I have a spellhowler alt and my wife has a spellslinger alt. We have an SE on a 3rd acct. and have been using her to PL us. We have been leveling ungrouped, but were wondering when we should start grouping the chars.
If you're hunting at thesame spot, it could be an advantage to be grouped, but to kill individual mobs, as if you were solo, so you get the group bonus.
You could also go to a cata or necro. You should be able to hold a room, dependig on the level of your SE (does it recharge you good enough).
What level are you guys?
The 3 chars are in the same area, we go someplace with TONS of mobs so we never run out and don't compete with each other.
No my wife and I aren't grouped because at lower lvls it was easier for us to level seperately but near each other for buffs/mps. My original question was when would it be best for us to start grouping with each other as opposed to leveling solo.
As for the SE, she is several levels ahead of us, but we do plan on grouping with her when we catch up so she doesn't get behind. You can recharge lower lvl people but not higher lvl people without a penalty.

It's always best to group with 2 nukers.
Nuker1: Kills 5 mobs for 10k xp total.
Nuker2: Kills 5 mobs for 10k xp total.
You both just received 10k xp ea. Combined you got 20k xp out of 10 mobs.
Duo:
Nuker1 Kills 5 mobs for 6k for self 6k for Nuker2.
Nuker2 Kills 5 mobs for 6k for self 6k for Nuker1.
Now you both received 12k xp ea. Combined you got 24k xp out fo the same 10 mobs.
Duo but kill different mobs for fasted kills speed.
Easy answer would be, solo untill you feel like you need more fire power. But my suggestion of grouping for party bonus still stands. It would probably be overkill to duo the mobs, if you can comfortably kill them by yourself.
Your wife will probably be the first to wish for a duo partner since she has the lower INT, and you have better mana mangement than her.
I've changed my mind about you going to a cata or necro, since your SE isn't actively played. It's possible to do with a boxed SE, but you can easily get in trouble when it's not manned. I don't know, if you're feeling adventurous, give it a try :p
Catacomb or necro should be fine.. they've got 2 crowd control and if one of them gets energetic, they could always use the SE to root while they shoot.
As I understand it, the group XP bonus goes up for each additional person in the party. With two people in the party, the bonus is 35%. So a mob that gives 10k xp solo now gives 13.5k xp and is split up between the group.
I think it's higher, but I dont know the exact formula. And it goes up depending on how many are in party.
And you should always group up with your wife if she is in same level range. Perfect if shes same lvl. I currently lvl 2 accounts at once, and one of them is 3 lvls above the other. I get a pet out so he can eat some exp while the lower lvl catches up.
In any case, if you can easily kill mobs and you can cause your a nuker, group and still kill different mobs, just not too far from eachother as your wife will not get her share of the exp and vice versa.
Catacombs are great if you can find a big room for the 2 of you.
However if you like to go out in the fields and kill separate mobs, you should still group with her. You will still get the exp bonus and also the adena drop bonus just for being in the party, even if shes miles away. But she wont get any share of the things you kill, and you wont get any of hers.

The duo bonus is 30%, trio is 39%, quad is 50%, then the increase in % slows down.
So if you get 1000xp per mob solo in duo you would get 650xp each. You have lost 30% free xp you could have been getting, though if you are different levels the higher level gets more of the xp. If you are close in level the lower level still levels a little faster do to needing less xp per level. If you wander too far from each other it just reverts to solo so nothing to lose by being in party (unless one of you is lazy and the other doesn't want to help them level ;)).
Edit: I have never heard of, or noticed, an adena bonus. :confused:
My next question is where should we kill, while grouped together?
I would guess that the mobs would have to be double hp mobs atleast. Even with double hp mobs two nukers with basically unlimited mps dish out a TON of dmg.
Right now we have been leveling in Partisans Hideaway, but the mobs are green now so I need to find our next place soon.
Oh and please don't everyone scream necro/catacombs. We exp on our mains there all the time and would like to use our alts to get to see more of the game.

Not true, you get a 16% exp bonus for exping in a duo. Find a spot where you can 2 shot mobs, 1 shot from each fo you. Best exp you'll find.
I absolutely dispise the area... but I'd suggest execution grounds, if you run from dion take a left between two sets of stairs and cross the tiny creek. That rather large area that is separated from the main path by water is the best exp I found from 30-40 (even when the bats and trees turn green) I did not hunt the golems.
