I mean it's a harsh environment, you never what lurks around the corner... (full out PvP, scams allowed).
Of course, as the spokesman of the Shillien cleasing party, I really think more of myself than there really is, and it can used as a pretty effective weapon...
Example : I was out there grinding in Partisan Hideway (same spot, pretty sweet), so I finally run out of SS, so I port back to town, buy some expensive SS in town and port back to hunting grounds (took about 3 minutes total).
So I come back, and there is this wizard in my spot, nuking at my Ol' Mahums... So I come relatively close to her...
She says : Hi.
So I reply : Hi, my spot. Move.
There is a pause, she goes and hits one mob, then comes back to me and and says (all the while I didn't move a muscle) :
???
So I reply : You're in my spot. Move, or die.
After about 5 seconds of pause, she just moved away from my spot, and went to hunt other mobs nearby...
I sent her a quick PM : Thank you, and have a nice day.
A few moments after, she send a shout :
Lvl [my level+5] nuker looking for group...
HAhahahahahahahahaha ! Share your stories of mean and rude behavior for your profit, and don'T try to tell me you haven't done it at least once, you bunch of [923] liars !
I've actually been trying to RP my dark elves somewhat evil but I can't seem to make it work. Someone was shouting dumb things in DION so I told them to shut up, stop being a noob etc etc and he ended up apologizing. Another dropped plated leather boots and I meant to just keep them, but it's hard to keep up evilness when someone politely asks "can I kindly have my boots back, please". I'm a horrible evil.
LOL I completely agree I was in the combs & some of my group members decided to train some other people who were down there b/c they were taking up our room! SO we basically dumped all our mobs on them and watched them die which was really mean BUT we got our room back hehe and I'm shocked that they didn't come back to put up a fight!?!
Of course, as the spokesman of the Shillien cleasing party, I really think more of myself than there really is, and it can used as a pretty effective weapon...
I am sorry got lost in the shadows when I didn't know which party for Shillien you belong to?
(All stories took place on prelvl 40 untagged alts cause I'm a nice guy on my main)
I go into HC and find a 5 man party clearing a room. I think my what a nice little party, so I start to flag on them. They don't flag, so I start to taunt them etc. Eventually one flags. and I kill him. Then another and another. Seeing as how I had a bunch of cp and ghp, I easily whiped their 5 man party with my noob dagger. I said, "Thanks for the room!" and soed.
When I fool around on my healer alt, I often try to flag on people. If they don't flag back, I heal their mobs for a bit then I stop, so they can kill the mobs. I inform them that if they don't flag I wont stop healing the next time. They flag and die. (Sometimes they kill me. It is pretty hard to pvp with a healer.)
There was a nuker running from a train in HC. He was almost back to the gk, but I fired an ice bolt and slowed him. The mobs surrounded him and he died. After getting rezed he killed me.
Another time a lvl 40+ came to x-roads to defend his alt whom I had been griefing. My lvl 35 dagger and my buddies lvl 27 (?) nuker owned him with the help of a well placed root by my buff bot.
I've banned people from buff hill with my se. Sure they don't listen much and eventually come back, but they always get scared of a low lvl se with no clan tag. Of course some people flag back and 1 shot her. (Those are the people I buff for free.)
I have more griefing stories, but I don't feel like shareing them at this time.
now sovrath... tell a story of when you were mean! we all know that every sh is in a bad mood cause nobody wants them in their party, and they never have buff bots, so soloing sux. There must be one time wehn you lost it.
LOL remind me to watch out for you hehe I have a prophet what healer do you use? If you've got any tips for the healers who want to try some pvping etc... I would love to know :)
my story: PKing well raiding..
I was in a raid group we went to go kill Renoa Elf in Wastelands & there was 3 chars there waiting for the rest of there party so we attacked RB at the last minute the other 3 tried to get in on our kill so we attacked them they ran we targetted and killed them for trying to get exp from our boss!

when i grief with a healer i use an eo. I use a dagger and spam ss with an alcarity pot. I use an oracle for cast speed I suppose, and because if I just want to scare people i switch to a mage weapon and pretend i'm an sps.

