whats the best guy to buff raid bosses?
thinking a class about lvl 40ish, would be better if i didnt have to do second class change so any buffers that could destroy a raid pre 40?
I'm thinking maybe Shillien Oracle with empower - on a boss that uses aoe magic (especially paralyze). I haven't looked at the skill tables though. But I think SO and cleric get pretty much the same offensive buffs; one gets zerk and one gets emp. Zerk would probably do more harm than good (since it now works like a weaker gloom). Both get focus. Oh, SO get VR and resist wind, which would probably be pretty good too, even if it's only lvl 1.
i play so during raids, but it doesnt really matter :), depends on layout of the group more, whitout vr or anything i can usually keep up healing the tank (even if he is a mage :P) if he gets agro, usually easier to get outside buffer with ya though and jsut focus on killing it, because if healer also gotta buff ya will run out of mp very fast
cleric,
regeneration [seems like %age based but i have never made the effort to investigatem but you can buff that w/ deadman staff and actually better], focus and acumen if the boss has magic. on 40 w/o 2nd class change you can buff btb w/ ghoul/crystal staff, but you can do that w/ any mystic class...
We have only 3 candidates:
Mental shield, kiss of eva, holy weapon and other stuff including acumen is not important - it doesn't change things.
1) Cleric
Cleric has focus 1, might 2, shield 2, ww 2, regeneration 1 and berserker spirit 1.
Berserker spirit while increasing movement speed, and attacking stats is generally a debuff for raid bosses. It loses MDef and PDef that makes things easier. Even though you can buff tank with it - for non-kiting tanks it makes something. But after all tanking is not a problem, really. Most raid parties have excessive healing. Nevertheless it's a valuable buff for comparision.
Regeneration is not important, since it will only add some bits to regeneration (it is not %-based, so it's not a factor).
2) SO
SO has focus 1, might 2, shield 2, ww 2, VR1, empower 1.
Empower is rather useless, since bosses are not so often on attacks. Only bosses with mass paralise and mass nukes can be affected. Even though raid party that attacks such bosses is generally prepared for consequences. It helps a bit, but it's not great thing.
Vampiric rage will add some to raid boss regeneration. With each hit of 800 hp per you'll add like 40 hp to a boss. Can't say it will drasticaly change things though.
3) EO
EO is hands down most useless buffer here. There is nothing EO can suggest for raid boss cleric or EO can't.
You can select between cleric and SO. They are pretty much similar in RB griefing, with slight advantage for cleric on underhealed RB parties and slight SO advantage on casting RBs.
Keep in mind the resist fire and resist wind buffs. Most damage to RB's is done with magic. You unfortunately can't get magic barrier before 40 (only orcs do as party buffs). The kinds of raid boss groups I hope you want to disrupt are probably all nukers. So which buff you want (clerics for resist fire, SO for resist wind) depends on what the raiders are using.
Btw....zerk is a bad buff to try to destroy a raid boss group. We usually use zerk on our own raid bosses to make them die faster.

Hahahahhahaha "raid boss buffer", a buffer to buff... the raid boss??? HAHAHAHA cool

Thank you for bringing this to conversation.
I have forgot to mention it because of doubtful usefulness of resist buffs.
Unfortunately, resist fire is easily removed by surrender to fire. Resist wind is similary removed.
With level progression of surrender-resist spells competitive level of resist is always vulnerable to such removal technique.
You can remove resist buff with 1 level lower surrender. And 40- chars have only level 1 resist buffs. You can remove surrender with level+1 resist effect.
So if mage party uses surrender to xxx, you won't get a chance for effect of resist xxx spells.
Definitely true. I'm curious, how hard is it to land the surrender spells on raid bosses? Is it easier than landing gloom or hex?
It's quite easy to land surrender to fire on the boss. At least for my 4x sorcerer. Nearly 1 of 2 or 3 attempts. After that you have like 5-6 nukes time with increased damage. So if you have more than one mage of a damage type it worth the effrots.
Gloom lands quit well also.
And hex... I don't know and I don't really bother about it. It lands sometimes, thats everything I know :)
