Hi i`ve recently started playing (yesterday) and tranfered from eve online.
First off this game has great visuals, I really like the scenery and towns and most of the monsters look great so far aswel.
I decided to play a Elven mystic on Lionna as I fancied abit more RP and meaning to my pvp.
**** i`m dissapointed that my fearsome Elven mystic looks like a timid choir boy, and from what i`ve heard it always looks that bad :(
All I wanted was a cool looking robe to make him look wise and powerful (even if i am only lv 9)
The initial stages of the game are grating abit, its kinda boring killing goblins and orcs while I wait till lv20 or 40 to join a clan and do dungeons/pvp properly.
So out of boredom and desperation to get away from my village I took the quest "to see the world or something" and ended up in a town miles from my village.
Wow I thought this town looks cool! Except the lag is bad with so many people trying to sell stuff u can barely walk the streets. All the npc's/quests were too advanced and as there doesnt seem to be a journal? I had forgotten who I spoke to to get a free lift home.
Thankfully some kind players donated a few k of cash to get me back to the village where I remain grating on those goblins :(
So I guess I have to keep going till I have the exp to fight pvp and can afford some better equipment even if my character will always look that sad.

Your first mistake ;) Dwarves are your only choice, if you want to look cool.
Welcome to Lineage2. Be sure to utilize the newbie helpers and get their free goodies and you will be faster at lvl 20 than any of us veterans could have ever hoped for during prelude and C1-3.
Oh and did I mention already, that Dwarves are the only way to look really cool with orcs coming close second ?
And do not worry. You do not look like a boy. You cannot look like a boy, as there is no mole model for elves. They only got a full-female and a less-female version. Unfortunately in char creation, it is called "male", but from all screenshots you will have to agree, that it is not ;)
Too bad they don't have gender change potions, especially for Light Elves. You can still level to 25 (to get all the benefits of the newbie buffs and so on), colect some money and equipment, and reroll.
You could do some dungeons on your level, too, if there were more people of your level online.
Moneywise, you'd better make quests for spiritshots (and use the quest ones), get the spores quest (and then farm these mushrooms till they turn light blue), meanwhile make a couple of quests for weapons, make zombie quests, and keep the quests for orcs just to get some additional small money from orcs aggroed on you.
There is a journal for quests. When you open your personal stats, the last page of the box is the page dedicated to your current quests.

Hey, my orc is hot and ****...."I'm just so dang ****"
But i know of the quest the OP talks about. You have to talk to a dwarf in the "Aggg i cann't remember which NPC shop" and he has you run some tasks to other NPCs in town. Which he gives you a escape scroll back to your starter town.
And you don't have to stop doing the spore quest when they turn light blue. Quest items will still drop for as long as you're eligable to do the quest. (EDIT: but the xp you get from the mobs will be really bad. Who cares though? It's a great quest, and it'll help you get better gear. And THEN you can start hunting for xp some more :) )
Hehe sadly orcs and dwarfs are my least favourite races. it has to be either Human or Elf :)
What the latest lv you can reroll at and still keep the groovy bonuses?
p.s what lv do i need to be to obtain lce strike lv3?
Should have gone Dark Elf... have you seen Dark Elven Village? First time I ever entered it, and saw this stone hand rising from the center, acting as a conduit for the mystical energies swirling above... well let me tell you.. that is when I was hooked.
Well after reading some threads i`m thinking about changing my character to a Necromancer.
I`m only really interested in pvp in this game so need something to stand up in a fight. And from the sound of it not only does my elven mystic look bad he fights bad to?
They just happen to be very difficult to level up due to mana management issues.
As far as pvp... yeah... this game has great PvP (depending on how you look at it) but since the game has been out for a while, you will just have to work hard to catch up.

The problem is that Necromancers are expensive to level, they are a great PvP class (until next chronicle), but they might not be the best for you right now...by the time C5 rolls out you won't be high enough level to really enjoy it.
The thing is, once a char is level 6, it'll be your novice char on that server forever. So the only one to recieve novice buffs. I think that's what he meant?
Btw Necromancer is an expensive char to start out with, because their main nuke take one cursed bone per nuke, and add sps or bsps to that. I think cursed bones cost 300 something adena. At higher levels you'll come out on top, but I think you'll have problems early on.
But you might get lucky and find some nuker friends you can gloom for (gloom = reduce m.def on target) and nuke a little less.
I`m going to stick with my choir boy elf for the time being, I managaed to scrape enough adena together to buy a tunic/stocking or devotion and it looks much better.
in L2 there are servitors, which come in two flavors: pets and summons. summons cost crystals, thus expensive, but sometimes they are worth it to allow you to kill mobs faster, or survive the mobs with more hp remaining. the two main pets are wolf and hatchling/strider(stider is the advanced version of the hatchling dragon), but there are heal/buff pets as well, new aditions in C4 (tiger, kookabura, and buffalo). you can ride a strider, cant ride a wolf. pets have their own version of ss and eat stuff depending on the pet. make sure to put pet items in the pets inventory or it wont use them (exception: pet shots are used from your own inventory i think). summons do not have inventories so they cant use armor or heal pots, and after a while they go away and dont gain xp (ussually they will take your xp as an additional cost). summons are class skills but anyone can do a pet quest and get a pet. talk to the pet manager in gludin for the wolf quest at lvl 15+, and pet manager in giran for the hatchling quest (hes between the warehouse and the orc guild) at lvl 35+. both quests are repeatable, so if you dont rez your pet in time and it dies for good, you can get another one. pets, like averything else in L2, are expensive, you should try to get them some armor and weapon if you can.