It's a typo you [923] !
You know, in-game that kind of a comment would get you killed...
my worst owuld be when I was levling up me EE. I got invited to a raid since the tank needed an extra healer/recharger. It was a low 60's rb. Soo (i thing you can guess where this is heading) after we get to the boss I realize that I am goign to get no xp. I ask to be moved to the mage grp since I am here for the xp at least. They rudely declined and said they would pk me if I dropped party. I said nothing but then as the raid boss neared half life !BAM party recalled the tank grp
every mage died that night. but alas no drops

Well I know when you are in game :) I have eyes in Osiris. So we can meet and grief, ermm I mean help others out, whenever you like <grins>
Just the usual griefing people out of spots on various occasions via pk, healing mobs, threats. etc. I mean, hey I was there first, plenty of room elsewhere.
No scamming/extreme stuff yet, but give me a couple months. L2 is the devil.

YES!!!!
Thats what you filthy mages get for looking down on tanks and EEs! Oh that story just made my day! :)
Well, one time, a few weeks before c4 was released, i decided to hassle one of the many new ps's who were preparing for c4. I came across one ps, in his 40's in branded, and pked him. After i lost the karma, I was attacked by a 55+ sk in his clan (he had 3 cubics up) and i killed him. Just as he hit the ground, i was attacked by a 52+ Aw who i then easily dropped. (note: their clan had about 10 people who all played at the same time, and were greek) The next day, i was jumped by 8 of them, which resulted in me dying fairly quickly. I caught the sk on his own awhile later, killed him, got the aw, and later got the ps. A few days later, they tried to all jump me at once, but i bsoe'd (the only time i'll ever bsoe from a pvp is a: i'm outnumbered at least 5:1 and i'm not leaving behind anyone to die, or b: that person is at least 15 levels higher.) I came back to the catacomb, and after a bit of sneaking, i found out which room the 9 of them (they later grabbed an archer) were hunting in. I made a train with nearly every mob from maybe 5 rooms, i pulled the mobs in, stuck my summon on their tank, and ran back to watch the show. My summon died, the mobs socialed onto them since they were killing at the time, the tank ud'd and hateaura'd, the healer started sleeping stuff, i made a new summon, sent it around waking the mobs and fairly quickly, they were wiped. A few days later, a level 50 necro in my clan wanted in on some of the fun, so we went to the catacomb, and they were in the exact same room, we attacked them, and took them all out without any loss on our side. Their group consisted of a:
-55+ sk
-52+ aw
-52+ sr
-45+ Ps
-52+ Pw
-30+ dark wizard
There was also a C grade glad in their party, but we didn't kill him since he wasn't in their clan, and he didn't take part in the fight. Both me and the necro got 3 kills each. Here's a screen (http://www.photodump.com/direct/XxevilxX/Shot01858.jpg)
After the whole thing died down, they had killed me once and made me bsoe once, and i had racked up about 30 kills including the train.
note: the 52+ Pw is not in that frame, but i promise he was there ^_^

I'll take behavior you'd never do in RL but is perfectly acceptable in a roleplaying game environment for 1000$.
Idiot. There, I said it.
I'm not a trashtalker. It's just not me. I've never PMed someone after a PK. I've had people PM me threating to "PK me off the server" and never responded. I don't know but it's kind of how I am in real life as well. I don't blow up. I try to control myself. I just don't see the point.
You're my favorite [923] target, n00b !
It's a dog eat dog world and I'm wearing milk bone underwear.

I've never been mean in game. I did lose it twice gut they had it coming.
First time was in the wastes when a guy kept training mobs on my clannies. So my friends kept trying to get him to flag but he wouldn't, so I one shotted him.
Second time was in the cemetary. This play had a dwarf and kept trying to train the raid boss on players. He then did it to a clannie so I came and told him that if he did it again I would kill him. So he said "oh yeah right... flag... my friends will kill you when you are red. So he turns around to get another mob and I wasted the [Censored].
His clannie then tries to kill me but then one of mine, a SPS took him out.
You see... I hate it when people become so smug and think they are invincible and therefore can do whatever they want. Just hate it.
However, I've never just gone nuts and killed anyone "just because". I really do need a purpose.
i killed my clan leader once when he was 99% tnl. he used a fairly graphic insult and so i casually asked everyone to stop xping and goto the hall for a moment (i was tanking). we fought it out in the hall, no other people in party interferred. he swore and logged for a bit and i felt bad, but he didnt kick me from clan, and i didnt leave clan, and afterward i think we understood each other a lot better. really, i think thats the meanest ive ever been, sorry to dissapoint :(
I was xping an alt in cruma, when some random human came into my room and started ganking portas. After telling him to find his own room, he explained that he was doing his class change quests. I said that he could take his class change quest and insert it in a very uncomfortable region of his anatomy since he didn't ask before he got in my way.
He didn't leave, so I pked him. When he got back to town he pmed me in order to call me some very bad names and to explain that I had deleveled him, rendering him unable to wear his shiny new C grade that he had just sold his D gear in order to afford. I simply replied, "Hard to gank somebody's mobs when you're naked, isn't it?"
Yea i hate the trainers that dont flag back, such an inconveniance, and the way they think they are gods gift to the world really winds me up. Its what insipred me to make a Mage so i could smack them across the continent 12 times over with ease. I got really annoyed when i was my EE, i could never hope to defend myself let alont attack someone else =(

This is not evil or rude per se. Just "you get what you ordered". I'm personally disgusted at the mere sight of a random raid boss party these days, it seems no one wants to level any other way anymore.

