use soulshots all the time, try not to when you are grouping 4 people)

Bishop (The über healer/rezzer, since you lose xp when you die in this game bishops are highly desired in the higher lvls. Blessed rez scrolls are too expensive for most of the people.)

Phantom ranger (The highest dmg dealing class except the nukers... Archer, excellent hit power, low hp but very dangerous.)

With this party using the Overlord right you will not once have any downtime from lvl 30 and up...
Im assuming thats how long it will take you to get yourself a semi good gear. Until then, just hang in there, and preferably dont use soulshots with the bows early, be patient and exploit the manor system from the beginning :)

Thats the good thing with using archers instead of nukers..
When you have lost your mana pool with the bows, switch to daggers (you will get dagger and archer skills equally until lvl 40 and second class change). Might be a bit expensive, but its probably worth it if you want to continue and continue :)

Thats just my point of view... and oh, DOWN with the nukers ;)
