Mechanical golems, mech cannon and pet sps

I only seem to be able to use pet sps the first time i use the mech cannon on a mechanical golem. Every time after the first it does nothing, then the next golem i summon is fine.

Anyone else get this problem?

Is it, perchance, not a magical skill and never actually consumes the SpS?

now get this
if by some chance someone lands silence on the golem (i couldnt get lvl 74 necros to land it but mobs will easily) you can no longer use the mech cannon attack
that would mean its a magical attack
now if someone lands wind shakle or reduce pattack speed that will effect the golem
if you have haste and zerk it will cast faster
so obviously its a melee attack which is effected by a magic debuff