You know, all he wanted was the last hit on the portas. You could have had someone helping you kill those precious portas, doubling your adena and drop haul, with no real xp loss, by simply leaving the last hit for him. And.. he'd be gone as soon as he got his quest item.
That would seem to have been a win/win situation, and better than the solution you selected which was a lose/lose (lost level for him/red and +PK count for you.)

You're probably right, but this isn't a thread about being nice. :p

And, you know, all the other guy had to do was say "Hey, I'm **** my quest, mind if I get the last hit a couple of times and you keep all the drops?" I'll bet that would've worked quite well.
Sir E, you must be the only guy on hindemith that understand this. I think 99% of all the wars in L2 are from ksing, and I also think that is how NCSoft envisioned it.

Too much thinking...
That fine and I think 98% of those do it on purpose; to start wars.
I was killing Windsus one time for the coin quest thingy. Someone (much lower level) showed up and demanded that I leave the windsus for him to kill, because he was doing his 2nd class change. Now, had he asked to share or been even the slightest bit nicer about it, I would've left them to him. However, since he was being a 923, I told him to bite me. And, since I could kill them 10x faster than him, he was out of luck.
Oh, and Sov, I know you've never been mean or rude in game. So you're kinda like a virgin... Imagine being rude and mean, step out of your shoes, it's what this game is for... Try it, roleplaying is like sex. It's kinda fun at first but you don'T really know what you are doing. Then, as you get better at it, it's an excellent way to make friends.

Back in prelude some punk (in EG) was being a real [censored], we had a few minor PvPs he kept trying to train me and whatnot. He got lucky and got a Blast Plate drop from one of the trees but was rooted so I took it. I'm too drunk to think of anything really devious I've done at the moment.
Theres always the CLD to BH blue glowing dead mobs too. That ****** them off real well.
Oh, here we go, I saw someone I diddn't know in a clan I diddn't like who was stupidly AFK with his strider out so I PKed it and waited around to see if he got back in time to rez it. He diddn't.
I also PKed some punk who droped party to kill a rabbit during the event. Then the rest of the party helped me work it off. The guy started tarsh talking, tried to get back to take me down, lagged died to mobs and droped a necklace and earing. In the end he had less XP than before he killed the rabbit we all laughed at him, he cussed us out blocked us and logged. Was fun.
just last night i was raiding with a FULL nuker party (not even a healer or tank.
i knew we were gonna die from the start. but i went anyway.
well a 2boxer come up and sits to watch the raid. they get outright PKd by my group. 2 people went red on them telling them to LEAVE! in no uncertain terms.
i sat back quietly.
my 75 prophet friend comes to watch the raid disguised in NG gear. happens to give me acumen3 and zerk when we were back in town. nobody looks at each other's buff slots anyway >:D
well guess who begins rifling at him to LEAVE! the 2 red punks in my group.
well i asked them to stop. i did. but when they wouldnt (they never got more than 1 dmg on him anyway) i began spamming DBSPS and just plazed every purple ganker in the group.
i got 7 pvp points free that night. also made 6 ignore lists after getting a [923] load of pms with baddddd names in there.
but i was nice enough to wash off the karma of the 2 reds. it only took 1 shot.
I try not to be an [923] in game because I don't like it when people are that way to me. I don't want to rain on DM's thread, but I really don't see the point in being horrible.
And yeah SirE, they had it coming. That was a case where someone was trying to do the kind of thing that DM is talking about (being mean) and the tables were turned.
The worst thing I've ever done I guess though maybe someone might consider this mean. I was leveling up one of my characters in School of Dark Arts and there was an obvious botting party. A healer and a fighter.
I killed the healer (going red in the process) and watched the mobs kill the fighter (who payed no attention to either the healer being killed by me or not getting heals herself) and after I'd worked off the karma (which suprised me how fast it was) I took this pic:
from the stories put forward it would seem on any level, splatter.
And there lies the cognitive dissonance. It's then you can perceive that Jute is "Lawfull Good". She'd hate to rain on the Devil's parade, but why be mean ?
Because. Because if you walk in another man's shoes, you can get the real feeling... (may it be for only a roleplaying session).
Lawfull Good peeps are so affraid to step out of their shoes, that they will be shy to admit rude behavior.
Rude Jute ! That would be a great "villain" name for you.
And while you are walking in the shoes of the 'rude' one, you are completely ignoring the one who is the object of your rudeness. What about them?
Which is completely besides the point. At least for RP "meanies" the others should understand it's just a gameplay style and not anything (particularly) personal. One random person here and there testing how being nasty feels like hardly makes any difference in L2, considering the playerbase consist almost completely of people who seem to do the rude-routine for living and can't for the life of them grasp the concept of taking others into account.
Even if you're being a bastard for an out-of-game reason, that's still different from being a bastard 24/7 in cyberspace because you lack the skill to get yourself off and lose some pressure.

Actually, I think it does make a difference. People often act in kind to how they are treated. You treat someone nice, they are more likely to be nice to someone else.
If you were role playing in a world of roleplayers where everyone knew that your rude behavior was just a character you were portraying, that would be one thing. But it's not the way it is...
I like roleplayers and I enjoy joining in on their fun when I have the opportunity, but that's just it, it's an 'opt in' activity for me. If someone comes along and just acts like a jerk, that's what I'll take them for...a jerk, not a roleplayer.
You have to remember that in this game, dying can cost people. So just being rude (as DM was) isn't going to be a huge deal, but killing people like some others in this thread are talking about has consequences for people which often makes them so discouraged they quit the game.
If you think that's fun, well... I can only hope someone in turn will show you the same kind of 'fun' from their side.
And while you are walking in the shoes of the 'rude' one, you are completely ignoring the one who is the object of your rudeness. What about them?
No, quite the contrary. The person who is the object of my rudeness becomes the star. They usually have my undivided attention.
Being mean and rude in a role playing situation is pretty hard. The reason is you're giving out "bad" attention to a certain player or group of players.
People who don'T "opt-in" and respond will be quickly left behind, as a good roleplayer will never force himself onto you if you don't like it.
In the game of bully, if you push somebody around and you get no reaction, you just move along and push somebody else. You're looking for the person who will reply : HEY ! Stop pushing me !
People are intrigued by rudeness and will often interact with you for as long as possible.
as a good roleplayer will never force himself onto you if you don't like it.
Unfortunately, I think that bad roleplayers, like bad drivers, are the last to know they're bad.
but what if they are just rping a bad rper?
Then they should be shot on sight. That's like being a mime. Instant death.
god i hate rpers
Ah, they're okay. It gives people like you something to laugh at. Kind of like the idiotic synchronicized swimming type events in the olympics; worthless except for comedic value.
Ah, they're okay. It gives people like you something to laugh at. Kind of like the idiotic synchronicized swimming type events in the olympics; worthless except for comedic value.
Have you forgotten? The only reason I came to official forums is cause I had to pk a guy cause he was rping... And I was told it would be funny if I posted the story here...
Then I stuck around cuz these forums are a funny place.
If you think that's fun, well... I can only hope someone in turn will show you the same kind of 'fun' from their side.
There's fun, and there's fun. The difference most often shows in the mannerism of the "jerk" in question, I can take a death or a few without any complaint if the killer seems to have a decent purpose for killing me (being bored, hunting "n00bs" etc. are not such) and is not an *** about it afterwards.
Even with taunts there's the how, how you convey your taunts to the opponent makes a huge difference, and sadly enough most people are not exactly up to the task.
And yes, I've been killed on multiple occasions over strifes, I've done my share of killing (moreso pk than pvp, actually), and while I may complain about people sticking their noses into business that's none of theirs (namely, my karma), I never complain about dying or even dropping (bar the occasion when a farmer got my karmian gloves). If someone with the wrong (IMO) attitude gets on my case, I ridicule them until they either block me and piss off or get so ****** off they pk me, this time for a reason :>
Even with taunts there's the how, how you convey your taunts to the opponent makes a huge difference, and sadly enough most people are not exactly up to the task.
This reminds me of a judo match. I had nobody in my class because I was too light. So I was moved up one category, wich had only one competitor.
He was much bigger than me, and he almost liked his lips as we did the traditional bow before combat. As soon as the ref said Adjime ! He was rushing towards me. A bull in fury.
